Crazy! Even in Denver, where all-wheel drive cars are everywhere, it takes me weeks to see them.

Next time I see one, I'll take a photo and post it, just to show how common they are around here.

Great spot!! đź‘Ť đź‘Ť Stock wheels and a 57S - there are only about 100 of those in the USA right now, so savor the sighting.

That 57S was parked in at least three different spots around town, all within walking distance of each other.

Thanks for the Veyron shots and the others - dealer or not they're rare - although I noticed you skipped the yellow 550 Barchetta (448 made) for the 575 Superamerica (559 made).

I didn't even see that. :ouch: My mind registered "yellow 550 convertible" but that was it. For some reason it just didn't seem all that extraordinary; must have been the old-style wheels.

Harry, were you win Greenwich CT? Thats the only place I know of with a Veyron in the Northeastern US... Please note that I'm only saying this because of the liscense plates.

Yes, it was Greenwich, CT. Miller Motorcars has three showrooms throughout the town, and they constantly keep me distracted as I drive by. I was waiting at the Acura dealership with a friend as his RDX had the oil changed. Not having much to do on such a nice day, and being so close to Miller...well, you'd just have to wander over.

That looks to be about a '54 Ford

Thanks. When you can't tell a Cadillac from a Ford, you should probably just keep your mouth shut.... :dunce:

I saw loads of great cars today, because I went to the Gumball 3000 start event, also the day was marked off for me, with me getting some good videos, and getting Alex Roy's autograph.

I prefer seeing them moving...

(I have more, but we'll stop there)

I already did see them moving, but I recorded them moving instead. However I upload my Gumball 3000 clips up to YouTube on Tuesday or Wednesday.

But one thing if you wanted to show them better moving, you should of got a better angle, which shows more of the car at it's angle and if possible then 1/3 angle.

Dude, I was on a bridge. I'm not the BBC - I don't come with my own hoist and gantry.

Ice - No Vettes that I saw. Just the 3 Ford GTs (and a fourth in a short video clip). I thought I saw a Saleen, but reviewing the short clip it was nothing of the sort.

Yeah, I just flipped through the early videos at YouTube and saw some of what I was looking for...

- Lots of 911s
- Lots of F360 and F430s
- Two Veyrons (thus far)
- 1956 or 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air
- Ferrari 250 GT, and what appeared to be a GTO (easily the most-valuable car there)

...among other Carrera GTs, Bently Contis, Ferrari 612s, etc... What I'd like to call the 'standard fare'...

There was plenty of Ford GT's, but I did not see any Viper's or Z06's, however I post the full list of cars I saw in the next couple of days.

911s and F360s/430s made up the bulk of the traffic. Next up were Range Rovers, Maseratis, varying Lamborghinis (only 1 Diablo - the rest were Murcielagos and Gallardos) and Bentleys. I saw 2 Carrera GTs, 3 SLRs, 4 Ford GTs, the Enzo, the Veyron, an F40, the XJ220 and that CLK-DTM.

If anyone thinks they will get a Gumball 3000 experience by getting shots not from the checkpoints, finish lines or start lines, then well you will not.

But sorry that includes Famine, however I hope you will get yourself along to the Gumball 2008 start line in London.

Apparently Alex Roy hit the Chunnel first. Considering how far behind the Murcielagos he was, and the fact that he was running a Porsche 911 with audible police siren and flashing lights down a very highly patrolled motorway, that's quite surprising...

You can just make out the flashing lights at the top of this pic:

I'm a petrolhead. I like to see these things opened up (conditions permitting). I'm not so keen on a massive crowd struggling to be the first to fellate a nonentity who can spare £24,000 and a week to play around with likeminded zeroes. I've no idea who Alex Roy even is, nor why I should want his autograph. I wouldn't recognise the bloke who can't spell "Exhibit" if he stood in front of me with a sign saying "I'm Xzibit, the famous" whatever he is.

Gumball 3000 is about the people. I'm about the cars. I heard a Ferrari Enzo Ferrari nail past me 15 feet away at 80mph+ in 3rd gear today. That's what I was after.

I sooo want to do the Gumball Rally one day...

I also want to drive Pikes Peak before it's paved, but by the time I can drive itll be paved :indiff:

But if you wanted some better shots, you should have been on a helicopter. đź’ˇ

Or climbed down the bridge parapet, onto the central reservation...

I have a co-driver with which to do the 2008 Scumball Rally (sub-£1000 cars drive to the 'Ring).

Sorry, but like Famine said, some of us don't care to see crowds of folks around vehicles they usually know little about.

It's much like why I like going to dealerships. Sure, I don't see the cars open up, but it's quiet, and there's always good angles for me to get. I just don't dig shows though because of people. They're always around, and they always get in the way. The Concorso, though, is different because only petrol heads are there, and fully understand the cars and the passion of photographing them.

People at the Gumball and Auto Shows, don't.

Alex roy is not driving a 911 turbo.

His car is a M5 with graphics 'Polizei stradale' on it.

Well, im still too lazy to upload them pics now but the A1 GP car driven by jason plato was quite nice...

RLY? So whose is the Police-stickered 911 with police siren and police lights on it?

I suppose it could be the police's, though I find that unlikely...

nothing as exciting as an enzo or veyron but i caught a couple of nicer 'normal' sightings yesterday.

TVR Cerbera:

Love that colour, it sounded great too, i think this is the 5th different coloured cerbera ive seen around here. :)

Cobra replica:

Ive no doubt in my mind that this is a replica since the real ones are so rare. Does anyone know of any easier way to tell, any differences between them?

Yes, see X5's second grouping of Gumball shots, or my Avatar. I am friends with Alex on MySpace, although so too are 2994 other people...

The big thing is going to be the Shelby badges on the outside of the car (normally on the sides, just ahead of the door... Normally will say Shelby Cars USA, will probably have a 427 or 289 badge), or at least the easiest way to tell would be to look on the inside for the authentication plate, signed by Shelby himself, complete with the car's number as well.

Something similar to this:

032220071726351942.jpg

Those are both good places to start. However, those are from the current line of Mustangs, not Cobras...

In the older cars, something like this is also a good sign (from a GT350):

The genuine article probably won't be running 15" or 16" wheels with low profile tyres. Most kits/replicas go for that 427 body style with side exit exhausts, chrome overiders with grill surround, chrome flashes on the rear arches (to stop the hot exhaust burning the paint), large bonnet scoop and replica halibrands. If it looks like what you think is a generic Cobra - it's probably not a real one, not many have all those 'features'
