The Metal ThreadMusic

CAMAROBOY69
I have been hearing Korn-Twisted Transister on the radio lately.
Sounds a lot like Marilyn Manson. I just started hearing it the other day for the first time and I like it.
I have also been liking some of the new Disturbed songs I they play on the radio.

Uhh, unfortunately those bands are banned from discussion in this thread. Read the first post. :indiff:

NEW LIST 11/28/05
Already read the first post a long time ago. I saw Korn mentioned a couple posts back so I was replying to that post for recent music.
Now for the heavy stuff I listen to.
1. Cannibal Corpse
2. Enrapture
3. Suffocation
4. Cradle of Filth (on occasion)
5. Deicide
6. Malevolent Creation
7. Mudvayne
8. Pantera
9. Slayer
10. Hatebreed
11. Soulfly
12. Dismember
13. Rammstein
14. Slipknot
15. Dying Fetus
16. Six Feet under
17. Morbid Angel
Besides I am pretty sure somewhere in this long thread I already listed most of the heavy music I listen to. I havent bought any new music in a long time.
I WILL ADD TO THE LIST AS I THINK OF THEM

for some reason, no matter how many songs I hear, I absolutely despise Korn. EDIT - haha I see im not allowed to talk about them anyways lol

Anyways my favorite hardcore/metal band at the moment would probably be Caliban.

We always get kicks out of Pig Destroyer here at work. Apparently the lead singer worked here a few years back and went to high school with some of my co-workers.

I updated my list with some of the metal I listen to. :sly: I am sure if you look in the slayer thread you will already see me there.

Thanks for the review, Shannon. I'll definitely check it out. 👍

About Jesper, I've lost my faith in him a long time ago... 👎

Nice avatar, btw. ;)
Yeah, he hasn't really done anything exciting since Clayman. :(

Shannon do you know when the new IF album is supposed to be released?
Early '06 I believe. Rumours are February 7, which'll be awesome (being my birthday and all :P).

Wow. They pushed it back quite a bit, I remember them being progressed pretty far in the new album like 4 months ago.

I was going to post something along those lines precisely :guilty:

Lately I've been listening a lot to old Sepultura... reminiscing my younger years, he he.

But um, Jimmy just doesn't like Korn or Static X or Disturbed. It's his opinion. Doesn't automatically mean it's not metal.

I just heard... It Dies Today - Severed Ties Yield Severed Hands

It was a pretty cool song so I'll check out more of their stuff if I can find it.

Atreyu
System of a Down (old, not new)
Lamb of God
As I Lay Dying
Carcass
3 Inches of Blood
DragonForce
Slayer
Metallica
Rammstein
Nile
The Black Dahlia Murder
Slipknot
Mudvayne
Seven Dust
Bobaflex
Arch Enemy
Cannibal Corpse
Cattle Decapitation
Killswitch Engage
Mastadon

That's basically the metal I listen to. Then it broadens out to indie, punk, etc.

Yep they do have some kick ass stuff.

lol, do they actually sing that? I listened to Carcass several years ago, but Trash Metal isn't really my thing. The only Trash Metal band I like is Metallica.

Yes, they actually do... it's a cover of Keep On Rocking in the Free World... it's pretty good.

By the by, I just listended to It Dies Today, and it's pretty good, although I'd prefer less shouting. The music reminds me of Brutal Truth, anyone remember that band?

I'd like to think my tastes in death/core metal have matured over the years. I still like Death (the band), Cannibal Corpse (pre-1995), Carcass, Deicide and the like. But I've listened to many newer death/core bands and to tell you the truth, every song is like the next. So far I've listened to As I Lay Dying, Bleeding Through, Darkest Hour, It Dies Today (out of which I liked very few) and some similar bands I can't recall right now.

It seems these new band rely completely on the guttural voice and just distort the guitar and bass, with the drums playing an endless, monotonous beat. Perhaps older (early 90s) bands were like that (i.e.: Master, Brutal Truth, Nuclear Assault), but you'd think the style would've changed after a few years.

Instead, I'm siding with better-voiced bands like Crossfade, Incubus (S.C.I.E.N.C.E. album), Cold, 12 Stones, Dark New Day; which although have a softer tone, the music sounds more melodic. Am I getting older? Have my tastes matured? Ami I too old for new death metal?

Has anyone heard of Ill Nino? Great band if you havn't. 👍

I was into them for a short time... They're problem is they have the potential to be a really good solid band, but they try to be too profound without having anything really profound to say... Also, sometimes they're hard, and then sometimes they're REALLY soft... The soft bits tend to be a bit to cheesy for my taste...

Not to mention they have one of the worst band names ever...
