A serious request from me and I would REAAALLLLLLYYYYY like to see this car, Renault Clio Sport.

It's such a cool car man it's my favorite of all, I want a write up of it:dopey:

Edit: Oh man it already got viewed, damn this thread grows fast:drool:

Awesome report Scaff, very detailed, very nice. :insert applaud smilie here: 👍

The Ginetta is one of the more unique cars in GT4. If I ever flew to Europe, I'd love to take a few pics of them. They're definitely a timeless beauty.

Thanks Duck
These may save you a trip to Europe, I took them at the British GT Championship round at Castle Coombe last year, one of the support races is the AVO Ginetta Championship

If you are talking aboutthe 2.0 16V Renaultsport Clio, then I've done that one already, the V6 is still however up for grabs.

In fact, no its not, thats what I'm doing next, the Clio V6 is mine.

Awesome write up Scaff. Cool idea that you attatched that document :)

Thanks ekamtt9, glad you liked it, the attachement was to be honest just me being lazy. I always record my settingsin Excel and it just seemed easier to print it out as a .pdf and attach it. Hopefully it will make it easier for members to keep hold of the settings.

Anyone who wants a copy of the actual excel document, just PM me.

Regards

Ahh Castle Coombe, such a dangerous track but great memories. Ive seen so much expensive metal get written off there its sickening. The run off is ridiculous but it makes for fun viewing. A mate of mine span off last year at a track day and missed the tyres by inches...best to bring a little runabout to that track. :nervous:

I now would be glad to say that Duck is the new Co - Founder of BESTuners. GBoss is no longer Co - Founder because I haven't spoken or talked to him in a while on GTP or the internet. So now Duck and myself are the Co - Founder and owners, but I am not taking full responsibility for all of it. PM Duck with your reports now and not me please because I'll only post in here...Thanks Duck for taking this oppurtunity. :)

dudejo
what are the responsibilities as a member of BESTuners?
You have to regularly submit reports, and you get the privilege of using the "BESTuners" account to post reports. You have to link to BESTuners in your sig, and that way people know that you tune great, take good pics and write great reviews.

@ ekmatt - Why, thank you. :embarrassed:

Wow, I only just discovered this thread, these are some great reads, nice writing and good pictures too.

I'll definitley return, good work BESTuners!

You guys are so boring when you arent pissing each other off!
Unfortuately, we're trying to be more peaceful...

ekmatt, that's 7 times you've changed your mind! You get no Duckie points if you keep it up! j/k

But really, we're trying to do less bickering, more reports.

BESTuners
Everyone, please welcome Blake, who passed his tryout, and is now a BESTuner!

Congrats to Blake, welcome from myself to the wonderful world of BESTuners.

Now you're about to see you're personal life vanish as you think about nothing else. Did we forget to mention that before?

Regards & well done.

Honda Accord Euro R '04

Driver: ekmatt9

Deep Forest Raceway Time: 1'23. 871

The Exterior:
The exterior is okay. I like it. Gives it that Euro look  Kind of reminds me of home back in Europe too :) This is what gave the United State's TSX. So many posers are out there with TSX's trying to achieve the Euro R look. I give some props to other people, but not most :indiff: Polyphony Digital could have messed around more with this car. As there are jaggies, a lot to be exact  I was in photomode and took pictures that seemed fine to me. Then I started editing them. The car was horrible in the edited pictures. So no pics for this update :( So to make up for it. I made a video :) It'll be posted at the end of the update. I give this exterior an eight out of 10. Why eight? Because PD could have experienced some more with the details of this car.

The Pro's on the track
Some of the handing is good. The last corner before you hit the straight away on Deep Forest is good if you're going fast :P You lose your speed a little bit, but not by much. Acceleration is good, but it's shaky. Not sure why either. I know it's not because the suspension is extremely stiff. But I'm not sure. I tuned this car quickly and I was happy with the results. It's mostly for people who just drive cars. Not looking forward to racing them all the time. The over all performance with this car is an eight out of ten. I give it an eight because I had some problems with the LSD and the handling in certain spots.

The Con's on the track
The Understeer returns!! So the acceleration is shaky. I don't know what to do about it. It has a bit of understeer in different spots where ever you are. The Understeer kicks in out of no where when you're turning. I got so mad one day about it too. There's not too much trouble with this car. Just wanted to point some things out. One being good and 10 being bad, this car's troubles are probably a 3 out of 10.

Over All
It's okay. I have driven better. Over all, this car would be a 8.5 out of 10.

My Video is HERE They include the settings, a lap in Deep Forest Raceway. Outside the car, inside, the settings, and some nice music :) Please download. It's 3Mins, 42Seconds.

Enjoy Fans!

Yeah, you might have forgotten that. ;) However, I spent a good 2 hours messing with an MR2 for my first report, and I can definatly see more time being poured into it!

Thanks for the kind welcome Scaff!

BESTuners Volkswagen Karmann Ghia ‘68 Report

Driver: Duċk

Deep Forest Laptime: 1’36.010

NOTE: Review tested with S2s, laptime tested with R4s.

Karmann4.jpg

Exterior/History:
In the early 50’s, VW was well known to build cars, that were reliable and fuel efficient for the average man. Although their cars were good, people wanted a classier, more beautiful car to ride in. The higher powers of Volkswagen thought it’d be smart to build an elegant high class car, a car that would be on everyone’s “want” list.

So, Volkswagen contracted Karmann, a German coach builter. Then, Karmann asked Italian firm Ghia for a sports car design. Ghia dug up an already made, but unused one (it was originally made for Chrysler). Then they modified it so that it would fit on a slightly modified VW Beetle platform.

The VW executives were enthralled by the new concept. So, in August of 1955, they built the first Karmann Ghia. The public loved it, and so over 10,000 of them were sold the first year, wowing VW.

They loved the looks, the quality, the class in it. Yes, it isn’t a true sports car, since it used the Beetle’s 36 HP 1.5 L Flat 4, but the great looks, the “Beetle reliability”, and the handcrafted body more than made up for it.

Unfortunately, the Karmann Ghia was discontinued in 1974, because of safety regulations and it’s sluggish sales. But it has (and still is) capturing people’s hearts. An owner of one has let me test out his ’68 Karmann, for this day only. It’s one of the few extensively modded ones, and since I’m the tuner geek, it fits me well.

Thanks go to Wikipedia for the information of the history of this car.

Karmann3.jpg

The Good…:
It is very nimble, and it can never understeer. At least not with my settings. The Ghia is easy to turn, and power through without losing power, which many low HP cars can’t boast about. I can go very easily through the kink at Midfield Raceway without even slowing down. Getting it’s tail out isn’t hard, but keeping it tucked in isn’t a chore, thank God. It’s rear will slide a bit, but not much. Pretty much, it excels in it’s handling…

Karmann2.jpg

…And the bad:
…And there’s a reason for that. The Karmann Ghia only has 110 HP, and that’s with at least 90,000 Cr worth of engine upgrades put in. It has a weird powerband. It’s torque peaks out at 2000 RPM, which you’re past in the following seconds. It’s HP peaks at 5000 RPM, and the redline ends at around 7500 RPM. That means if you shift to the highest scream, you’ll be flailing around where there’s barely any power available. I have to look at the tachometer to make sure I’m getting power. And then I can’t concentrate on the road if I’m always looking for when to shift. The top speed is 104 MPH. And the Karmann hits the redline when you’re almost finished going down a straight. I could stretch the gears so it hits 115 like it could, but that means sacrificing acceleration. A lot of it. And we don’t need that.

The braking was crappy, too. Seriously. When a car is going 100 MPH, it better stop real quickly. My Corvette C1, that is 15 years older than the this.

Karmann1.jpg

Conclusion:
It’s Photomode fodder. Nothing more, nothing less. You can try to salvage it, for some good 2 player battles, but there’s better cars for the job, like a Ford Ka and the Volkswagen Lupo. But you got to admit, it looks good in Photomode. It should make for some good pictures.

Duck

Great report and excellent shots as well, it may not be quick, but it is very pretty.

Always have loved this car. 👍

Regards

Scaff

BTW - most of the brakes problems are the fault of the skinny little narrow tyres.

Nice report Duċk! You’re right, it really is a beautiful car for photomode, and, as kennythebomb said, you photographs really do it justice! 👍

I'd just like to announce. It is ekmatt9, but I got a new GTP User Name. So in my Golf video I am doing and in the report, you will see ekmatt9 as the names.
