GT Sport E3 2017 Screenshot Blowout, Reveals New Lake Maggiore Track

Gran Turismo fans were treated to a brand new trailer and release window for GT Sport yesterday. Today, Polyphony Digital has followed that up with a new batch of screenshots for the sim racer, which introduce new cars and tracks.

The biggest reveal is the new Lake Maggiore circuit. Eagle-eyed viewers caught glimpses of the new circuit in the trailer, but the official images helpfully put a name to the track. Located on the south side of the Alps, the lake is shared between Italy and Switzerland. As you’d expect, it’s quite the picturesque location, but it also brings some additional surprises…

A sizeable group of new cars make their GT Sport debut in today’s images. No longer hidden amongst the pack, the Viper race car finally gets its time in the spotlight. Not only is the car found in Gr.3 form, it’s joined by a more tame Gr.4 version. Even more surprising, that model is pitted against what we can only assume is a massively-detuned Veyron Gr.4.

Lamborghini’s GT Sport roster also gets a substantial bump. Until today, the game contained only the hyper-rare Veneno. Now however, the lineup includes a trio of Huracans: the road-going model, the GT3 (in full No. 63 Grasser livery), and a Gr.4 machine.

In addition, we’ve also been given the first look at a rally-going GT-R, as well as the Peugeot RCZ Gr.B first confirmed as a pre-order bonus last year. The RCZ pulls double-duty actually, as it now appears (in heavily modified form) as a Gr.3 car too. Meanwhile, Volkswagen adds to the same class with the most unlikely of candidates: a Beetle. It does sport a mean-looking exhaust setup, though.

Looking past new cars and tracks, the image selection also gives us a few welcome looks at the menus. Mission Challenges, Photomode, Scapes — it’s all there.

What we’re especially curious about is the livery editor. Almost nothing has been said about this feature since E3 2016. With its recent official introduction to the series, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS seems a suitable candidate for the spotlight — especially in the evocative Gulf livery.

We’ll be on site at E3 again today, spending more time with GT Sport. Stay tuned for more news on the game.
