The 2019 F1 Esports New Balance Pro Series finals took place in London earlier in the week. After a pretty tight battle, Italy’s David Tonizza took the title driving for the debutant Ferrari team.
If you were watching and fancy trying your luck for 2020, you’re almost too late. The 2020 Challenger series to determine who’ll end up in the Pro Draft for next year’s racing is nearly at its own conclusion too. However there’s one more spot available, and it’s safe to say it’s not what anybody was expecting.
While most of the players at the Draft will have honed their skills racing against one another at live events, one lucky winner will be able to snare a spot at the Pro Draft through the F1 Mobile Game.
Although there’s not a huge amount of information to go on right now, what we do know is that the top player in a dedicated GP Event in the game will get a ticket to compete in the 2020 Pro Draft. The event will arrive with Update 9, and remain open until 23.59 UTC on December 26 — so you may have an excuse to duck out early from Christmas dinner. Codemasters hasn’t yet published a date for Update 9, however it’s likely to be next week.
Of course, once qualified, the F1 Mobile Game champion will still need to race-off against a pack of the most accomplished F1 2019 players at the Draft event, who will have qualified through competitive live events. The ten F1 esports teams will then pick at least one driver each from the Draft, and the night’s racing action is a chance to showcase your talents.
