Well, when Ferrari signed Rubens, he hadn't won a race either. Same could be said of Eddie Irvine. We all know what happened to Eddie Irvine...
What did happen to Eddie Irvine? I can't clearly remember. I know that he did an amazing job during the 1999 season when Schumacher went out on his injury. Didn't he come like 2 points behind Hakkinen or something. I thought he was impressive that season. Then after that, in 2000 I think they replaced him with Rubens. No offence meant to Barrichello, he's an excellent driver worthy of Ferrari, but what was wrong with Eddie Irvine? He was awesome.. 💡

Hakkionen is too unfit for F1 now, thats what I heard. I wish he would come back to F1, he was always my favorite driver.
Yeah, he's prolly unfit. He's my favorite driver ever as well, it's too bad that things didn't go his way in 2000, he lost only to like 2-3 points to Schumacher (I don't like Schumi), and then in 2001 he pretty much lost it unfortunately. :guilty:

Mika Hakkinen is having too much fun in the DTM, racing for Mercedes. (he said it himself in an interview after a race).
I can imagine, I've watched a couple DTM races with Alesi, Hakkinen and Frentzen. I'm glad that he's still racing with Mercedes. 👍 👍

Wow. JV won his title in a Williams. Racing against MS and Hakinnen. Who was the TOP driver of Williams at the time? Some noname called Damon Hill...
Uh, Damon Hill was world champion in 1996, the previous year and lost to Schumacher by a hair in 1994 season only because MS took him out alongside himself in the last race during mid-race cause Hill was 1, read ONE point under him. And in 1995, he got 2nd place again to MS, by a bigger margin tho. No-name is kind of a strong word considering he was world champion in the previous year, almost won in 94 and came 2nd place in 95, now isn't it?

EDIT: I see you were using sarcasm to the guy who said JV won his title in a McLaren. My bad. Yes, JV for his time in '97 was extremely impressive. Racing against MS and Coulthard and Hakkinen wasn't the easiest of feats.

In other news, what about Pedro de la Rosa and Alexander Wurz, both test drivers for McLaren? They both seem to be very impressive and able to drive well. On that topic, how about Anthony Davidson. When will teams take the opportunity to take on one of these drivers that seem to be just aching to drive on a good F1 car.

OT: I still don't understand why Williams dropped Damon Hill in '97. He won the title beating everyone in '96. Why did he go to Arrows in '97. It never made any sense to me. :dunce:

Eddie went to Jaguar for 200 till 2003 and then 'retired', Hakkinen i think could still be a test driver at an F1 team.., Schumacher has a tendancey for trying to take title challengers out, yes the current test drivers in all the top teams are worthy of drives, i dont see them gettin any though, and i think hill had a bust up with frank so frank goes, 'theres the door, use it' on hill's a**

He asked for a payrise when he won the world championship, Frank then proceeded to kick Hill out.

I think that's happenned with most if not all drivers who have won a world championship with Williams.

On German TV they said Barricello is going to drive for BAR next season. He signed a contract for two years. Felipe Massa gets the second Ferrari.

He was payed by Jag Rac to be the number 1 driver, didn't live up to his pay packet. 18 pts in 3 years, 1 podium. He's the reason why Jaguar were going in the crapper, because they were wasing their money on a second rate driver, and the eventual reason they were sold off.

Yeah that was in the british newspapers aswell.... not entirely sure if its true...

Good move on Ruben's account though if it is true, i think it will do him some good to get out of MS's shadow.

So now that's confirmed, the list looks alot different now. I'm also pretty certain Jenson will end up at Williams next year.

Blake

Somehow I doubt he'll be kept at Renault, I dunno where he'll go though.

Does anyone thing Kovalainen (sp?) has a serious chance at jumping straight into a Renault seat next year?

Which is such a shame, hes getting the hang of the BAR again now and he wants to stay there too, he wont do well next season i dont think... he will be too unhappy

I think if BMW are smart they would take Ruben Barchellio as he is a good driver , and would help alto in developing

He will rather go to BAR because of Gil De Ferran

Just heard that BAR have allowed Anthony Davidson to go talk to other teams at long last, so what are the teams he could join..

BMW?
Midland?
Renault? (Somehow i dont think so but still)
BAR? (Replace Sato if Button goes)
Minardi? (not after the experience he had in '03 surely)

Choices galore....

from those its either BAR or BMW , and if BAR he could go that means that they may not that attached to him , and as he is a good test driver he'll help BMW devolpe the car but as a race driver of course.

I don't think Davidson will have a race drive, I think he's in that test driving cycle that many drivers just can't get out of because they don't have enough race experience.

Blake

It's confirmed, according to F1Racing.net, Rubens Barrichello is, not suprisingly, headed to BAR next year. So that's another piece of the puzzle revealed.

Your thoughts?

Blake

I think its a good move, finally we will see the true potential of Ruben, whilst in the shadow of MS he was underatted and his talent was not used to the full extent.

Now at BAR i think we will see a different Barrichello, one that will attack much much more, good move for himself AND the fans in my view

this means that Button is definitely going to Williams?

I still think that BMW are going to drop JV unless he can actually develop a good car with them

Button is going to Williams if he wants to race next season. I really don't see him getting out of that contract. I dunno what he's complaining about either, Williams could be a half competetive outfit next year.

I mean the FW28 will be the first car completely designed using data from both of Williams wind tunnels, and Cosworth have alot of experience with V8 engines and the seem to have a neat little package comming together for next year. Williams will probably be much more competetive than they are this season.

Hmmmm very correct, if they have a webber button line up, they are gonna be a very strond outfit...

Sato still might lose his place if he doesn't shape. So if button goes to williams Hedfield might go to BAR or BMW and davidson I think might have a good chance of having a race seat next year .

Yes, Sato is by no means guaranteed a race seat next year, but he has a fair bit of race experience and experience with the team so he is the most logical choice if he doesn't do anything else stupid.

Honda are starting to run out of patience with him though, he quite simply is not bringing enough points home in my opinion. And especially since his team mate is, its seriously not looking nice for Sato.

JV has been saying that for months ....

About Sato, I agree, he has done very poorly this year and he needs some solid results to try and keep the seat. If he does well in Suzuka he may well hold the seat.

Blake

Other than Indy that is the only track he is good at...

I like him and all but i just dont think he is ready for a front end operating team, give him a couple of years at toyota or somin then he will be good...

I'd like to note to you that Toyota is doing much better than BAR this season. ;)
