The first race of the 2017 Formula One season is done and dusted (check out the results here). McLaren-Honda used the season opener as an opportunity to announce its latest partnership, with a name that should be immediately recognizable to sim racers.
In McLaren’s own words, Logitech is coming onboard as the Official Technology Peripherals Partner. The consumer tech giant is certainly a well-known entity, with Logitech products currently being sold in over 100 countries across the globe.
Executive Director of McLaren Technology Group Zak Brown wasted no time teasing that the relationship will be more than a simple sponsorship. “Together, we are already working on exciting plans for the future of our work together,” said Brown. “There is plenty to come from both McLaren-Honda and Logitech in our mutual offering for our fans and stakeholders alike.”
If a speedmark-emblazoned Logitech wheel is in sim racing’s future, it will be joining a handful of other marques already in the gaming accessory market. Ferrari’s prancing horse adorns numerous Thrustmaster rims, while Fanatec has replicas of both BMW and Porsche wheels.
No further details have been provided, so stay tuned to GTPlanet for future developments.
