If you're going to build a round building, make it a perfect sphere. Not some demented elliptical, bordering on egg, shaped building. That "bulge" on the bottom right is incredibly annoying.
I think that is the first time I have ever seen someone mention that country. Allow for some ignorance here but is Azerbaijan developed enough to have a building like that? I guess the view in my head is the stereotypical American one where is places it like other former Soviet states as a run down, third world nation.
Sorry, but I'll believe that when I see it. I can't even imagine Dubai doing something like that, and I'm still waiting for their Underwater Hotel. Then again, sources are saying that may be done through a boat, which wouldn't really be that amazing.
I am a late bloomer to the growth of Dubai (I'm usually a late bloomer to a lot of things, really). Just hearing about how much this place has grown in over six months or so is incredibly unreal. Speaking of unreal, the Burj Dubai reminds me of something. Any of you ever played "Unreal Tournament 2004?" Remember that one Deathmatch level that was on top of a bunch of really tall skyscrapers that went well outside of the Earth's atmosphere? That's what the Burj Dubai reminds me of. The location of the super-tall skyscraper (can we even CALL it a skyscraper?) in the game was somewhere around Rio de Janerio. This super-tall structure is only one of a crazy number of things planned to make Dubai crazy futuristic. Almost like the Hong Kong of the Middle East. Just all the stuff planned and made for this place is just unreal to imagine. I'm still in shock just thinking about all that's being done to make Dubai explode into its own true metropolis.
Here is a little side note on Dubai's skyline. There is one building in Dubai's skyline that has a message saying "We've set our vision higher." You'll see it if you see the nighttime skyline if you visit this link: < http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubai > and click on the first picture. If the Burj Dubai is what their higher vision was, then mission accomplished. It's still mostly a City of the Future. Even more so than Hong Kong.
And if I'm not mistaken, I think the "We've set our vision higher" building could be the site of the 80-story-tall OLED screen being built on the side of the building.
Wow, that's a cool photo. I'll put down a dollar that the Burj becomes a pillar for some building in a post-global warming ocean-flooded Coruscant city.
Is it just me or does Dubai look almost completely uninhabited--and completely under contruction? It must be the desert ground, but to me it looks like every inch of that area in under construction. There aren't even any roads! Just the one main highway and the rest is all dirt. It's like they're building the store before it opens, but in this case the store is the entire city. If any of those buildings are finished they look completely inaccessible.
