Welcome to Week 47 of the GT4 PhotoMode Competition

pmctheme8re.jpg

"Moon Over The Castle"
  • Take a photo of a car that is featured in the opening movie to GT4.
[*]The photo must be taken on the same track or PhotoTravel location as where it is seen in the movie.
  • The cars must be of the same colour and model as those in the intro movie (if it looks the same, it's good enough).
  • If you have several cars in the shot they should be from the same scene and on the same track.
  • You can recreate an exact scene from the movie or use the whole track/location to find a better angle, the choice is yours.
  • Sit back and watch the intro for inspiration, now let's make a movie!

Alright, allow me to make this disclaimer everyone. When I first bought this game a year ago I started to watch the intro and I was excited and the music was really cool and then... This is the part where I fell in love with the game:

Final Entry

Please view it full size and join me in falling in love with 'Moon Over Castle' one more time.

p.s. I had a few more shots which I think I got close to bang on and will post them in my gallery. Enjoy, and I look forward to everybody's pictures. Now I will go back and watch the intro again!

Wow, this theme is hard.

Well, I thought the free and free like themes are gonna loose their value if we have those very often. Besides, this is only as hard as you want it to be. There are many fairly common cars in the movie, you can take a photo of those anywhere on the track they are seen in the movie, so the only unusual restriction really is the color of a specific car.

And if there are several cars in a scene you don't need to have them all in your photo, any one of them or any combination is good. Just don't have any other cars there. But try to stay true to the style of the film.

Foamy
which opening movie PAL/NTSC

They are different? If you have acces to both, use PAL please. If you can view only NTSC please mention in your entry that this is from that version. How different are they?

I'm working on a track/car list, will post as soon as I can, but you don't need to wait for that, many of the tracks in the movie are easy to recognise.

This is just what I had in mind. 👍

The intro movies are the same, however they use different music.

Original NTSC/J & Asian Release: Masahiro Ando - Moon Over The Castle (Orchestra Version)
PAL: Kasabian - Reason Is Treason (Jack Knife Lee remix)
NTSC/US: Van Halen - Panama
Korean: Masahiro Ando - Moon Over The Castle (Orchestra Version)

Thanks ALPHA! 👍

Hmmm, so I'm going to have to turn the intro back on, then?

I have an idea, but I really don't know if it's possible to pull off in the actual game. I shall see.

The Korean version has the moon over castle track. Also, in the NTSC Asian versions the intro includes a shot of the Esso Ultraflo Supra in Hong Kong as well as Cote D'Azure. I don't know if those scenes are in the NTSC US version as the car isn't.

OK, the thing is the opeing movies in different versions are not the same. Almost, but not all the way. I found a video of the original Japanese version (or possibly Korean, it has the Moon Over The Castle BGM). The scene list below is based on that. You can use that, or a different scene from PAL version if you want to use something from that one .

Please do not combine cars from different scenes, and it would be nice if you stated in your entry which scene you are using. I was as accurate as I could, but the video was a bit low res so there are few question marks in the list. Please do not use those as wild cards to enter any car, just use the cars we are sure of (you don't need to use all the cars in a scene!). If you know the details I missed you can post it here and I add it to the list.

You don't need to recreate an image of the film, any photo using a car/track combination below will do. Just try to stay true to the spirit of the movie!

atlop you are crazy

Yes I think I am. :scared: :D That was more work than I thought it would be. :dunce:

Anyway, I better say this clearly: I'm looking for simple nice clean shots. But when the hard part of the choosing starts, somewhere around #15 and below in my experience, out of two equally nice pics I will choose the one that looks more like it could be from the movie, so that will be a secondary criteria.

This is the video I used. Don't know if it's entirely legal, so if admins want this removed just say so.

Do we absolutely have to use the same car color?

Yes, let's stick to that rule. Many of these are race cars anyway so no colors to choose there.
