Due to the broad range of video game conferences GT Sport has been appearing at lately, we’ve been witnessing a great deal of off-screen recordings the last few weeks. While arguably the biggest shock came from the surprisingly meaty Mercedes-AMG sounds we showed you earlier this week, the latest additions provide additional glimpses at what seems to be the latest build.
Coming to us care of MotoGamesTV during the recently-wrapped 2016 Warsaw Gaming Week, the videos cover both road and race cars. Up top is the Renault Sport R.S.01 proving itself against a pack of GT3 machines. While at first glance it looks as though the time of day is different compared to earlier videos, this is a likely byproduct of the footage being off-screen.
Next up is another car new to the franchise, Lexus’ raucous-looking RC-F. We’re again at Brands Hatch, but without a pesky pack of competitors to deal with. Of note is the penalty timer that pops up after venturing into the grass at Druids. From what we can see, the system requires the player to slow down of the accord, and while it displays in the expected time format, it doesn’t diminish at the same rate. It’s an interesting evolution of the system found in earlier titles.
The GTPlanet community has also pointed out two other important changes. The first is the migration of the blind spot indicators to the lower part of the HUD. The second is much more subtle; a small tweak to the chase cam has repositioned it closer to the car than before.
Looking to catch up on recently-recorded GT Sport gameplay footages? We’ve got you covered:
- Mercedes-AMG GT S at Nürburgring Nordschleife (Direct-Audio Capture)
- Subaru WRX Gr.B Rally Car at Fishermans Ranch
- Hyundai Genesis Gr.3 at Tokyo Expressway
- Alfa Romeo 4C at Brands Hatch
Hats off to community members TayeezSA and emula for quick news share.

Why don’t they let us have a demo with 2 or 3 cars and a couple of tracks!
Why not 10 cars and couple tracks.
Why not 130 cars and 14 tracks?
Why not 15 cars and 5 tracks?
What is the point of that penalty – it seems you can just carry on as if nothing happened and your penalty will count down whenever you have to normally have to slow down for a tighter corner – which equals no penalty! Unless you have to slow down and count the penalty time down within a certain time frame or your penalty gets added to, the system doesn’t work.
By the looks of it, if you fail to slow down enough after the initial penalty, it penalizes you every subsequent sector the amount displayed on screen. So, it doesn’t remove the penalty after a time, it keeps adding up unless you slow down, eventually reducing to zero… Seems like a fairly good way to make you ease off early to reduce your overall penalty, but not artificially slowing you down. Slow down penalties are annoying, so this is a welcome feature by me!
So, from what I understand, it basically lets you decide when to slow down and manage your overall penalty. You can either go flat out and get a larger penalty, but maybe get a better overall time, strategically slow down in corners and still get a good time, or slow down immediately, getting less overall penalty but taking a time penalty on the slow down.
Seems well thought out by PD!
We’ll have to see how it plays out, but if it counts slowing for a chicane or hairpin corner as “slowing down” and reducing your penalty time, it’ll be completely pointless.
It looks like you can change the mini-map from the new 3D mode to the old 2D mode. I’m very happy about this because in DC the 3D map throws me off really bad.
Any chance of seeing other tracks? I would love to see something completely different than what we’ve been shown so far to get a better idea of what will actually be made available. Seeing the same tracks kinda bores me and without knowing more about it, the chances of me getting this game are becoming more slim.
“More GT Sport videos, look, nice game, you have it? No, you dont get it!” “You need wait only 50 years and you can play demo… One car and half track maybe” Like this? This is torture for GT- fans :D
You forgot you have to pay for that demo.
So GTS will have 2 road tracks?
Fail. You can’t see the gauges (or really the whole dash) when the sun is setting?
This game treats shadows like it means there is zero light. So basically the lighting engine doesn’t account for light reflection. On a PS4 game.
If PD expect us to buy a PS4 and a new wheel for this game, they are going to be looking at some pretty disastrous sales figures.
I agree with you about the shadows. It’s still the same problem since GT5, we can’t see gauges! And why they don’t add more camera views? It’s useless because Poly knows what we want to see but keep their weird hood view.
Yeah this problem destroys, along with too low FoV, the whole incar experience for me.
The ‘fail’ here is actually with the recording, not the game. Should be obvious from the first video, some sections you can’t see anything it’s so dark despite being daytime. Other footage, even off screen at the same event, is not that dark.
It’s definitely the recording..plus the fact that shadows in GT games like 6 tend to block a HUGE portion of sunlight since there are just so many scattered like in the Nordschleife. The game looks good overall, I am just hoping PD fixes this lighting mess counting the cockpit cameras and maps. I don’t want to damage my eyes with those filters like in Silverstone on GT6 :(
“…Expect ‘us’ to buy…” who is us? Speak for yourself dude.
