UK GT Academy 2012 Wildcard Event, This Weekend at Cholmondeley Pageant of Power

In the European rounds of GT Academy last year, Sony hosted several “wildcard events”. These live competitions were hosted at various locations around Europe, and offered players a direct ticket to the final Boot Camp at Silverstone.

Although they have not been widely promoted and rarely announced, more wildcard events are being held for this year’s competition. The only one which GTPlanet is officially aware of takes place this weekend at the “Pageant of Power”, held at the Cholmondeley Castle in central England.

The only information currently known about the wildcard competition itself can be found on PistonHeads.com’s article on the Pageant of Power:

Visitors will also get the chance to take part in a Nissan/PS3 GT Academy ‘Wild Card’ event – many PlayStations, big screens, race seats and force-feedback steering wheels open to the public, and one winner per day will be put forward for the UK national final of GT Academy. The UK winner from 2011, Jann Mardenborough, now races in the Blancpain Endurance Series and will be at the Pageant throughout the weekend.

Unfortunately, no further details are currently available; if you have more specific information about the Cholmondeley event or any other wildcard events taking place in Europe, please leave a note in the comments below or send me an email.

mmm…that Bentley is so hot, love it in the game. Tragedy its standard…. Always wanted to see it in person. Too bad I’m 3,500+ miles away.

if an event featured new content it would be accessible only to participants of that event? pretty unfair if you ask me.

I know this is unrelated bu why has the gran turismo north america site been down for most of the day?

I’ve been wondering the same thing; it’s likely maintenance; though I don’t know what for. There’s several spelling mistakes in the “GT Academy” section, but that doesn’t seem like a reason to bring the site down for maintenance…

Only because Audi let them, since they’re all under the same Volkswagen group. There was no Audi factory team that year and Bentley got assistance from Joest, who were basically the works Audi team. So in short, they didn’t really ‘beat’ the Audi’s, they were the Audi’s.

SiimonK Audi Team were racing that year with 3 cars and Bentley had 2 cars so whilst technically they are the same company Bentley beat Audi team on their second attempt

There was no factory Audi team in 2003, only privateers. As I said, Joest were working with Bentley that year and the car also had an Audi engine.
