Homemade chocolate chip cookers, that suck!

I make great chocolate chip cookies. I only use real butter, real vanilla extract, very dark brown sugar with molasses, vanilla sugar and the best chocolate chips. I always let the dough 'rest' at least 48 hours before cooking. I know what I'm doing.

However, I used these chocolate morsels for the first time,

and they're horrible!

They have a horrible aftertaste. I know, they're bitter sweet, I've had that particular chocolate a million times before, but these are nasty! The morsels completely overpower the butter, sugars and real vanilla extract in the cookies. Why bother using the good stuff when the god-awful morsels are going to overpower their wonderful flavor? Lesson learned. Don't buy/use Ghirardelli chocolate for your cooking needs.

So, I've got three batches of chocolate chip cookies no-one in my family enjoys. So, they're being given to other family and friends as Christmas presents.

Eating: pickleloaf and cheese sandwich w/lite mayo on somekind of healthy whole grain oat bread.
Drinking: ice cold water

Christmas Dinner

Choice Grade Standing Ribeye Roast (No Prime Grade Available)

Oven Roasted Spiced Potato Wedges

Steamed Green Beens

Dinner Rolls

Wine: Smoking Loon Cabby

I dry aged the roast for 48 hours. I brought it to room temperature, like you must do with all meats before roasting, and coated it with peanut oil, salt and black pepper. Roasted it at 200 degrees until intern temp hit 118 degrees, pulled it out the oven and tented her under foil until she hit 135 degrees. Waited for her to reduce to 110 and sliced her up. Absolutely fantastic results. This is how you roast a fine piece of beef, folks. I drained the excess fat from the pan, and deglazed the fon with some of the Smoking Loon and a cup of water. Tossed in some crushed sage and made a damn fine sauce for the meat and potatoes. Nothing better than a fine piece of ribeye roast on your plate!

XMAS dinner; sandwiches, more jalapeno corn bread, pumpkin pie, and in my case more Heineken.

Gehaktballen (Dutch Meatballs)

1 lb. ground sirloin
1 egg
2 slices white bread, crusts removed
1 small white onion, minced
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon curry powder
1/2 teaspoon mace, ground
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon pepper, ground
3 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup water or beef stock

Mix beef, egg and onion in a bowl. Soak bread in milk, squeeze out the excess milk and add to bowl along with the salt and spices. Lightly mix with hand, or mix thoroughly with hand mixer until meat is a paste-like consistency. Chill for two hours. Form into 10-12 meatballs. Add butter to frying pan and cook for 12-15 minutes rotating balls occasionally. Add beef stock or water and simmer on low heat for about 20-30 minutes. Take meatballs out of pan and add one decorative toothpick to each ball. For sauce, add about two tablespoons flour to pan drippings and cook on medium-low heat for a few minutes (more for a darker sauce). Slowly add hot milk and/or half and half to pan and stir constantly until a thick sauce is present. Add salt and fresh black pepper to taste. Pour over Gehaktballen and serve!

I've had a 103F fever and haven't eaten anything in over 48 hours. I think it might be time to find something to chow. The question is what.

You need fats, salt and proteins that's easy to digest. Chicken soup.

Later tonight I'm going to enjoy some Frickin Chicken Chunks, medium, at Fricker's. Damn!

And that is precisely what I had. :)

I'm finally starting to feel a bit better.

If you can stomach it, next try peanut butter sandwich with slices of cheese with your chicken soup. Even more proteins, fats and salt for your body. Sounds gross, but it's AWESOME! It's our families cure for a severe flu or cold. Been doing it for over 20 years, and I always feel a lot better.

Oh, and what we do is cut the sandwich diagonally and dunk the sandwich wedge in the hot chicken soup to melt both the cheese and the peanut butter. Again, sounds gross, but is AWESOME! Would I, Solid Lifters the gourmet, steer you wrong?

Do any of you guys have any simple recipes for Ramen noodles? Lately, I've been adding some garlic bulion cubes in while I cook it to go along with the flavor packet (beef). I've seen cooking an egg into it to make ramen noodle egg drop soup, and I've seen mixing unflavored cooked noodles into cheese soup (which, btw, sounds delicious!). Any other suggestions?

I've done all those. I love the egg version. I add an already hard boiled egg cut in half.

I also cook the noodles and drain the water and then add a can of chili, or pork and beans. Vegetable soup is not bad, either.

Sounds good. My sister cooked up some chicken breast the other day and seasoned it with cayenne pepper. I may cook some ramen with just the garlic bulion and add the chicken. It should be pretty tasty. 👍

Another quick question about ramen...

Do you guys eat it as noodles, or as soup? Like, do you drain the water and eat just the noodles? Do you drain a little of the water? Most? None?
I like to drain most of the water off and then add the flavor packet and stir and enjoy.

Thanks for the advice, Solid, but as my stomach wasn't an issue, I just dove head first into a pizza and washed it down with Gatorade. A bit quick, I know, but so be it.

It felt damn good to get some sustenance in me.

I leave all of the water in and then drink the juice after all the noodles are gone.

The flavor packet is to season the water which seasons the noodles. I don't drink or eat it, typically. I'll take a sip, or two, but you really shouldn't eat that stuff. Way too salty for your body, I think.

I often leave seasoned water (broth) where it is, for the sake of keeping both the noodles and egg warm, if I prepare it that way.
