1. Scaff, that's the first time I've seen you pissed. Really.

Don't worry Duck, my zen like calm has once again returned....

....along with the promised Clio V6 report, with both tarmac and gravel set-ups. I've also taken on board the fewer pictures, but bigger images idea. I think it looks great and its quicker to get the shots together, which thi stime around helped a great deal.

BTW the idea for this one came from seeing an Clio V6 rally-cross car at the Autosport International show last weekend, it was part of the live action event so no piccies of it Im afraid.

You will just have to make do with my report instead.

You can only do that if your pics are really good. Use crap pics, and you have to use thumbnails so people won't be blinded by the pic's suckyness. Fortunately for you, your pics are good. 👍

I do like this bigger and fewer pictures idea – often there’s 3 or 4 star shots and the rest aren’t that great. With this method there’s no space fillers. ’Tis good. 👍

Duċk – thanks for that, I guarantee that it will save us a lot work in the long run!

Duck has kindly brought it to my attention that as the Clio V6 is know by different model types in different markets it may not be clear which one this is, my bad. :ill:

Just to be 100% Clear its:

Renaultsport Clio V6 24v model year 2000 (I'm not sure but some versions of GT4 may have this as a 2001).

Love the Clio report Scaff. I have been considering doing a gravel set-up for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII RS. I recently played around with it and with a little more practice I should have a well rounded setting.

If not the MLE7RS then I will probably mess around with the Suzuki Alto Works Suzuki Sports Ltd. I remember that this car in GT3 would not be very receptive to the Stage 3 Turbocharger and a Racing Exhaust. I have yet to tune it in GT4 but im sure that this will be an awesome small car.

If I like it enough, I might concentrate the majority of my reports on smaller sub-2.0 liter engined cars. I don't know what it is about these cars but I absolutley LOVE driving them!

Wowwwwwwwwww Scaff. Awesome report and pics. I was bored so I tried out your settings, and they rocked !!! Awesome dude.

Excellent news, thanks for that Matt, quick question. Which did you like better the tarmac or gravel ones?

Scaff

I only did the ones for street. I'm not the biggest on rally...

No problem at all, glad you like the tarmac settings all the same, its a cracking little car and great fun to drive.

👍 for the feedback

Ok, I read the report, and it was flat-out awesome. :insert drool smilie here except the one that it looks like it's puking: 👍 There's a few spelling errors (probably due to extremely fast typing), so you may want to get a spell checker. 👍

But with the attached PDF, it has the Ginetta settings, not the Renault settings.

Opps that may be because I wrote it at about 1 in the morning after a few glasses of wine, and you are spot on, I tend to type fast to try and keep up with my brain. Must remember to spell check next time (I thought I had).

Glad you like it.

Ummm, you might want to look at pages 2 and 3 of the pdf. :sly:

nice stuff scaff, the drift pic in the dirt is the bomb dude. And very much agreed on the low end torque, dont normally get that out of small cars and low cylinder cars. Slow in, fast out is a great idea for those cars that have the torque to whip it around mid turn, but you can also treat it like a POS and handbrake into the apex. But you're much too skilled for that.lol. great work man, truly wonderful automobile, and you captured it beautifully.

Yep 3 litres in the back of a car this small do make it fun.

Much too skilled for the handbrake, LOL, dunno about that. After all it is fun to do, use the handbrake at Swiss Alps and you can get this thing 360ing no problem at all, good fun alround.

Thanks for the feedback and glad you like the pics.

Arggh – the Viper is very frustrating. It is really fast, but I haven’t been able to get it comfortable, yet. And for some reason my set up keeps getting ‘reset’… :banghead:

Well, if I were you, I'd turn up the ASM Understeer to about 3 - 6 and you'll feel like you're playing Need For Speed Underground 2 :) I bought the Viper my self and tested it out. :yuck:

1. Is the Viper the SRT-10 or the GTS?

2. Don't ever use aids, ever.

3. The Viper isn't a car that handles really well, but it pwns on the straights.

4. I'm doing the Mercedes 300SL next, too. Looking at Wikipedia, it looks like I'll be writing a whole essay on how the car was made. :scared:

  1. GTS.
  2. I don’t.
  3. It isn’t bad around the corners, but it’s either fast, and horrible to drive, or pretty bad to driver and slow…
  4. Good luck. Can’t wait to read it. 👍

BESTuners Mercedes 300SL Gullwing ‘54 Report

Driver: Duċk

Deep Forest Laptime: 1’15.992

NOTE: Review tested with S2s, laptime tested with R4s.

Exterior/History:
The Mercedes 300SL Gullwing was based on the competition-only ’52 300SL. It was unveiled at the 1954 New York Auto Show, and it was distinctively known for it’s gullwing style doors (it was also known for being the first gasoline powered car to feature direct-fuel-injection).

The gullwing doors were needed – they weren’t for looks. The 300SL was based on a tubular chassis, one that is as lightweight as possible but is still very strong. The body is all made out of steel, except for the hood, doors, and trunk, which were made out of aluminum. The 300SL could’ve been ordered with an all-aluminum body, saving 80 kg, but it’d be much more costly, so they’re a lot rarer.

This car is the historic icon of Mercedes. When you think of Mercedes, you don’t think of its SL 500, nor the SLR Mclaren. You think of this. This historic masterpiece, this huge collector’s car that can go for a lot of money at big-time auctions like Barrett-Jackson.

Mercedes gave me one of their retired show 300SL for a hefty price, and as much as I love it originally, it’ll go through the tuning factory, getting the luxury stripped out, receiving a brand new prototype suspension, DOT spec track tires, new tranny, the whole 9 yards. And now, it will become what the ancient ’52 race spec 300SL’s ever dreamed of.

The Good…:
It has not a lot of power (450 HP), but it feels like it has a lot more. I was surprised when I looked at the speedometer and saw that I was reaching only 150 MPH on average. If you covered the speedo up, and told me that I was going 30 MPH faster, I’d believe it without second thoughts. It has plenty of get-up-and-go, and it doesn’t lag behind.

With handling, it sticks to the road like glue, no, Gorilla Glue. On S2s, understeer isn’t evident. It’s on rails pretty much. Put on some R4s, and it’s heaven. No kidding. It’s stable on the bumps of Deep Forest, and it’s astronomical that it can go that fast on a circuit like that.

When testing for the laptime on Deep Forest, I originally got a 1’18 since I wanted to get a feel of the car. Next lap rewarded me with a 1’17. The lap after that chipped off another second. It’s a car that tells you, “You can go faster around that corner, dolt”. When you think you went your fastest around a track, the next lap shaves off a few more tenths. It’s a sleeper car, let’s put it at that. You look at it, then you underestimate it, after that you test it out, and you are completely bewildered since you went for one of the best joy rides in the virtual world of racing.

…And the bad:
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Try the car out if you don’t believe me.

Conclusion:
You win this in the second Mercedes manufacturer event. You get it, and it sinks back into the pages of the loads of cars you have. Dig it out, fully modify it, use my settings, and I’m very confident you’ll agree with me. And remember, for all you 3rd person racers out there, this is without a spoiler. Drive it today.

Thanks for reading, and please comment!!!

I misplaced the folder for my Amuse S2000 report, so I guess I'm not going to write it now :( No TVR for me also because it's getting me frustrated. I'm doing the '65 Shelby Mustang 👍

Damn duck, if you got any better at contrast, it'd be like KKK meets black panthers. Sweet work man, btw, i'm takin my report to school tomorrow and posting it, so even though i told you end of week, it'd still be like it if you dont read this til tomorrow.

Duck

Excellent report on the very, very sexy Gullwing, has to be one of the best looking casr ever made. You're shots also do it more that justice, great work.

Will have to give the settings a go as well, you are right I'm one ofthe ones guilty of driving it once after I won it and then leaving it in the back of the garage.

In an attempt to make up for sins like this, my next report is on a car that is forgotten by so many (and in tuning it I know why) the Land Rover Range Stormer. To say its an interesting drive at Deep Forest would be an understatement, weight transfer all over the place.

Regards

Scaff
