Zero Cup: zero tuning (PS4) - STOPPEDPS4

I thought I recognised a few names from GTP when I joined the Escort server! :dopey:......đź‘Ť.
Thanks for letting me join in and race with you guys. Great racing! It was a lot of fun!
Always a pleasure to race with a good group of clean racers đź‘Ť.
I'm glad that RUF I raced at Imola was AWD! ... I needed it to get out of the gravel traps! :dunce:.....đź‘Ť

So I've thought about it again and until we get private lobbies, we need to keep things simple. For example, trying to have custom starting grids is impossible when new players are constantly joining in. Also we should be able to handle not being able to have the audio chat, partly because at this rythme, we'll be more than 8 very soon.
Also I need to be a bit more decisive when issues arise. I'll do better next time.
And I'll broaden my lobby selection.

So I suggest we ditch reverse grids, points (we never got to that part anyway!) and the limit on identical cars. I'm convinced the GYF is still a good thing but we need to use it intelligently. No need to confuse someone who doesn't know about it. And setting a 80kph minimum speed limit was a good idea.

Now we could have a practice/quali for the first race, to give time for the team to join in and also because I'd like to let other people join in during qualifying and for one race. We could observe them, see who's being a good fellow driver and then switch to a new lobby, inviting anyone interesting we've met, like we did with SW__10. From race 2, we'd keep a lid on the lobby.

So in short, no kick for quali and race 1, switch lobby and skip straight to the races while kicking out restlessly.

Please feel free to comment and suggest!

That's were I went wrong! :dunce:

Still the McLaren was much more fun, though I did realise after about three laps the TC was on 1. I turned it off thinking "I don't need that" :mischievous:, but it quickly went back on after I realise I had accustomed myself to it. :embarrassed:

Some good clean racing last night, we had a good bunch đź‘Ť, and a good giggle too (so not all serious) I had a good battle with @Bonio71 at brands, who kept cool and smooth despite my attacks at passing. It makes a big difference when fighting for position, to trust in the other persons driving.

Looking forward to the next one.

I would suggest we need to act swiftly upon our plans, as the room (once noticed) started to become busy with randoms.
Also if being served with a penalty, we should establish a method to slow down without effecting cars behind!
Unlike the GYF that is at our discretion, we have a small window to react to the penalty.

We should look at how long we actually do have?

Aside from a few points like above, I think we can make it work. If we have a big enough group we lock the room out too!

@Carlos Fandango found out that you have until the end of the lap to serve your penalty. I haven't been able to check this just yet but trust this is correct.

I'd say the idea is to behave with a penalty like you would with a blue flag.

Indeed the race at Brands hatch was a close affair, there were certain parts of the track were you gaining on me and I could see the gap getting smaller and smaller. I also noticed that you were lining up a few overtaking moves and we did come pretty close. Overall it was a very clean race, it's just unfortunate that we can't save replays.

I think we all had a good laugh yesterday there was some classic quotes "Old Ferrari vs New Ferrari, the pressures on you (me)" need I say anymore!

Great racing guys, I think the workaround private lobbies is a work in progress, and it will become more efficient, and @WarriusZero you did a great job in keeping the lobby clean!

@SW__10 I recognised you from the time trials on GT5/6 and from gtplanet and informed the guys in our party chat. See you haven't lost any of your pace.

Nice selection, đź‘Ť

How shall we decide which car we will opt for? "first come" seems a little unfair, I'm sure we could agree car selection in the forum before the race, also lets people familiarise themselves with the car of choice (BUT NO TUNING!!!).

Did you record the list of cars available for the first two lobbies?

Cheers

1. I haven't decided how/if the car selection will be made
2. I am working on a spreadsheet that tells you everything but you're right, I need to insert here the list of cars for each category. Update incoming

For Tuned at Vellelunga we should have...

3x BMW 1M stage 3
3x BMW M3 E30 Step1
3x BMW M3 E92 Step1
4x BMW M4 (Pre-order DLC)*
3x BMW Z4 E89 Step1
(I may have to check the first three car qty's, poor pic quality)

Lobby Assists
AC - Off
TC - Factory
ABS - Factory
SC - Off
Fixed Setup - Off (obviously we know the score here)

Race distance = 5 Laps

* - This raises another point! Do all of us have the pre-order packs? I do not, because i bought pre-owned?

Edit: If you would like some help on spreadsheet/data collection, let me know. I had a similar idea too

The preorder bonus cars will be available at some point this week so if you want to, you can get these (up to 9) but it's completely optional.

I plan to get all the DLC, do we know if these pre-order cars be included in the Season pass, i would assume not (otherwise there would be UPROAR!) ;)

No, they're not.

The season pass includes the Japanese and red packs as well as the 3 Porsche packs.

The preorder cars are available separately from the season pass. Check the gtplanet news.

Ah yes, my bad, sorry had not noticed.

Thanks Warrius

Just so you are aware there is a significant difference in lap times for the tuned event at Vallelunga, the BMW 1M Stage 3 from my experience is faster than the other cars. You may have tested these cars so you may have a different view.

Just so you know in advance I won't be able to join until about 9:30 / 10pm this coming Monday.

I don't have any DLC ordered at the moment, and considering there are loads of cars I haven't driven, not sure I will get just yet. However I will get the Porsche pack.

Anyone around this afternoon/evening? I shall be on till around 10 or 11pm, not sure what time I'm starting though.

@WarriusZero spreadsheet looks good, but I've not had chance to use on my laptop yet. Sure it works though.

Lastly, and with thanks to @C Fandango I've got all available cars now :)

No problem:tup: you going online now?

Ok @WarriusZero , Question for you...

How are we picking cars?

From my findings
The E30 M3 is way off the pace. The Z4, is also down a few seconds, although it can hold on for a little, I doubt it would have the outright pace to pull in a win.

That leaves the 1M, M3 (e92) and M4, which are fairly close. They do seem to have different strengths, depending on your driving style, so could be interesting! These 3 accounts for 10 cars.

Is there more than 10 of us? Anyone care to share there findings / times etc.?

Laters

Until I have a better system, it's a bit '1st come, 1st served'. But yeah, the idea is to stick to one of these 3 faster cars and anyone else joining after that will have to do, probably, with a Z4. I'm expecting around 8 people so we should really be fine.

Are some of the group outside of this forum then?

That's it in a nut shell. Personally l get a faster lap time in the M4 over the 1M but think other drivers get a faster lap time than me in the 1M. Will do more testing to see if l can get the 1M to run round faster.

It's now looking very unlikely I will be able to make the race. Have to pick my daughter up from her training, she doesn't normally do Monday nights.

That'll teach me for ignoring the Wife :irked:.

Sorry Guys. I'll see if I can catch a later race if your still on.

If your daughter is 8 or more, she might be able to reach the pedals and drive herself to and back from training... Also she needs to stick to Wednesdays! :D

After discussing it with @C Fandango , I'm going to introduce a new principle to the Zero Cup: that of video evidence.
Check out the OP and Rule Book in a few hours, the idea is that you should save a record of your race in case you need to report an issue or you need to defend yourself if someone says you've been naughty.

Fully agree with this, in fact was thinking the same after watching the video above from @Bonio71 This is clearly what they have all done. It's also the only way we can capture any footage.

Yes daughter is 8 in December, it's been a while since she had a go on my rig. Should see how she gets on now ;)
