New Tournament Winter Fest.

Cool to see snow back. I really wish that was an option for all tracks. Disappointing that there doesn't seem to be another new car again. Just new paintjobs for the Killerbee, according the patch notes.

The snow is fun, always glad to see it return. Like you say, there's only the one paint bundle, but there are something like six styles and seven liveries, so there are a lot of options at least. But yeah, I'd rather have more cars and tracks.

Me too. It's feels more like sand how the cars behave. Also not really nice to look at since it doesn't have enough contour and cars getting white instead of kicking up mud and dirt under the snow doesn't seem too well implemented.

It seems wayyyyyy harder to win the tournament races than in dry conditions? The AI cars just seem to have more grip around the corners. In dry conditions I often win first time by a mile, but I'm often failing to win the snow races. In the current weekly one, I have gold at the moment, but think I only finished 2nd, so I can't be the only one finding it much harder to win these races.

Also, I feel I have to mention that I now understand where the A+ GT Sport drivers honed their dirty driving skills. Be the car on the inside going into corners at all costs!

Noticed it too that they have way more grip but I like it. More of a challenge and refreshing too not be able to easy win first or second try. Would like to choose my own car, even if it owuld be B class vs. A class or at least tune it my liking regarding armor and power.

Popped back in recently for the Winterfest re-run and noticed tonight that a new time attack event has been added featuring the Killerbee.

And oh my giddy aunt, it is a real handful in the snow! Don't think that either the rear-engined layout or the gaping ground clearance at the front do it any favours in these conditions...

Just had a go at the Killerbee time attack, took me around 10 attempts to scrape into gold with 1:27.1. I didn't mind it being a handful, but I found the invisible track limits a bit annoying. There was quite a big element of it being a memory test, which I'm never keen on. All the same, I think it took me less time to get gold than it has on any previous weekly time attack, so I'm thinking I can't be bad at dealing with the snow compared to other people.

Rocket RX. Starbeast SS. Superbird GT.

Think you've already got the two best cars. After that they are all pretty similar to each other.
I finally got the Rocket RX the other day, really enjoying driving that. I've been testing the cars maxed out in A class around the Motorcity main circuit, doing 10 laps and recording my best lap time. So far, the Rocket RX has produced the fastest time, but these times will be some way short of the best that can be done, both because I'm not the greatest driver, and 10 laps only has me really getting used to how to drive each car around the track in the last few laps.

Rocket RX A368 1:14.0
Hammerhead RS A366 1:14.4
Eagle R A317 1:14.9
Speedbird GT A362 1:15.6
Raiden RS A303 1:16.1

I feel like the performance differences aren't THAT important for online racing. You've got the randomness of the wrecking chaos, and also it would take a lot of gameplay to learn all the tracks well enough in a given car to reliably drive it consistently near the best lap time it can do.

I'm a bit more obsessed with the driving fun. My go to cars are the Stellar (Opel Manta 400 rallycar), Razor (R33 Skyline GT-R), Raiden RS (Toyota MR2) and if FWD the Nexus RX (Honda CRX). All a bit harder to handle but getting it right is very satisfying. Don't know maybe should try the times too but they are all maxed out around ~303 to 313 I believe. Still fun using them online and beating faster cars with more power points.

Have you tried the Rocket RX? It's great fun to drive, a very good balance between grip and driftability. I also like the Razor a lot, so you might like the Rocket RX too.

I haven’t had time to dive too deeply into the new season, but there are new bundles for the Tristar and Speedemon.

The weekly race is pretty simple, just a race around the Hilltop course in the Rocket RX with gold, silver, and bronze being handed out based on how quickly you win it. The monthly (well, bi-monthly) event is a time attack around the Hilltop circuit with time added at each checkpoint. You’re in the Tristar against a fleet of slow moving Cardinal taxis. It’s nothing we haven’t seen before.

It (Getaway Chase) is new to me, as I only bought the game fairly recently :)

I found it quite good fun. I'd had traction control on for winter, as I found it didn't seem to hurt my times in the snow, but you definitely want it off for this one. I probably tried it about 10 times before getting 672k, top 5%. I'd guess the top scores might be using the "exploit" on this track where you spin the car through 180 degrees to slam the rear of the car into the barriers for the tightest turn. I didn't use that myself.

Edit: Wow, I've just watched a video of a top score and it's worse than I thought, it's an exploit not an "exploit". There's a way you can drive through the tightest bit and reset the car to save loads of time :(

The "Getaway Chase" thing is my favorite of the Tournament events I think. It has a strange "just one more try" kinda thing to it. Managed 755k (without using that reset BS) but I can definitely do a bit better, but just can't seem to catch a break with the taxis wrecking.

Up to 446k Fame so almost can get the Hotbomb... Such nonsense that you only get Fame from Tournament mode, they really need to change it so that all gameplay pays out some Fame, even if it's a small amount. Locking one whole currency to one mode with a limited selection of events and then dropping a stupid expensive thing to buy that people need to grind for is beyond lame in my opinion. If they want it to be a trophy for "hardcore" players to show how much they love the game or whatever, then reward ALL of the players who love the game and play it a lot, not just the ones playing Tournament mode.

I fired up Wreckfest for the first time in about a month. I did some online racing and discovered there’s now a version of the Motorcity track that has steel ramps all over it? I had no idea.

That's been there at least since I got the game last summer. It's good fun in a Trophy Runner with fully soft suspension, locked diff and full rear brake bias.

Just watch out for the 90 right at the end of the longest straight when running clockwise.

If it wasn't for the notification I got for the patch today. Don't think I would have realized that there has been a new Tournament update. It's been so long since the last one. With a new track as well, which is a very nice surprise. Honestly thought we'd seen the last of new content being added to this game.

The new livery bundles for the Tristar and Roadslayer GT are okay. Nothing too exciting, imo.

We should be getting a game update in a day or two, but in the meantime, here are the Nintendo Switch trailer and gameplay videos.

Edit: I spoke too soon. The update just happened. No new cars or race tracks. A new bundle for the station wagon and the tournament returns to the Wrecking Playground.

With the rewards dwindling I can only hope they are working on a new Wreckfest game for us.

Yeah, it's probably a bit unfair to say after how much content the developers have added to the game since release. But I don't feel like there is too much incentive to play anymore. Hopefully they are putting all their effort into a sequel.
