You Have to try Motion Control Steering

After using both steering control methods, what will you permanently use in GT Sport?

Being able to use the motion function of the DualShock 4 for steering is awesome I have to say.

Benefits are that it enables you to have more finesse with your steering and you always have full access to the whole range of steering motion regardless of your speed while driving, countersteering is arguably a lot easier and instant too! It just feels a lot more ‘direct’, hard to explain.

Lastly, it frees up your left analog stick for any extra button assignments you may want to map to that.

Feels weird for a while but all I’m saying is that it’s worth giving a try for a few hours until you start to get a feel for it. Personally I’m loving it.

Hmm, I will definitely try! 👍

Does it work similar to the xbox "wireless" speed wheel? Because that thing was a joy to use.

I’ve never used one of those Xbox wheel things, but all I can say is it’s a lot of fun and with enough practice I reckon I’ll be as quick if not quicker by using the motion steering and less prone to spinning out

I have enable motion control on the DS4 and I did one race with and I must say it works like a charm. Really worth a try guys 👍 Thanks @Blindside92 for the tip

First lap was a bit funny because you turn the controler in the air but after a few corners it works pretty natural. Takes a couple of races to be completely adapted but I think I'll use it more often and I will surely use it if the controller issues aren't fixed.

I'd give that a try cos it sounds excellent (I play Mario Kart with motion controls). However I can't change any settings in the game or under options as it causes the game to crash..... :-(

This is one of those features people are going to catch on to slowly over time. I was singing its praises back in the closed beta days and no one seemed to give it a serious try. Once you get used to motion steering you'll be able to go faster. Why wouldn't anyone want to do this?

I've been using them for the past half an hour and I'm simply astonished by how great they feel. Precise, smooth, not janky in the least.

I think I'm going to use them full time?

It’s it better than Motorstorm? I gave it a good solid attempt, but it seemed more like a novelty compared to using the stick.

Has anyone figured out the best economy of motion? Is it holding the DS4 like a steering wheel? I’ve had my best results having it somewhat flat and pushing and pulling the “wings” of the controller.

Are you telling me you get those fast times I see online with a DS4? I saw you at the top of the kart list last night.

Where do you find leaderboard times of other players? I could only see my own laptimes in time trial with different cars I have driven. Would be nice to see what time my friends/others are doing on those tracks :)

when you enter an online race there a tab next to the exit tab that will let you view the leader boards.

I've been using the motion controller for pretty well most of the demo and I find I can keep up a lot better than using the joysticks. It's a good in intermediate between a controller and a wheel.

Have you tried using the Shifter Kart yet? THe countersteer in that thing is next to impossible.

That race came up the other day, had a quick test, but had to give up - that one was one for the wheel I think. All the main kart cars seem to be fine

The kart was very difficult, but not impossible. I may default to a joystick for it in the future.

I had to turn the controller steering to -2. Although I have to admit I don't know if it helped since I was using a wheel *shrug* I managed a couple 43.5 laps back to back, but I have to go back and find a better line for that last kink.
