The CPU (Artificial Intelligence) will take control of the players car once the R3 button has been pressed.
The player can regain control of their car once they press L3. This effect is reset every new race and replay, so to enable the CPU control again, you'll need to press R3 again during that.
The player is still technically in control, as they have access to changing viewpoints and looking behind them, etc.

Ok but I was looking for a more technical explanation on how this was created and is it normal for the car to go of the road.
So say I do the Formula GT championship the AI takes control of my car and does it drive like all the other cars in that race or would it drive like a Beginner sunday cup driver if you get me.
I was also just wandering does the no tyre wear effect the AI or do they still take tyre wear.

Hey @Xenn, I recently got a hold of GT2000, and I decided to try out your codes, and the results were... interesting, to say the least. So without further ado, I'll show you the results:
Infinite time: Well, it's exactly as advertised.
If you haven't noticed, you can glitch out of the course by pushing your way into the tire walls at the beginning of the track.
Control the Nissan Skyline: Works as well:
I went to find out how the Evo is doing and, as I expected, the poor AI is trying to get back into the track, but fails miserably:
Control the Altezza:
Now here is where things get weird. I went back to find out how these lovebirds are doing and at first, it was predictable:
However, I noticed that the Skyline didn't move at all. My first guess is that the AI bugged out. And then I moved:
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD! You can control the Skyline AS WELL as the Altezza. Unfortunately, this was as far as I could go, since my "PlayStation" crashed a couple of seconds later.
Upon further testing, I found that whenever you switch between cars mid-race, you can control the previous car you had. This doesn't seem to apply to the Evo for some reason, as the AI automatically takes control of the Evo. Now why does the Evo get an AI and the others don't, and why I'm able to control them, is far beyond my knowledge.

I e been wondering, for Gran Turismo 4 is there codes such as Reset Money (Back To 10,000) all cars unlocked in Arcade mode and an instant win code for single and series races and maybe a MAX points code for series challenges?

I do not know those codes. I'd like to edit the Credits with my cheat device, but we have to know what offset the PS2 thinks about when you edit the money. It would be cool though.

With the help of the code, you just go to any cup and select replay mode. Instead of showing a replay, a pre-race screen comes up and let's you drive the car which normally you watch in replay mode. Also the game still counts your position after you finish the race like you played normally. Can anyone share that code? I am searching it for a month.
edit: This code also enables you to play with ai's engine sound.

By default, the required (Set 1) code is this:

This may seem crazy, but I found a way to get Racing Modified & Special cars into Arcade Mode. It is like EncounterGTR's code that is shown here, but I hexed this one in the full U.S. version of the game.

EDIT: Nope, doesn't seem to be this one. I'll keep looking though.
EDIT2: In GT2, I found an interesting camera by using the view changer and setting it to BA. It initally looked like another high view where you can't see your car, but when you steer, the track moves vertically, rather than horizontally like all other cameras. The purpose of this is unknown, but it makes for a pretty funny visual effect.

But problems keep coming. Pause menu comes up during the race after 30 seconds and just pauses the game. The game doesn't respond to the buttons I pressed at pause menu. What am I doing wrong this time?
