GT4 R3 Stock Race Car Times for Circuit de la Sarthe 1

I did many laps around the Sarthe 1 (chicanes)
I used Fully "Stock" Race Cars with R3 Tires.

Making this more interesting I have added rules
for fair competing.
This way anyone can join with the greatest ease.

sarthe1zs3.gif

Rules are:
The lap must be run in Arcade Mode > Time Trial > World Circuits > Circuit de la Sarthe I.
The Tyres must be set to Racing Mediums Front and Rear (R3's)
No driving aids allowed.(TCS,ASM)
No changing power settings.
No changing weight settings.
No changing top speed settings.
Transmission AT/MT is yours to choose.
Any Car in Arcade Mode that has Racing Tyres availeble is allowed to use.

Specified Rules:

2 wheels on (or vertically in line with) the track at all times
all the tarmac areas behind rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
no contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible

When post in this thread your new record time ,
remember to write your splits of that lap also.
(the T1 ,T2 ,T3 ,T4 ,T5 and T6)

I will keep updating this post everytime there is a new entry/new record at old entry.

only availeble in PAL version
only availeble in NTSC version
New Entry
Fastest time in the specific car
Slower than fastest of the specific car

Currently 146 times from 100 different cars are arranged by starting from the fastest time.

There are still many cars not listed here yet from JGTC and Rally Cars that
can only be won and/or bought in GT mode to unlock them in Arcade Mode.

If something wasn't clear enought, you can ask me by PM.

EDIT:The leaderboar has been extended to include all entrys from all users, no posting splits required now on.

I figured that it would be easyer for all if the my GT4 drag times would be in a single post.
And since I alredy host this thread I'm not stepping on anybody's toes.

1st, Link to GT4 1/4 mile drag race thread version 2 (current)

Also starting to put my 1000m records in this post now.

My records following the same order as in drag topic
(including some times not in the top 15' and 10's in the drag topic)

MadMax86's GT4 drag record board currently 171 personal bests (164x LV drag strip and 7x 1000m test course)

All my times that aren't proven by picture in the 1/4 mile drag racing thread v2 are marked in red
and all the times that were done with high mileage car ( because no new/10.0km special were availeble ) are underlined to point them out.

Looks fun and well organized. 👍 But since it would make a big difference in the results, I have to ask: When there are rumble strips with big strips of tarmac behind them, do we have to keep two wheels on the track or rumbles, or can we cross onto that tarmac with four wheels? Examples would be all the corners before long straights and the final chicane.

Thanks for bringing this up , all the tarmac areas behind rumble strips
are allowed to use.
Referring to Clean OLR rules.

will edit to 1st post.

Thanks! That makes lapping a lot less nerve-wracking, not having to worry about where the rumble ends. The times will sure be a lot lower now! I'll get a few cars in tonight.

I think the double post is okay in this case.

I gave a bunch of the more "unusual" cars a quick go. In all but the FGT, I just took the first clean lap, so anyone who gives a serious effort at any of these would obliterate my time.

Chaparral 2J Race Car '70 (the back end on that thing is :nervous: on Sarthe)

I've edited first post and put up your new records and new entry.

About the Chapparral 2J , I know exactly what you mean.
The back end of the car is really "snappy" under heavy braking.:scared:

Thanks! And I have some new times. With a few of the cars, it's pretty cruel not to let us turn on TCS or adjust the gearing. But that's the fun of this challenge!

I've updated 1st post.

Great times there Austin343 , keeping me busy updating the records :D

Thanks you again! How many laps did you give each of these cars to get your times? If it's only the first clean one, then that explains why I'm beating them. If these are at your limit, then I guess I've just driven Sarthe and fast race cars a lot. Anyway... that's all the Group Cs. I'll tackle the LMPs later.

Answer:
I did first a clean lap and then started to improve from that for as long
as I was able to. When I couldn't improve more I tried
a couple more laps and if didn't make difference I called it ready on that car.

I'm not that familiar with the track yet so that may explain some situations.
Thought I did some comparement between your splits and my splits and
found out , that I was leading most of the cases before T3.
At T4 you had in almost every case passed me :scared:

Shortly, I'm faster at 1st half and you're at 2nd half

It's great that you are rising the limit as we speak. 👍

Hm, I guess that if you're doing more laps, you'd get to know the first bit better (since you probably don't finish a lap if you spin into the sandtrap). So I have some more times, and a pretty low-quality video of both the Bentley run and the Viper. Maybe you can see what you're doing wrong on the second half, and you can tell me what I'm doing wrong on the first half. ;) So...

Bentley Speed 8 Race Car '03 --- 3'07.001 --- Austin343

Pescarolo Courage C60/Peugeot Race Car '03 --- 3'09.738 --- Austin343 (Couldn't it have taller gears? And it needs to be short-shifted)
Splits: 27.814 - 1'00.213 - 1'25.986 - 1'47.485 - 2'15.255 - 2'43.468

Dodge Viper GTS-R Team Oreca Race Car '00 --- 3'32.268 --- Austin343 (this was a very good run for me 👍)
Splits: 31.442 - 1'07.568 - 1'36.462 - 2'00.923 - 2'31.950 - 3'03.490

Links fixed! :dopey:
Bentley video: http://s400.photobucket.com/albums/pp82/austin6068/?action=view&current=CIMG3551.flv (Looks really sloppy now that I watch it.)
Viper video: http://s400.photobucket.com/albums/pp82/austin6068/?action=view&current=CIMG3552.flv
Unfortunately, it seems neither of these videos will actually be of much use, now that I think of it! You haven't gotten the Bentley yet, and I'm sure my T3 is faster in the Viper, since I'm six seconds ahead at the end. I suppose general tips are all we can get out of these, then.

And do tell me if I'm cutting parts of the track you didn't include in your definition of what is and what's not legal.

uhhh, your videos both point to a video of a camaro lm at infineon.

I'll try this soon, but don't expect very many record breakers from me.

What I saw from your viper video, was that you hit the sand in the very first chicane.
That's one place where you lose time easily.
I allways try to take the chicane without sand cutting.
What I can add about your viper video is that you had discovered
the right shift points very well. 👍

And you really understood the idea of using the track fully 👍

I've now finished all countries but Germany, France, and Japan.

The most of all cars are Japanese , 2nd most come from germany.
It is also know fact that the HP displayed when selecting the car
(in Arcade mode) is in most of the cases different than what is
shown at "quick tune" menu.
One to point out as example: Subaru Impreza Rally Car '03 300 HP (actually 345 HP)

Yep, I think I know the ones that try to fool you. Mostly they're the Subarus in terms of the rally cars, but almost all the LMPs, etc. have an incorrect HP figure. Wonder why?

I've newer found the answer to this one, but I think it could have
something to do with the actual power that's availeble before you reach the
car's powerband.

Thought of that because in real life the engines would melt/break up
for sutch a overrevving that can be done in GT.
So, they don't actually use the powerband fully in Le Mans.
After all the idea of Le Mans is to keep the car running all the 24 hours.

I've been busy lately, but now it's the weekend and I've finished Toyota. I've also decided I'm not going to do all of the nearly identical JGTC cars, either, just all the notably different ones in each manufacturer.

I agree that these two cars have great handling, not sure if best but incredible IMO.

Only four manufacturers left now! I was surprised to discover that out of the four Subaru rally cars, only the '03 was not a 300-1230 model. I also was amazed to see how much faster the JGTC300 Celica is than the rest of those models.
