Your Biggest Mistake in GT4

:) This happens if i skip over to Grand Theft auto for a few days. Every car in that game drives like a cartoon.

Try being side swiped by an opponent, then trying to figure out how to get out the car (this is GT4 I'm playing...) and blow the person up with a RPG.

Wait... this is GT4... not GTA4! :dunce:

Or...one of my biggest mistakes is after playing a game with over-the-top crashes like Burnout Revenge or a game where you force people to spin out by bumping into the side of them (Cruis'n series) or clear a path for the missile carrier while trying to destroy fictional buildings (Blast Corps)--or explode unexpectedly (San Francisco Rush series), I wind up hitting other cars who are braking in turns in GT so hard they slam into the wall or spin out off the course.

Or...after playing Ridge Racer V, I sometimes forget that some cars have 6 gears and I only shift up to 5th gear, and--not knowing--pretend that the car has a broken gearshift when playing in manual transmission.

lol. That happened to me once when I was testing the speed on my Formula GT @ the test course. I only went up to 6th gear instead of 7th. Then I checked the speed chart and wondered why my newer speed was about 20mph slower.

Selling the tank car whilst i was checking it's weight in the "sell car" clipboard menu thing.

I worked HARD for that thing, i struggled alot with the 3 lap battles, and i didn't even drive it once. Now i have to do it again on a separate mem card, and then buy it, again.

Selling my Peugeot 905 for the last few hundred grand for an R8. Major mistake. I loved my Pug. and i was quick in it too.

Actually, did you have your game set with a "restricted" save? You could have just rebooted your playstation and gone back to where you saved last, and your car would still be in its garage. I know all this 'cuz I've made the same mistakes.

Did not have it on restricted. never bothered to change that. probably should.

I could probably run though the 3 laps again fairly quickly, since once you beat them the first time, you know how to again.

yeah, the autosave is a blessing and a curse ;)

if its on, i mess things up and it autosaves.

If its off, i turn it off thinking it was on.

The autosave is convenient but also frustratingly limited. It's a stupid system in the long run.

I always have my games on restricted. This way the only time it saves is if I tell it to save, or if I get into a different car. But what if I just want to buy a car just to try it out? What happens then is the game automatically saves. Now I'm stuck with this car, even if I don't want it.

And you can't LOAD games like you used to be able to. WTF? If I switch memory cards, I have to re-boot the PS2 just to start a different game! :banghead:

Actually, Parnelli, you can test a car, in it's stock form.

Buy it, but do not get in it.
Go to arcade mode, select your model, race it in practice mode.
If not happy with said car in stock form, turn off PS2, reboot, and you should be good to go.

HOLY 🤬 no kidding! Cool, I never thought of that!! 👍👍👍 +REP +REP

which Parnelli said he uses

I prefer the restricted saves over the other option. At least there's less chance of making a mistake. Actually, I would prefer they get rid of the GT4 save system and instead use the old-fashioned LOAD/SAVE system.

My worst was Selling the Sauber when I found out it only had 5 gears... Then finding out that it's a great car and having to do all 15 races in the Formula GT again!

I won like the wind in that thing!

Was that a mistake was it?.

Mine is not having a UPS.
I have had to deal with about three powercuts, whilst trying to go for max points (three, I know, can be considered lucky, but it is my mistake)
