The top 32 drivers from Spain met last weekend in Barcelona for their regional GT Academy 2012 finals.
Both Kazunori Yamauchi and Lucas Ordonez were on hand for the event. Lucas himself acted as the competition judge, selecting the top 16 players who would advance to the second day of competition. After various head-to-head GT5 races, only 12 competitors remained for the final stage, which included various psychological tests, physical fitness challenges, and real-world driving stints in a Nissan 370Z.
Jesús Sicilia, Daniel Herrera, and Luis Muñoz eventually came out on top, and will be the three drivers representing Spain at the European GT Academy 2012 Finals at Silverstone in August. Congratulations, guys!
Although specific challenges presented at regional finals typically differ, all finalists from around the world would be wise to prepare for similar physical and real-world driving tests, which you can see in the video from Barcelona above from AlfaBetaJuega.
As always, our GT Academy 2012 forums offer a meeting place (and online GT5 practice lobbies!) for everyone remaining in the competition.
The U.S. GT Academy 2012 National Finals will be held next weekend in San Diego, CA, followed shortly thereafter by the U.K. National Finals at Silverstone. Stay tuned for complete coverage of both, right here on GTPlanet.

First of all, congratulations to all the finalists and especially to the 3 winners of the Spanish Final.
Although I’m quite surprised, since I didn’t see Ramon (eclipsi_RC; 2nd overall and 1st in Spanish region) on the pictures.
What happened?
Congrats to the top three winners in Spain!!! Great job. :)
is there a list of the winners of all regions??
with their PSN
Good report as always. Looks like they had a great time. I wish I was there.
Keep it up!
I finished 45 in the US. Too sad. I didn’t get to do any laps the last 2 days because my grandparents visited and watched fox news all day. The tv in my room broke earlier in the year.
I’m really upset, but maybe next year. I hate college and want to quit.
Good luck guys!
There’s a incorrection in the news, the Portuguese drivers did’t partecipate in the spanish final, this year they have one just for them, it will be next day 13 and 14 at the Autodromo do Estoril, former F1 race track.
Thanks. In the future, please use the link above the comment form to report corrections so I can take care of them quickly.
There’s another track I’d be cool with, Estoril! If they tried to add the track when they have events at them we would be set, and even if they only do half the tracks!
Hey, maybe PD adds Silverstone to the game to celebrate the big shebang in August? I would love a nice Silverstone DLC, bunch of lay outs, price it a $5 like Motegi, sweet setup.
In fact, if they did that for GT Academy it would validate spreading the cars out, making an event of it. If they don’t do anything else for it then it’s just annoying again.
Oh yeah, and there are 5 different road racing layouts at Silverstone. $5 Silverstone DLC!
english translation & subtitles would be appreciated!
+1
Oh man.. I’m getting nervous now!
Amazing. Congratulations. I need to figured out how to beat the times or change my G27 for the Driving Force GT or Thrustmaster T500RS because i don´t think that the drivers are making its job at all. I am way better in rFactor than in GT5 because of the wheel response or because i am even more used to it.
I am not sure but i did a few laps (no more than 12) and i ended #356. Tried with the phantom of the first guy and was impossible to catch even trying so damn hard and following the same exact line of the guy. Always between 3 to 4 seconds behind him. In some parts his car just accelerate better than mine like a fu**** rocket. Don´t know why.
They are good but it has to be something more. (yeah more practice of course but when you “reach” your limit or the limit of the car or it seems like that…it has to be something more)
Checked again between 1.5 to 3 seconds.
Some people will work at it for weeks, finding every single optimal brake point, shift point, how much too brake, even when to check your time. You have to think like a driver, not like a gamer. You also need those epic gaming circles they have in the above pics…
There is no something more.
Something more? Aliens.
gamerdog6482…agreed. ;) hahaha
I am the something more. If you knew me you would be first. That’s why I was banned from GTA. It wasn’t fair.
If I knew you I’d be first…. how about I buy you a beverage ;)
Too late. Maybe next GTA?
