I think it's because of the technical accuracy and connection to the cars Gran Turismo 4 affords us. And it simply gets better the more we live with it, and again, I doubt it will be like this with other games to the extent it is and will be with GT. It's simply a magical racing game. Just imagine what competition will be like with Gran Turismo 5!! AUGH! I can barely contain my excitement!!SphinxEven in the BC we are seeing much closer time margins that has never been seen before in GT. I wonder why this is?
KolyanaCongrats to all podiums ... unlucky Jerome, I thought you had it this week.
SHigSpeedhOt, veil,
I watched both replays at lunch. Impressive!
I think the difference between winning and losing this week came down to hOt braking JUST BARELY too much going under the bridge and setting up to accelerate out a hair slower. That and veil using every last RPM before shifting. There are a handful of shifts where hOt probably shifted on the light and veil shifted at absolute max RPM. That gap pulled in those 0.01's of a second may have made all the difference.
I'm amazed that veil could come back from nearly a tenth down at T1 to win.
hOt: I noticed the driving on the grass shenanigans you mentioned. Didn't seem to make any difference on your rate of acceleration based on the analyzer data. At first I was wondering if the drag to the finish cost you the race, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
I'm always impressed and amused that even though both of these guys use somewhat different brake/gas philosophies (veil uses both feet always whereas hOt is either on or off on pedal or the other at all times with no overlap) you guys end up so close at the line. One thing that I know for sure is that you both make full advantage of the braking enhancement of downshifting early to buzz the engine. For some reason I think I have a problem with my DFP because the game just won't let me downshift that early much of the time.
Unless you really zoom in and stretch the scale on the analyzer display, it almost looks like the same trace. Incredible that you two can brake at the absolute same spot corner after corner.
Bravo!
I'm not worthy!

...and here I am after a very long night at work chasing idiots around a sewage treatment plant I've got to get a new job!fasj641853 submitted times, the most i see in a long time... now, just waiting for somebody, who always has the average...
Nope. It did happen not long ago : GT4 WRS, week 2.SphinxShame I didn't submit my time because:
1'04.782 Small_Fryz
1'04.782 VTRacing
1'04.782 Sphinx
Strange, that would never happen in any earlier GT game series unless it was a 0-400/0-1000m run out, or some other straight line licence test. Even in the BC we are seeing much closer time margins that has never been seen before in GT. I wonder why this is?
T13RI'm having some problems with the USB to PS2 connection, gonna try a reboot and see if that fixes it.
Edit:Alright I fixed that, turns out my slim PS2 doesn't like my Xport CD. Good thing I kept my old PS2, even if it will not read any DVD games or movies, it still reads CD's
But now I have no clue which replay is which, they are all named the same. Gotta find Arwin's replay manager.
Edit 2: I can't seem to find a Replay Manager for GT4... I'll assume for now that the last ghost replay save file that appears in Xport is also the most current save. So I'll post that one up. Can someone please verify it?
Small_FryzVTRacing, what are you doing!! its MY time not yours!
Well I don't have a second memory card so I'll try to figure something out. Since I only use my PS2 for GT4 I could keep a game save on my mem card only. So if I save a ghost replay, I'll know exactly what it is once in the Xport software. Only thing though is that I normally like to save a few replays if one sector in one lap is much better than another lap so I can review all of it and try to improve. I guess once I'm done I could just keep the better lap or race.flat-outWelcome to the "pain in the @$$" GT4 replay system
As far as I know, many people are using 2 memcards. They keep the second one empty and copy the replay they want to export onto it. It's then easy to export it on the USB stick or through the USB link.
BTW, my Xport doesn't load into my new slim PS2 either.
VTRacingOk Small_Fryz, I challenge you to Rock, Paper, Scissors to decide the result!!
( *Good old rock, nothin' beats that* )
Congrats to everyone ; props to CFM for dragging the BC competitors in by running their race
And I finally knocked SHigSpeed off after a couple of weeks of close defeats, yay! I was so happy when I saw my time come up, all I wanted was a time in the 1'04s.
And my secret: I ran RM on the rear to give me better balance.
Here's my replay (PAL)
