So I have a theory that Nick Heidfeld and Felipe Massa will be at BMW, while Jenson Button will be at Williams. Should we add those do the list?

I think you can almost bet 100% that Nick will be driving a Beemer next season. Massa....I don't know. He doesn't seem like Beemer material to me but I fully expect him in a 3rd car for either BMW or back at Ferrari (4th car, or even 5th car?)...maybe even Red Bull, since they will be the Ferrari B-Team next year, test driver of course.

Jenson...ugggh. It all hangs on Jenson, sadly. If he doesn't move to Williams, after the stink he made last season, then the shred of respect I still have for JB will be fully gone. I mean he kinda made his bed last season saying he wanted to be a Williams man, he kinda needs to sleep in it now. I think it also depends on what Williams does for an engine. I dont see JB moving if they go with Honda power and personally I feel a Williams/Cosworth pairing is more likely. Think about it. Cosworth looses Red Bull next year and want a decent team to showcase their engine. Williams if very "British", part of their troubles with BMW has been the British/German working differences, so what better than a British chassis with a British engine with two British drivers (Yes I know Webber is from AU, but close enough..haha. Still a subject of the Queen.).

Oh and JB going to Ferrari...hahahaha. Let us just say a snowman has a better chance in hell than JB does going to Ferrari.

So JB moving to Williams. That opens a seat at BAR. For all the steam that these Rubens leaving Ferrair next season stories have right now I don't see it happening next season, though I think it would be GREAT for BAR and Rubens to get out from under Schumi. Look what leaving McLaren did for DC!!!! Still I don't see it happeing next season but if Rubens goes anywhere it will be BAR due to Gil de Ferren (sp?).

Ralf Schumacher. My gut says he will be a BMW driver before it is all over, maybe not next season but the season after.

Fisi....I don't see ole' Flavio keeping him. If he makes it into next season I don't see him staying unless he starts producing results. Who goes there? A Alonso/Kovalainen pairing will scare alot of people, especially after Kovalainen gets some F1 seat time. If Renault win the Constructor's this season then Fisi is out and Kovalainen is in. If Rubens doesn't move to BAR then Fisi is the next logical choice, though I doubt it highly. Again Fisi is too old for anyone to build a team around him and he is too hot and cold, worst than DC or Ralf...

Red Bull. DC signed up for next season and I see Liuzzi getting the 2nd seat with Klein or Massa (see above) as the 3rd driver. Liuzzi is more in the Red Bull image, he is Italian, and for a lack of a better reason has a buzz about him AND is linked with Ferrari often.

Midland...who really cares but I doubt either current driver will be there next year. Neither have a future in F1. The Indian guy is WAY too old for any team to give him a second look (even if he was impressive driving, which is isn't) and Monterio is nothing special.

McLaren...Kimi and JPM....no doubt. I can't see why anyone would like JPM to BMW, I can't remember him ever saying anything nice about BMW nor BMW about him. He is in a good place at McLaren. he needs some luck but Ron won't let him go. Of former BMW/Williams drivers Ralf is the golden child of BMW, not JPM. No way would Massa end up ar McLaren...Wurz would get the seat before Massa....

Minardi...most likely Albers will be back and the 2nd seat...no clue....maybe Kovalainen or maybe Scott Speed??? Give either of those guys some race time for the future.

So the only guys I see 100% staing put are MS, Kimi, JPM, Webber, DC, Alonso, Albers, Sato (if he does get a race seat next year) and Trulli (though I still can see him back at Renault....)

Bye-Bye JV, don't let the door hit you on the way out of F1 ok....see ya!!!!!

I actually wouldn't be too suprised if Midland hire JV because of his 'experience' ... not that it would do them any good mind you, but I still see it as a possibility.

As for Jenson moving to Williams, I think Williams have him under contract and it might be pretty hard for Jenson to get out of it, mind you I've read that it is quite possible that the contract has a clause saying that Jenson can get out of it if Williams change engine supplier, and like you kensei, I think a Williams-Cosworth pairing is quite logical and quite probable.

I also don't see Button moving to Ferrari nor Rubens moving to BAR, I think Rubens will probably ride out his career playing 2nd fiddle to Michael Schumacher.

Frank Williams said he will not keep Heidfeld even if Heidfeld gets the title. This was even before he knew BMW is going to have a team of their own. I think Button will drive for Williams and Heidfeld for BMW. English team + English driver and German team + German driver.

I'm not so sure about all the other driver line-ups. but I heard there is a good chance to get Scott Speed as the 2nd driver in Red Bull Racing. they are really interested in getting an American into F1. once he adjusts to the F1 car, hopefully he will start kicking butt.

the 1st reply was written just after getting up. what i meant was he has been impressive, thats why i think hell end up with a 3rd seat.

and whats his contract situation with redbull for that matter?

A friend said yesterday, that he read that Ferrari had offered JB £20m to drive for them next year.

I read this too, but I doubt it will come to anything.

Isn't random speculation fun? :D

Why would Ferrari want Jenson? Let's see he has never won. He has a few podium finishes while driving a car what was the class of the field (admit it, at the beginning of last seaosn the BAR was the class of the field due to all the other teams not being able to figure their cars out). However even with a car that was the class of the field Jenson STILL couldn't win. It isn't like JB is a bad driver, he isn't but he is nowhere near Alonso or Kimi...or JPM or Trulli or Schumi or even Rubens. He is a decent mid pack driver that on the lucky day can podium. Not really Ferrari material.

If Ferrari are going to thrown £20m Kimi or Alonso would be at the top of the list.

JB just isn't worth £20m...sorry guys.

True, but £200m wouldn't shift Kimi or Alonso from where they are now, let alone £20m.

Who is the best driver unsure of what team he will be racing for next season?

Ferrari:
Of course they will keep their current line up, its won them numerous championships.

BAR:
This is a toughy all becasue of Button, If williams get a proper engine, he will move, if they get honda, he will prob just stay put since BAR have a better aero package, 2nd driver would most prob be Sato since Honda would want a Japanese in their leading team.
Replacements: Anthony Davidson (He is their test driver after all), Massa (perhaps), Wurz (consistant)

Renault:
Alonso will stay for sure, they have given him his best season by far and he loves the team, as for the 2nd drive its a toughy again because Fisi has really underachieved this season and i dont see flavio holdin on to him (remember trulli last yr??).
Replacements: Davidson (did beat shumy last yr in practice), de la rosa (done well this yr in McLaren), Trulli (outsider but possible)

Williams:
Webber will stay because he has no where else to go quite simply even if they do burn his arse. I see hiedfeld moving to BMW (german to a german team) so williams will want to bring someone in that his fairly young and bring them up as william's brain child.
Replacements: Davidson (offered a test for the seat last yr), Wurz (wasnt he in the test for the seat aswell?) massa (young, not scared of a battle, remenisence of senna)

McLaren:
I dont see this line up changing at all, raikkonen wouldnt leave for any money at all since he knows he has the best car right now and JPM has now finally got working with the car and i see bright times ahead... I could see however Hakkinen coming back as their test driver... he wants to come back into F1 dont he??

BMW:
They will most deffinatly go for Heidfelt, he is on top of his game and a german driver with a german manufacturer is what they are looking for. Second driver is alot more of a mystery.
Replacements:Ralf (but he has been so inconsistant this year), then again Massa has pulled in some impressive drives for Sauber this year (monoco was great till he was put out by JV) or possibly even Liuzzi (although red bull will not exactley be happy to get rid of him)

Red Bull:
DC has signed on for another year wich is great news for the team, second driver is a close thought contest.
Replacements: Klien, Liuzzi or Scott Speed (was offered to drive the red bull for testing in Canada and USA)

Toyota:
They will want to keep hold of Trulli who has been putting in great single lap qualifying sessions, i believe they could work on his race pace alot next year aswell. For the second drive it should be Ralf... just but there could be a sniff of a chance for Davidson if BAR wont have him.

Midland:
Their 2 current drivers, Karthikayan and Montero i do not see driving for them next year, if they want to move on in F1 they need an experienced driver and a young driver, now their experienced driver could be a real comeback in the name of Eddie Irvine which is a real longshot but if he was intrested in buying them, maybe hes intrested in racing for them (jordan did give him his break in F1) or maybe even Mika Hakkinen (dont see tht happen although) as for their young driver theres alot of talent in GP2 and it wouldnt surprise me if they snatch someone from there.

Minardi:
Albers has done well for what he has under him and it would think the smart decition is to keep him, as for friesacher im not entirely sure..he could stay, he could go we will have to wait and see. Minardi are acustome to giving talented drivers their break in F1 (Alonso and Webber both drove for them in their first years) and maybe they would find a 19 yr old with ounces of talent and give them their break in F1.

So this leaves JV, theres the door, use it bud.

That just what i think im sure not everyone will agree but oh well :D
