New GT Academy Region for Eastern Europe

August is the big month for the race camp finalists from the four GT Academy regions – Russia, Germany, the USA and the eleven eligible European countries – this year, but Sony and Nissan have revealed a surprise for hitherto excluded gamers.

Players from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary have been given their own GT Academy competition in 2012 and it takes a somewhat unusual format – in order to enter, gamers must e-mail in a replay file of their best lap!

Vehicle: Amuse NISMO 380RS Super Leggera
Course: Deep Forest Raceway

Save the results:

  • In “Gran Turismo 5” select the GT mode
  • If the user already has the motor vehicle, you can skip this section. If not, please select and purchase the vehicle from the dealer menu. If you do not have enough virtual money, engage in further racing or vehicle sales to acquire the appropriate amount.
  • Select the Amuse NISMO 380RS Super Leggera car, go to Free Practice and select Deep Forest Raceway from Original Circuits
  • Tune your vehicle how you choose (Aerodynamics, Ballast, Engine, Exhaust, Tyres, TCS, ABS etc) and begin to compete with it.
  • When you have reached your best time, exit the track, select Save Best Lap Replay and save the results.
  • If you achieve better results after sending your replay, send the new result.

Submission of Applications

  • Go back to GT mode, select the Replay Theatre menu, click and choose the best time, select Saved Data Export (Export Data Save), then press OK.
  • The user data is stored on the PS3 game menu / Saved Data Utility (PS3) located under the (File name: Gran Turismo 5 Replay)
  • Save this file to a USB storage media (USB memory stick)
  • Send this file to the following e-mail address:
    • Hungarian players: gt.academy@e1event.hu
    • Czech players:  nissangtacz@justinms.cz
    • Slovakian players: nissangtask@justinms.cz
  • The e-mail “Subject” line into the following: “GT Academy / best time to result” (ie, for example.: GT Academy / 1:59:231)
  • The email includes the following: name, address, phone number, best time and the results PSN ID.

        For example:
        Example Laszlo
Budapest in 1055, some 5th Street
        06-70/1234-567
        1:52.437
        Petrol

The closing date for submissions is 8th September 2012. The top 30 ranked eligible players will be invited to attend national finals in their own country:

  • Czech Finals: September 15th 2012 – Letňany Shopping Center (Prague)
  • Hungarian Finals: September 22nd 2012 – Allee Shopping Center (Budapest)
  • Slovakia Finals: September 29th 2012 – Aupark Shopping Center (Bratislava)

The final itself will be held at the Hungaroring on October 21st 2012. At present the specifics of the ultimate prize is unclear, though a “real experience” in a “real race car” is promised for the winner of this GT Academy.

Full rules and eligibility requirements can be found at gtacademyhu.com, gtacademysk.com and gtacademycz.com.

I was there and got 7th fastest in the finals (Czech) :) It needs some changes to next year, but otherwise it was very good day for GT fans, very friendly environment too.

  2. Lococurling

How about Brazil and South América. We do really exist and there are many talents here as people playing Gt. When are you give us a chance?

  3. BestRacerEver

Stupid idiots. These countries are not eastern europe. Lithuania, latvia, estonia and poland are eastern europe, but stupid people even doesnt know about these countries except poland.

  4. Andreas

This is great news indeed. Im hoping that this is just the beginning and that there will be similar openings given for Scandinavian players to participate in the future.

I was about to order a ps3 with Gt5 and a wheel just to attend GTA, but found out I will not be able to participate at the moment. Crossing my fingers, and will indeed get the gear once I feel there is a chance that I will be able to participate at one point in the future. I hope Sony also sees this as a marketing opportunity; Im guessing Im not the only one in Norway, sweden, Finland or Denmakr sitting on the fence and waiting to join the competition.

Will everyone quit being a baby? Who the hell cares if it’s not in your country? It’s just GT Academy, it’s not like your going to win it anyways

    1. MyFavoriteGame

How can you guys say that? Not because you suck at GT5 doesn’t mean everyone else does. Please quit the ignorant trolling. If these countries don’t get a chance, then of course no ones going to win, plus according to Jordan, a significant amount of GTA finalist are active members of GTP.

You guys are making this sound like the Lottery, someone HAS to win this. Its not some internet “win a 2013 Camaro” scam. In time I hope all these guys get the chance to compete.

    2. Quakebass

Yeah, really, there’s some drivers here with SERIOUS talent, (Jann, for instance) that are in unavailable countries… And it’s more upsetting that around 50% of the world isn’t eligible for the Academy. Australia, NZ, Middle East, ALL of Asia, Brazil (and all of South America), Canada, Mexico (basically all of North America aside from the U.S.), Africa, and SEVERAL European nations ALL where some amazing drivers have come from, are excluded. The competing part of GT Academy is part of the fun. Not just the winning.

  6. Tomeggyilkos

100% agree Famine everytime i read GTA why not this country and why not that…pffff…whywhywhy :D

and my question is anybody got a good tune for this car because im not a tuner more like a driver? ;)

    1. SagarisGTB

Very true. All of these countries are part of Central Europe. The East-West cold war divide I’m sure the blogger is reffering to is becoming more and more outdated everyday.

  7. tpark103

I hope Canada, South America, Australia, and all the forgottens get there well deserverd chance soon. Instill you guy’s do I’ll be here fighting for you. :-) I know some of my most competive friends are without a doubt from these countries!!!!!!!

  8. Amac500

Each country has their own finals? That’s a total of 90 in those small countries? 1/3 of GT5 players must go, lol.

    1. Amac500

And I personally have no idea why those 3 countries weren’t in the European one and why Australia doesn’t have one because I honestly would have thought of Australia before Russia.

  9. Pit Crew

LoL You can only tune the Superleggera so much (430HP I think) a pretty good car choice, nothing over the top.

Congrats to Europe for finally getting a chance to participate.

  10. tpark103

This is a first. I think I like and I hope it goes smooth and hassle free. Good luck to all that are entering…

  11. stuntmonkeyfive

This is great news, expanding the countries involved will only improve the competition . Several friends of mine are very pleased about this announcement, good luck Comrades ;) One thing that I’m not too keen on is the lack of a Leaderboard, it reminds me of a “silent auction” where nobody knows what the best bid is until the competition is closed. I know my friends will be going “balls out” to try and qualify, so i hope they don’t get trumped by an “Alien” driver!

  12. rewan

    Hi…
I am from slovakia. But i cant choose slovakia in psn account. Can i live in slovakia and have czech account?

    1. Famine

It’s interesting how many people are treating this first expansion of GT Academy as being unfair because it hasn’t come to their countries yet – rather than great news that Sony/Nissan are expanding GT Academy to other countries…

And Poland are in the 2012 European GT Academy.

    2. Pit Crew

@ Famine Negative people use a lot of “energy” so basically negative minds over think things *Sigh* So sad

    3. TomBrady

Guys, I’m American. Just asking a simple question so actually you guys are the ones who are negative for assuming I was complaining. I’m just curious.

As we know there is a legitimate reason stopping them from doing a canadian GT Academy, just wondering if those countries have something preventing them. I have a friend from Estonia, hence my curiousity

    4. another_jakhole

The thing is, “rather than great news that Sony/Nissan are expanding GT Academy to other countries…”, so why ask? People are constantly saying that it’s unfair that certain countries haven’t been given a chance. That’s why we saw your comment like it was negative.

Clearly GT Academy is expanding quicker than ever. If you want to find out why certain countries haven’t been given a chance, hopefully, someone can explain that if they’re involved with this process. And people keep bringing up that PD NEEDS to focus on “not GT Academy”. Well, they aren’t wasting time on GT Academy, and it’s also not Kaz that would be making the final decision of where the next competitions will take place.

  13. Quakebass

It’s interesting; they gave no restrictions what-so-ever to what upgrades you can add to the car… So you can purchase ECU, engine, intake, exhaust, and turbo kits? I wonder if they didn’t take notice of this, or they purposely allowed it… either way, this’ll be interesting…

    1. Famine

Rats. I copy/pasted that from the Hungarian GT Academy site, while the Czech and Slovak ones spell it your way. I’ll assume the Czechs know their own language and correct that!

    2. karelpipa

Its okay Famine, my language is hard to write or learn either for you (british i think?) or hungarians :)

Anyway i’m going to Letňany in few hours to shop there :)

  14. Raggadish

They should do this for the nordic countries. Why not include Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark and Iceland? I guess they didn’t want all top 10 drivers being from the same region or something.

  15. Flaco13

That is awesome news for the players in these countries. Great to see the Academy to be expanding. Best of luck to all the hungarian, czech and slovakian competitors.

  16. m8h3r

How do you know if you’re doing good. You could run a 1:35.00 think it’s good and it turns out that people are running 1:30.00’s

  17. Dekropttiv

How will these players know what te top 30 times are? It sucks cause they will never know what the top time to beat is. They just have to send in what they think the fastest time is.

Anyway, good luck o th people trying.
