having the subject of an image off center is a common practice in photography and design. it makes for a more dynamic shot - evokes more emotion, leads the eye or draws the eye in, breaks up symmetry.

So they say, and in many cases I would agree. I do have a slight problem however with "known" photographic/art rules that must be obeyed, in that they don't always allow for changes in style or freedom of personal expression. When we all start having to use the rule of thirds with every composition aren't we training ourselves to only see that as pleasant to the eye? Sometimes we have to do something out of the ordinary to see that not everything has to look the same, evoke the same emotion, or even worry about symmetry (either the lack of or the intentional use of).

Some mixed shots from the last couple of days.

My favorites in the new addition would have to be the first one and the last two. You are doing a great job. 👍

i completely understand where you are coming from and agree with the concept of your retort, but will just respond with a quote from one of the article above...

Perhaps the most well know principle of photographic composition is the ‘Rule of Thirds‘.

The “Rule of Thirds” one of the first things that budding digital photographers learn about in classes on photography and rightly so as it is the basis for well balanced and interesting shots.

I will say right up front however that rules are meant to be broken and ignoring this one doesn’t mean your images are necessarily unbalanced or uninteresting. However a wise person once told me that if you intend to break a rule you should always learn it first to make sure your breaking of it is all the more effective!
---"

think of photography like jazz music - you must learn the theory of the rules, so that you may improvise all the better. if you understand the principles of why and when to break the rules, your personal expression will have more meaning.

and btw, the new photos are looking good!!! :D

Hadn't done an update in a while. Here's some shots from the last couple of weeks. I've been trying to use more standard cars, but they are much hard to take good pics of.

Haven't done an update in quite a while, just been too into taking pics rather than posting them. Also been doing quite a bit of editing lately. Really just learning how to use the editing tools in photobucket. Anyways, here are what I'm calling my "art shots". Going to try and get another update in soon with some left over pics from comps. Hope you all enjoy, and as always... comments welcome

Well this certainly took longer than expected! Trying to clear out a month's worth of pics, I got about 3/4 of the way through. Maybe I can get the rest posted this week. New respect to those of you that really stylize your galleries. This is a lot of work. Without further ado...
