Flight Simulators - Add your own screenshots

Noice đź‘Ť Cheers for the info on that unusual aircraft then, didn't know about it, thought it was just some mod of a normal aircraft.

As for why there's no pilot in the P-51D, I've no idea :P I just found the pic on the net. Occasionally the aircraft developers negelect to put anyone at the controls, a few that I've downloaded in the past have no pilot (such as the CriCri on the first page).

That picture seems to be (read: is... I own it too) from the original CFS and thus pretty much everything is forgiven, it wasn't too much of a technical achievement.

But about the Old Crow, yes, I've seen one myself. Not the real 44-14450 Bud Anderson flew but the one operated by the Scandinavian Historic Flight that has been painted to represent it. The sound of the Merlin is simply unbeatable.

And if we're showing off CFS3 shots, let's have one of my Old Crow (the skin made by me for the stock P-51D) on a morning flight out of Leiston, its historic base. Believe it or not but this game was made in 2001-2002... talk about being years ahead of its time!

I dare you to click it. Feel the power of Full HD. :sly:

Nice pics of FSX, but does anyone fly with IL2? I've played the game off and on since Forgotten battles up to 1946, and I have to say that the game is superb! Its a super tough online, but that's the nature of the beast. Im going to reinstall my pc over the coming weeks, and I'm planning to dust off this classic WWII fighter game!

hi guys
can anyone suggest a cheap joystick for a noob to use with flight sims (FS2004 at the moment)
using the numerical keypad is HORRIBLE
cheers

Hey guys, I own FSX but havnt played in awhile, Theres online play right? and I can put new aircraft into it right?

oh yeah, there's new unofficial addon for CFS3, called ETO (European Theatre Operation/Offensive). it's a big improvement in graphics department and effects department. I have to say that landing a Me 109 in 20mph crosswind is.. bit of brown stain moment, especially with battle damage.

these are some screens from FS2004
#1 :2 of 4 red arrows over the thames
#3 a military jet (cant remember what one) close to an airline jet
#2 a glider over london city airport at dawn

I just bought myself a rig that will handle most of what FSX can dish out so when I get all my mods etc going expect some pics :D

Nice one :D I'd forgotten about this thread actually, as I haven't played FS in a while (barely get the chance to chuck GT5P or GTA on the PS3, let alone delve into long flights on FS!). Hopefully over Christmas while I'm off work I might get more of a chance.

Ok I finally got my new PC setup most like I want it and decided to do a FSX DX10 Performance test and I snapped a few shots while I was at it

If they are too large I shrink them some more (they orignally saved as 7mb files)

Wow. What is your framerate?

FSX with high settings is a system hog so I have it set to only 25fps limit (default is 20fps) as then it puts the extra proccessing powers into loading terrain so it keeps away the blurries and popups. Sometimes the frame rate will dip below that in stormy weather around heavy populated places when at low altitude but it is still flyable and only for a short time.

I see. I have mine set to 30fps, which it can do alright with my settings (mostly maximum, my scenery draw distance is lowered and so is the autogen density as it takes a lot of processing), but it tends to get pretty rough around cities. If only the 680i could use the new quads I'd be good for quite some time I think.

but it tends to get pretty rough around cities.

Yeah, I was talking about cities and the densest airports, as I haven't done any real flying yet since I got my new PC just testing it's performance.

Which is the best combat flight sim to get?
It depends on what you want.

The most popular WWII flight sims are Combat Flight Simulator from MS and IL-2 Sturmovik from Ubisoft.

With more modern aircrafts there's Falcon 4.0 and Lock On: Modern Air Combat.

Ok. What about MS flight simulator X: acceleration? That seems to be the latest greatest according to a search on gamespot.

IL-2 is a good .. GREAT game.

By the way. I did not see single decent NEW flight combat sims on PC for 08 or upcoming 09.. what GIVES!?

It's not a "combat" sim, just a flight sim. Acceleration is an expansion of FSX, it won't run by itself.

And if you're into modding your flight sims, CFS3 is one of the very best. it has multiple mods that concentrate on different frontlines, such as european theatre, mediterranean air war, Pacific etc etc, and then there's also most of the planes available, usually recreated with photo-like accuracy.

I just purchased the PMDG Mcdonnell douglas MD-11 aircraft mod (Extremely detailed true to life as possible, manual alone has over around 2000 pages) for FSX, am currently training myself on this aircraft and will post some pics soon. I am very familiar with the Boeing 747-400 as I have logged tons of hours in the PMDG verion of that but the MD11 is a fairly different.

As Promised I will post up some pics from my latest flight, last couple weeks since I got the PMDG McDonnell Douglass MD-11 I have been training on all it's systems and procedures, plus playing around with paints for it.

I just started a world tour with it and here is my third leg, Darwin Australia (YPDN) to Jakarta (WIII) (previous flew two legs across the Australian Desert)

So you don't have to scroll too much I have posted smaller versions with larger versions linked underneath, picture quality has been reduced to get the file size to a respectable number.

Just been given permission to line up and wait from the tower on rwy 29 (Darwin) and am about to start the before takeoff checklist (looking out of the left cockpit window)

Well jumping ahead and as I was decending the clouds covered any thing interesting, I was down to just over 5000ft (from cruise of 37000ft) and I still could see the gound or runway and I was navigating purely by instrument navigation, ATC game me clearance to run the STAR and do a IAP approach on runway 25R

I anyone is wondering I was running FSX with PMDG MD-11 (the plane with my own paint), FS2crew (as my crew, first officer, flight attendants, ground crew etc), Radar Contact (air traffic control), Active Sky X (for correct realtime weather and planning), FSbuild 2 (for flight and fuel planning).

And sorry for the double post.
