UPDATE: The European GT Sport closed beta sign-ups are back: enter your account here.
Earlier this month, Sony opened up registration for the hotly-anticipated Gran Turismo Sport closed beta. While the beta itself went live last Friday in the USA, and the American sign-up page is still active, the European equivalent has closed after less than two weeks.
Fans worried that they’ve missed their chance to sample GT Sport shouldn’t worry, as the page makes mention of “future beta enrolment” opportunities. Users that are selected, regardless of region, should check their PlayStation 4 notifications.
No reason has been given for the closure. It could be due to the sheer volume of applicants: Europe has been the Gran Turismo franchise’s largest market for over a decade, starting with Gran Turismo 4 in 2005.
As mentioned above, the US sign-up page remains active. It too has received plenty of international attention, as there have been numerous reports in GTPlanet’s GT Sport forums of hopeful beta testers signing up via US PSN accounts.
The Gran Turismo Sport closed beta is currently in phase one. Keep an eye on GTPlanet for further developments as they happen.
