I think this talk of Rubens leaving this year is pretty much just that .... talk. He is signed for next year and I don't think he'll leave Ferrari before his contract is over. Especially for a team like BAR.

Midland:
Their 2 current drivers, Karthikayan and Montero i do not see driving for them next year, if they want to move on in F1 they need an experienced driver and a young driver,

Remember that Karthikayan came with a lot of money and what is the one thing that a new team in F1 need?

So this leaves JV, theres the door, use it bud.

I have no idea why anybody wanted to give him another chance to race anyway. He only won his title cause he was driving a McLaren and it was pretty hard not to. Can't remember who the 2nd driver was back then, anybody?

It's funny but he is starting to improve over the last few races, but it is probably too late for him already and he'll be left out in the cold.

JV drove for Williams.

What's the deal with Button's contract? Is he going to be forced to move to Williams next year? Or is he only allowed the option of moving?

Williams has the option on Button, if Williams wish to use him they can. But I've heard rumors saying there could be a clause that would allow Button to get out of the contract if Williams change engine supplier. But I'm pretty sure Frank has control over Button in terms of next season.

Yes it is true but the russain bloke who took them over (forgot his name) is loaded so i would of thought he would just get someone for their talent, not cuz of money.

Well he is looking for a Russian and Canadian driver pairing, but that won't happen in a the near future.

Why would Ferrari want Jenson? Let's see he has never won.

Well, when Ferrari signed Rubens, he hadn't won a race either. Same could be said of Eddie Irvine. We all know what happened to Eddie Irvine...

NOOOOOOOO hes gonna make the JV mistake like sauber did this year then...

Dark times ahead for Midland

if they do get JV though then for midland thats a good purcahse with his experiance as opposed to getting a total F1 nub.

Sure would be.... if JV was the kind of driver that knew how to relate what he needed/wanted out of a car to his engineers. He's no Coulthard.

I agree, Coulthard is a much better driver in terms of sharing his experience in a constructive way, JV would just ***** and whine until the car suited him.

Eddie Irvine....(snickering and giggling)

Ferrari is a much different team now-a-days when Eddie or Rubens joined....

Hakkionen is too unfit for F1 now, thats what I heard. I wish he would come back to F1, he was always my favorite driver.

Well there might be a chance of an IRL driver from america to get a seat, Dan Wheldon has been Uber-impressive this year and so has Tony Kanaan (sp) so we could possibly see a move just like montoya's in 2001.

yes both are excellent drivers, the major difference though is that the IRL is basically an open wheel clone of nascar now. i believe they will run their first street/circuit race in something like 5 years later this year.

Well montoya made the jump to circuit racing fairly well (the car did help yes but the driver has to do somin too)

And the drivers may wanna start looking elsewhere since the future of IRL is not exactley looking the best with Toyota and Chevrolet both pulling out in the near future leaving only Honda... :ouch:

when montoya raced in the US, the IRL was still part of CART.they had a full lineup of street and circuit races, with the Indy 500 being the only oval.

Mika Hakkinen is having too much fun in the DTM, racing for Mercedes. (he said it himself in an interview after a race).

Kanaan will test a BAR later this year, however I think it is more of a 'gift' rather than a genuine opportunity. I don't think it will lead to anything.

I was sure I read that JV had a 2-year contract...I don't think BMW hates him enough to buy him off...I'm 90% sure he'll be racing BMW next year..

I have no idea why anybody wanted to give him another chance to race anyway. He only won his title cause he was driving a McLaren and it was pretty hard not to. Can't remember who the 2nd driver was back then, anybody?

Wow. JV won his title in a Williams. Racing against MS and Hakinnen. Who was the TOP driver of Williams at the time? Some noname called Damon Hill...

Yeah, JV has a 2 year contract with Sauber, but there will be no Sauber next year, so I'm not sure whether or not that means no contract.

I thought he was at Arrows in '97 driving the number 0 car....

Villeneuve will stay with Sauber in 06

Things are changing a lot with your team, what are your chances for next year, do you feel?

Well, as in I have a contract my chances are very good. Why should it change? The team was sold with all the contracts in place.

At best I can see BMW keeping JV around as a development driver. Even then they have much better people to go to for that.

I seriously doubt JV will have a race seat with BMW next season.

A Heidfield/Massa combo is much more likely I think.

Rubens Barrichello linked to BAR Honda
A two-year deal for the current Ferrari driver?

Barrichello has been linked to BAR Honda
for some time now. Will he move?
Rubens Barrichello has been tipped for a move to BAR Honda after compatriot and former World Champion Nelson Piquet claimed the Ferrari driver has already inked a deal for next season.

Barrichello is contracted to Ferrari until the end of 2006 but rumours here in the Hungaroring paddock suggest he has been granted a release from his current deal and negotiated a move to last year's championship runners-up.

A breakdown earlier this year in relations between Barrichello and team-mate Michael Schumacher, to whom he has taken second best since he joined in 2000, started rumours that the 32-year-old was seeking an exit from the team. But only two days ago Barrichello denied that he is planning a move when, asked if he would be racing for Ferrari in 2006, he said: "Yeah, I have a contract for 2006 and I have nothing else to say."

BAR are unsure of their line-up for next season having seen Williams lay claim to lead driver Jenson Button after the Honda-powered team failed to meet the performance clause required to keep him. They are hoping to retain him for next season but Williams are determined to fight for him because they claim that sponsorship contracts have been agreed based on his racing for them in 2006.

If Barrichello has agreed a move it will open the door for a driver merry-go-round with Felipe Massa, long courted by Ferrari and a former test driver for them, tipped to leave Sauber and move to the Italian team.

Takuma Sato would also be in danger of being dropped if BAR are able to retain Button and bring in Barrichello, a move which would create their desired top-level driver line-up.
