Dallara is one of the most synonymous names in motorsport. The company has built chassis structures for Formula 1, Le Mans Prototypes and Indycar. Now the Italian brand is building its own road car for the first time.
Aptly called the Stradale, the new Dallara road car has been designed with the goal of rediscovering driving pleasure on the road and track.
With a focus on light weight, the Stradale uses a carbon fiber tub with aluminum subframes on the front and rear. Extensive use of carbon and other composite materials for the bodywork means the Stradale weighs in at just 1885lb.
The base variant of the Stradale does not include a roof, windscreen or even doors. Buyers can specify a windscreen as a €16,600 option. Options of a targa roof frame (€7,700) and LMP-style doors (€7,300) transform the Stradale from speedster to coupe.
For buyers wanting to take their Stradale to the track, they can specify a fixed rear wing and adjustable suspension. A six-speed manual gearbox comes as standard, with an optional paddle-shift sequential.
Power for the Stradale comes from a 2.3-liter Ford Ecoboost engine. Thanks to new components and recalibrated electronics, the Stradale makes a claimed 400hp and 369lbft of torque. The Stradale will hit 62mph from standstill in 3.3 seconds, before hitting 174mph flat out.
Extensive wind tunnel development allows the Stradale to produce over 1800lb of downforce in its most track-focused configuration.
The Stradale will be an expensive choice in the street-legal track car market however, as prices start from €155,000 before local taxes. Tick all the options, and the price rises to close to €200,000.
Potential buyers will need to act fast, as Dallara only plans to make 600 units over the next five years. It will be exciting to see the new Dallara challenging the best track cars available when it hits the road later this year.
