agreed, lambo neeeeds a new version. The 458 Itallia makes the mercilago's ?SP? look old and out dated IMO.

Anyone else think that the Zonda's replacement is no where near as beautiful as the Zonda?

Yeah I agree, I think it looks incredible from the right angles but still not nearly as good as the Zonda. And sadly, like most manufacturers, they have dropped the manual gearbox :(

Apparently they are going to keep making the Zonda on a per order basis though if there is still demand for it

I don't mind it from this angle, but it's definitely no Zonda...

I know alot of people here think the grip of race tires are all wrong, and I'm not about address that (though it could explain the difference in lap times) but what I want to bring up is another Top Gear episode. The one where clarkson is playing GT4, driving an NSX at laguna seca, then he drives the actual track with the car and he eventually concludes that driving in a game you can go all out 100%, all 10 tenths, but in real life you prefer to live so you hold back and you only give 9 tenths.

Please dont bring up how this or that game is unrealistic, I just trying to talk about the diffences between real life racing and games in the sence of how far a driver will "push it".

Plus the Stig I imagine only has so many go's at his laps (however long the manufacturer leaves the car with them) while we have all the time we want to shave tenths off and get used to the car.

That's a good point, imagine lapping the Nordschleife in a Zonda R in real life. For sure you would leave abit in the tank because you want to come out of it alive. It took me at least half a dozen laps before I got a clean lap in without crashing, you don't get those chances in real life.

I would imagine the Stig's laps would be pretty on the money though, there's not a lot of danger on that track and we've seen when he pushes it too far (Koenigsegg CCX)

Yeah he's got tons of run off in the grass while we are stuck hitting a wall 4 feet into the grass. What a shame.

+1

But you forget to mention the physical nature of driving a real car as opposed to using a plastic wheel at home. The number of G's felt or the strength needed to turn the wheel etc. it builds up, after laps and laps your strength drops. Its a huge difference. Also the sense of speed is greater in a real car. You can easily see this in the game. Be in a turn and I am like "wow how slow is this" and look down to check my speed and its like 80 kmph. Most of the roads in my country is limited to 60kpmh and I would never go into a turn with that sort of speed.

bye bye Zonda my ass... this is a great car but c'mon... they have made waaaaay too many versions of it. get to the new car already. a decade with one car is enough. THAT GOES FOR LAMBO AS WELL

porsche have been doimg it for the past 30-40 years with the 91. and that goes for most companies too, ford focus, fiat punto etc

Well the new Pagani looks like the Zonda, but fatter for some reason. Also, the 911s is a timeless design, its a classic, and changing it dramatically would be stupid.

no im not too bothered - let people talk about what they want...

Im just getting a bit bored of putting a new post up for 5 mins later an admin strolling in to close it because he/she/it thinks that the search function is actually a good thing...

pretty much every post could be closed because each subject rolls into another...

Anyway rant done.

Zonda R Rules.

PS I love anarchy.

People can definitely talk about what they want - where it's relevant.

Here's a thread about Top Gear, in the proper sub-forum

Just because a car that's in GT5 is on the show, doesn't really make this a GT5 topic. The recent trend of trying to relate anything to GT5, no matter how tangential the connection, seems to be just to find the most traffic. We do have plenty of other parts of the forum where these discussions can take place 👍
