I have been collecting race cars for a while now.

Yesterday I got back up to 10 Million after grinding a few days so I could get the F10, 10 Fararri.

SO, I get it and go try to take it for a spin like all my other newly aquired race cars and I can't drive it in any A or B Spec event.

Is this some kind of joke to put an awesome Fararri race car in the game with a 10 Million $ price tag and you can't drive it in any races.

You got to be kidding :ouch:

i don't have one but could it have anything to do with some kind of restrictions? (tires, engine)
if not you can find some online space to unleash it

I can only think it has something to do with the licensing agreement because it's certainly not race restrictions as you can use the Formula GT and X2010 in any race.

A Fararri is that one?:

You are not the first one to find that out hehe.
Only in practice, and online 👍 or 👎!

EA owns the license for Formula 1 racing games, that's why you can't use the F2007 or F2010 in any race with AI.

Wow, there are still people out there who don't know the Ferrari F1s are useless!

Yeah, can't A or B spec them. Practice and Online F1 only rooms

It can't even be used for 2 player races. Yay, the only reason I bought the damn thing.

Complex One.

I guess your answer lays somewhere between licensing-based Bermudian Quadrangle consisted of:

- Ferrari Spa. Licensing Division (actual copyright owner of everything in the world with Ferrari branding on it),

- FOA (Formula One Administration) - company that holds the commercial rights to Formula One. These rights are granted to FOA by the FIA under the terms of the Concorde Agreement and are managed by Formula One Management.

- Codemasters - which holds the actual licensing rights for everyting F1 related in video-games untill end of 2011

- Polyphony Digital - who used some loop in licensing contract between upper-mentioned FOA (FOM) and Codemasters probably founded and initialised by above mentioned marketing/promotional/licesing division of Ferrari Spa, granted under unknown circumstances

Only logical answer was that Ferrari and Polyphony Digital agreed about inclusion of both F1 cars in GT5, but they had to avoid any real "usage" in order to save themselves from backslahes that would probably come because of various copyright/license infringements that very existance of those cars in GT5 could start.

This is the correct answer.

OP you wasted several million credits.

They should have used the McLaren MP4-25 anyway, it's a better looking car and the F10 constantly reminds me of that **** Alonso.

hahaha, yeah i would like that one too, it's a shame it's not in with all kinds of licences and what not

In my opinion, you shouldn't be able to enter one of the existing races with the FGT, X2010 or an F1 car anyway, as it's like taking a Ferrari to Sunday Cup.

Getting an expensive car and thinking you will get the money back in cash is mostly not happening.

You can at least go to Practice and take part in one make races with the F1, can you not? (even if it means no money or xp)

I'm wondering why PD even bothered to put in a car that is mostly useless...

And reading all those hoops PD jumped through, I'm *really* wondering why they can't find a way to backdoor EA and get some Porsches in here...

They couldn't put other F1 cars in the game because FOM and Bernie Ecclestone own the rights and images for those cars. Ferrari is the only F1 team that actually owns the rights to its car and its likeness and that's why these 2 cars are in the game. So, you are allowed to see them and drive them, but due to Codemasters owning the rights for a "F1 racing game" you are not really allowed to race them much. If Codemasters allowed PD to have F1 racing in the game, than nobody would buy their game because PD's physics model is so much better.

Same thing with the NASCAR license, whoever holds the rights to the NASCAR racing game (EA still?) allows them to use the NASCAR name and images as long as it doesn't do anything to directly interfere with sales of their own game. Since GT5 has arguably the best physics and graphics of any console racing game, nobody would buy the regular version of the NASCAR game if you could do full races in GT5. So they let us have a taste of it in GT5 with the hopes that we will want a full game of it and buy their game so they can get some money too.

I believe they did. I haven't actively looked for them, but aren't there RUFs in the game?

EA's NASCAR licence was expiring anyway (2009) and they had no intention of renewing it, it was basically free until Activision bought the rights last year.

He, He... Another Victim... Lucky me that I predicted that. No F1´s for this husky:D

I dunno what everyone's complaining about, I'm just happy to have them in. A race series would have been cool, but not with just 2 Ferraris :P

I'm happy to have them for time attack and online honestly.

So the only reason they're in there is to pad PD's already ludicrously over-duplicated car list?

The fact that they have other playable Ferrari's in the game shows that it's not a Ferrari license issue, but a Formula 1 one. I'm also guessing they added the Formula GT race and car to attract the F1 fans away from that other successful F1 game.

Technically speaking, the Formula GT isn't an F1 car and is only very loosely based on one. If you read the description it's a "what if" car, much like the Red Bull X2010. It creates downforce through ground effect, has all driver aids fitted and has winglets on the car, all things banned in F1.

I think Ferrari threw a tantrum because there is a Red Bull in the game. If it was a licencing issue the F2007 wouldn't be allowed to race in GT5 Prologue. It was the 'God' car in prologue, which is why i think Ferrari let them use it.

BTW considering GT5 was meant to originally meant to be released before the 2010 F1 season had started (in Japan at least) does anyone else think PD may have modelled the F60 as well?

They more than likely did and the F2008 as well.

I don't get why they even bothered including the cars if you can't even use them in any game mode.

Rufs are not based on porshes, they are porshes but aftermarket

im guessing thats why the redbull x1 was added, due to ea owning f1 rights

Because they are fun to drive? I've put more miles on my F2007 from online racing than all my other 270 odd cars combined.
