X²- Epilogue

Route X
1:30 AM, Day of Route X Grand Opening
Somewhere East of Nojimazaki Point, Japan
Conrad, having invited the two to the opening of Route X to the public, requested they come early.

Just as I remembered it...
The 10k stretch of road stood before him like an enormous runway.

Mal on Left, John on right, and Conrad in middle-left.

The three of them come back to the pit to discuss what Mal was about to do.
The brothers had told them everything about X1 and X², and how it appears at 400km/h.

...and we've come here because the only way to eradicate X1 is to go faster than it. And that requires a lot of space.

Conrad takes a minute to absorb what he's just been told.

Well...as long as you dont bloody kill yourself in the process, then I think it would work. The tarmac might disintegrate at 800 though...

Right...
I'll go prep the X1. Get suited up, Mal.

The finale is next! Expect it ~Late sunday-Early Monday

I can't wait to see how this pans out. 👍

X1 vs

3:30 AM
Route X
Somewhere East of Nojimazaki Point, Japan
The brothers spent an hour and a half revising aerodynamic tweaks, gearbox settings, and suspension adjustments until a final, optimized version of X1 had been created. It was as physically ready as it could be.

Note:Mal, John, and Conrad all have intercoms.
Ok...1...2...3...ignition

The X1 started up in it's usual flair; the idling of 4000 revs echos through the facility.

John takes a deep breath; Ready, Mal?

Mal, with an intense look behind his helmet, simply nods.

He accelerates, hitting ~250km/h easily.

The revised settings mean he hits 390 km/h by the end of the tunnel.

As predicted...Just as Mal hit's 400km/h.

I'm Back! That familiar voice screams.

Lola...It ends here!

X² passes easily, almost rendering the optimizing useless.

Why end it here...I've jus-us-us-t star-r-r-te-d-d!
A bit of a stutter had developed...

And Mal could see why; Sparks were flying out from X² at a phenomenal rate.

Lola...you're dying. Mal says with a bittersweet expression.

No no no no no no no no...
Yet more sparks fly from the rear.

Just admit it...
...No! I will-

Mal passes for a split second.

-NOT!
The world becomes silent for a second; Mal had passed X².

A sudden burst of speed comes up, ripping a bit of the tarmac.

Mal's hearing returns, and the speed rises from 450km/h to 500km/h!

Never!

Mal pulls in behind X² to draft.

He goes for another pass-

-but falls short.

Falling back behind X², Mal suddenly sees the speed:

600!

650!

700! Mal nearly falls out of the draft.

750!

800! X² was now pulling away, and was still spraying sparks at Mal.

8...50 Mal was beginning to breathe heavily; his senses were slowly failing.

Damn! X1 was now the one spitting sparks.

Oh S***- the turn!

"The Turn" was a large banked corner that would provide extra Gs to any vehicle; even street cars taking the turn would hit 2.5G.

And Mal was incoming at 850km/h; the Gs would most likely kill him.

AAAAHHRRGGGHHH!!! Mal tried hard to survive the massive 10G of lateral force being exerted on him.

Must-

-not...

Lolaaaaaaa!

Mal had passed X², but his vision was too blurred to see anything.

With his vision returning, he looks back.
Lola...Give up-

Suddenly, X² disappears!

Ah! I've done it! I've-

Mal looks forward to see something staggering-

It's not over, Mal. It never will be!

This concludes the story of X².
Korza493 as Mal

Open ended finish? 👍 You really made GT5's camera give the entire situation a good effect. Adding more depth. 👍

Who would like to know who Lola is?

12 unique people who say "Yes", and I may do a small side story on her!

Do it, it will add to this great finale. 👍

One thing that turned me away from viewing this excellent story was the HUGE pictures. When you have several pictures on one page at about 1200 pixels it takes a while to load.

Anyways, do it!

Epilogue
Author's note: This is told from the 1st person of Mal

gtdlc2.jpg
Predictably, Route X was a success. Hundreds of people per day, coming in just to mindlessly run their cars to their limits. I oppose the idea of releasing our secret disclosed area, but I shouldn't complain. Free money is coming in, and I dont need to do jack 🤬 to get it either...

After 70 years in the business of Gran Turismo, we decided to take a break. It had been a hard 70 years, being invaded by Conrad's team of crack "engineer plotters" in our little town of Le Mans, then being deported to Japan...It wasn't all bad, though. We got to work with amazing machines, from 60s Le Mans Prototypes, to Group C and breaking the 400km/h barrier. All done with our trio; Conrad, John, and I. That fourth man, the Simulations director, was never present in times of need, though. I wonder who he is...

John had decided to go to Laguna Seca to start a new career with the Forza Motorsport Association. I, however, decided to take a different route...

San Francisco, Valentine's Day
I've been living here in the Chinatown Hilton for about 2 weeks now, and I've just about got settled.

I step outside into the lobby: a mass of people rushing in and out through the front doors. Tourists, mainly.

Walking outside, I walk into Portsmouth Square Plaza; standing in the same spot was the "Empress of China", a hotel with unpleasant memories...

I take a seat among the many other elderly chinese, as they watch their grandchildren play in the old pavement.

As I settle down, a familiar voice greets me:

"Malcovitch Vincente."

"It's been a while, Lola"

Lola sits down next to me, her familiar black dress draped down past her knees.

"Perhaps we could start again?"

"We should start now..."

She holds my hand in her's...
