Feel free to fly inverted under la Tour Eiffel! I shall match it...

Bah I can't match it! I tried but the collision detection is poor on FS9, whether I tried right-way up or inverted it just "crashed" me, even though I had loads of space. Fail.

I did try some inverted action in the Extra under the Golden Gate Bridge though...

...and some rolls just to finish

And a bit of barnstorming:

By the way, in this shot, check out the pilot, then check out the size of the chickens. Bit of genetic modification going on at that farm methinks...

indeed :D Oh yeah, SOH had a small competition about flying under Tower bridge/ tower of Paris.. Until Greycap flew a B29 inverted, with two engines and A-bomb on board underneath it.. inverted, of course :D

Nice pics :D I've not tried flying under tower bridge yet actually, maybe that's another to attempt inverted ;)

Must say I'm disappointed the dodgy collision detection won't let me fly under the Eiffel Tower.

Very nice!!!

Just downloaded the demo. I crashed at the end of the runway after landing because i couldn't find the brakes :D

 If it's one of the Microsoft flight sims it's usually defaulted to the full-stop key methinks!

@ Greycap: Showoff! :sly:

It's the demo from Flight Simulator X
I'm actually using the DS2 to control the plane.
Not ideal since it binds the throttle to the right analogue stick.
I have to find a way to bind it to buttons instead of the stick so that i can adjust it in steps.

Since this is a thread for posting screenshots, here is one:

Not bad for a laptop :)

I'm also using an analogue joypad for FS, and it's done the same thing with me, so I just use the keyboard to control the throttle. That said, the right stick is useful for bumping up the throttle for taxiing or cutting it for landing - moving it either way from any high or low extreme sets the throttle at 50%.

Nice screenshot 👍

I think the next challenge is to post the most spectacular stunts we've achieved - there are already a few decent ones above ;)

I used a DS2 at first too. I liked the throttle on the right analog, the only bad thing was you had to hold it in position all the time. Now I use a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick. Simple but nice.

It would be good if those joysticks were compatible with the ps3 also.
I hate flying with my mouse, and the force 3d pro looks tempting (if MS flight sim X has force feedback that is)

Mine is the non FF model. But FSX supports FF indeed, my friend plays it with a MS Sidewinder joystick.

I have a Satiek Cyborg 3D or something, it's quite old but it does the job. I would really like to invest in a yoke and pedals though, the only problem is that they are fairly expensive. *sigh* I guess when I have my own house and build a good flight simulator I'll get it.

 When I clicked on that I though my browser was messed up then I realised it was Dutch. But ya I'm sure I can find the same thing here in the states somewhere, and it's not that expensive. I guess I need to start looking around again and I probably should start with eBay.

I have been using a Logitech Wingman Force 3D (FF) for years now, it has the usual controls (throttle, rudder twist etc) but I am thinking about buying a flight Yoke, throttle quadrant (4 throttles) and rudder set. Wish I had money to throw at a CDU (Flight managment computer) shown below.

I guess I will just have to settle with the virtual cockpit version :(

Ideally we'd all have something like this:

...or maybe one of these...

:D

They are nice but I will settle with Virtual cockpit and Track IR for my flight displays. :)

I wouldn't mind a MCP (mode control panel, below) which aid me more as I fly mostly big tube liners

Pfft, I don't see 6 axis movement on any of those.

I can give some impressions of the said gadget right away, seeing that I own one.

Previously I had an Extreme 3D Pro which is the very same stick but with stiff springs in place of the FF system. Then my stick began to show its age (plastic moving parts aren't that durable) and I bought the Force 3D Pro. Plugged it in and expected something similar to the DFP in the quality area. Well, no. Far from it. The FF deadzone is huge, the actual forces are ridiculously weak and precision flying is extremely difficult because the stick doesn't center itself properly thanks to the deadzone. According to the reviews I've read it's not broken, it's just made like that. And the rattling of the FF system almost drove me onto the walls.

Long story short, it's now my backup stick. The main stick is a new Extreme 3D Pro, it may not have FF but it has some actual feel in it.

So, in short, I made a mistake buying this stick and should've gone with the cheaper model

In my personal opinion, yes. Then again I'm not you but the cheaper model does feel sturdier as there's something actually resisting the movement.

BATTLE TIME!

Theme: what if..

planes: you get a cookie if you recognize them. Grey, hush. Let Homeforsummer sweat a bit. :sly:

Best job in the world, USAF test pilot :sly:

Hey, Jerry is testing new planes too!

grab_004.jpg

Let's see if that big brute is as agile as this baby is!

grab_000.jpg

Not bad.. twin engine layout really helps you to pull through these manouvers.

grab_001.jpg

Ooops, wrong button. Oh well..

grab_005.jpg

Hey Jerry, flying straight is a big no-no in aerial combat!

grab_002.jpg

kekekeke ^_^ too easy.

Tell my greetings to that lunatic that runs third reich!

Not even close. Both planes were concepts that never saw action, namely XP-55 Ascender and Dornier Do-335 Pfeil. Thanks to AvHistory, these interesting machines can now go head-on on CFS3. 👍 And may I ask why there's no pilot in that P-51D? Greycap might say something about that particular plane ,it's his favourite P-51, and has seen it in person..
