New GT Sport Scapes Images Emerge Online

19fc06e

Although noise has gone relatively quiet on the official news front for GT Sport, new images of GT Sport’s Scapes mode have appeared thanks to WordPress blog ‘Clix GT’ (discovered on our forums by Farushi).

The images themselves show off some new locations and include a nice variety of vehicles. While they appear to have been captured off-screen, the quality is still intact for the most part. The shot at the top of this article is especially impressive, as we get to see 16 cars all in the same shot. Being able to put a large amount of cars in the same photo will open up new and unique photo opportunities not possible in previous photo-mode iterations.

Not the best way to park a car…

Locations on-show range from the USA to Japan, with other locales in between. Car choices seem to have been carefully chosen to not reveal anything new and stick to what we’ve seen in previous images and video. The full selection of photos are below – some may be familiar already, if you’ve been keeping up with news on Scapes – so here’s hoping some direct capture versions of these images emerge in the future.

Happy to see PD went nuts in the graphics department. Photo mode will be great in this game for sure! Still, I don’t believe I’ll be picking this one up, I’m still doubting the sounds, AI, and gameplay will be to my liking anymore.

As Lee says, Photomode is a very popular feature. This is pretty significant news to some, so don’t be so snarky.

Polyphony Digital: the kings of “Let’s just add this feature nobody asked for and that doesn’t add any tangible gameplay value instead of focusing on things that our competition is able to do and that fans have been asking from us for decades”.

Scapes is truly an impressive feat for the gaming industry. This is a first and has never been seen before. Almost like magic!

@another yes I know; the question here is if PD still knows what it means, give a look at other games from the genre.

I would just like to know: if they’re going to have 1000 photo mode locations, why not make that 1000 tracks? Looking at some of those pictures above, some of them look like they are on race tracks that could just be used for… RACING!

This game seems to be more focused on the fact that you can take pictures than actually getting behind the (virtual) wheel and drive (virtually)!

Because they are literally 1000 2D photographs, they’re not photo locations like the last two games.

Some of these are breathtaking, but it seems to only work well on a flat surface. The ‘ring picture with the Renault and the Peugeot (0097) does not work so well because of the curb

Neither, bullshots, not necessary fake but enhanced beyond anything you will ever see in the game. PD always does this.

    2. TeamCZRRacing

PD aren’t the only ones who do this, Mick. T10 does, SMS, Evo… in fact, most racing game devs do.

    3. Samus

Every game developer uses bullshots but I think this is the first time they’ve used real world photographs as part of them. Whilst there is nothing technically wrong with it since it is a genuine feature in the game it is going to be misleading and confusing to many. Just look at some of the comments here.

Whilst there is nothing wrong with using these photos to promote the game they need to make sure it’s a balance with some 100% game bullshots.

The Orange McLaren scape is in Cambridge, UK, on Trinity Lane. The detail is great compared to the real thing right down to the “to the river” chalk writing.
