Ah, that's what confused meNever heard them called quarter lights before.
It's probably an older expression which has stuck around in English English longer than it has in U.S. English

Yup never heard that before either. Always called them a vent window and places like LMC that sell them list them as vent windows. I wish new cars had them...
Some have the window itself (i.e. a divider between the glass that drops and the vent window/quarterlight), albeit not one you can open. Would be interesting to know what the most recently produced car was that allowed you to open them. I'm guessing something made in the early 90s, if you don't count stuff like the classic Beetle that was made into the 2000s.

We fixed the Lincoln today. Just had to unplug the old TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) and plug in a new one ($35 part) and it ran great.
Well I drove it today, and it ran soooo much differently than it had when it was having problems. First off, the random acceleration is gone. Secondly, the spontaneous revving has stopped. Thirdly, it's running so much better. It feels like it's gained horsepower. It's definitely faster. It's so nice not having to worry about leaving your car idling for more than a few seconds.
I hate TPS systems. Much rather have a throttle cable through the firewall so there is a less risk of failure.
Made a new video.

I apologize about the wind noise.![]()
That Town Car has one thing a lot of cars on the roads don't have: presence. When you see that thing coming around the road, you notice it. Nice horn, too.![]()
I must be thinking of something newer then where it's all done by computer. Press the pedal, computer sends signal to throttle body to open/close.
That's just known as an electronic throttle.
Sometimes they suck, if they're matched with a mushy gas-mileage-friendly map, but they can also be as sharp as the sharpest cable setups, which is cool. Plenty of cars offer a button that lets you choose at least, so you're rarely stuck with the mushy one.
Certainly no less reliable, as you seem to be implying. Electronic throttles can't accidentally snag, nor will their non-existent cable snap. Cables, by and large, are pretty rubbish in cars. Speedo cables go wonky after several years, clutch cables snap, handbrake cables stretch and need constant adjustment, cable-operated gearshifts have sod-all feel... they're just long, snake-like bits of fail for the most part![]()
Yes I saw you're face at 0:46 now just to hear your voice. Josh what were you doing with your hand.
Man you really need to uncork that exhaust.
