I noticed GTP still uses the old 4:3 sized screen for embedded Youtube videos, making widescreen videos very small. I also noticed there is an hd version tag - [youtubehd] - but that's too big for non hd videos, making them a bit blurry.

In other forums I visit the default embed option is 16:9 already and I was wondering if that's a difficult change to make over here, because I see no reason to keep the 4:3 screen.

Here's how the 16:9 screen would look like:

Thanks. :)

That's an excellent idea and an easy change. 👍 Regular embedded YouTube videos are now 16:9.

Sorry for the possibly silly question, but will this change on the forums force a widescreen aspect ratio for 4:3 (i.e. non-widescreen) youtube videos, or will they simply display black bars on the sides?

EDIT: Apparently it won't force the 16:9 aspect ratio, as can be seen in this topic.

The preview comes up as 16:9 but the video itself plays at 4:3 with black bars.

Wow. I completely read your Edit part wrong and said the exact same thing. :dunce:
