Ie, the chicane! :D

The last time we were here, that was the problem area, at least for me and Appie lol.
If someone spins there, its extremely difficult to avoid them because you're entering quite fast and its a narrow area. And someone always spins there, the curbs are quite high and can easily throw the balance of the car.

1st corner isn't always so bad because its a fairly wide corner and the main straight is quite wide and downhill, so generally everyone has more space than usual and more visibility of whats ahead because of it being downhill. Its not a horrible corner for braking points either, so generally people don't seem to make a mistake often, but that by no means guarantees there will be no accidents, its just a track where T1 accidents seem to be less frequent.

haha bad race for me, Qual fifth, managed to get upto 4th by avoiding incident at turn 1, got hit off the track and into the wall by sureshot going into turn 5, thought i had pressed select for my first pitstop but apparently did not which resulted in my pit crew not being present as i slowly drove through the pits. 7th.

Disappointing result for me :(

1. Gyles
2. Shaggy
3. Kakundoo
4. LewyOs
5. King
6. Appie
7. Tom
8. Sureshot
9. Mag

Fastest Lap: Gyles

I was hoping to win at this race, until Gyles made his comeback. Then I was just hoping to finish in front of Shaggy so that I could retain my title lead, but all was not to be.
I qualified 3rd behind Gyles and Shaggy but into the first corner I was nudged out, making me go out really wide and come back on 6th. I managed to make my way back up and spent a couple of laps behind LewyOs, who didn't overtake Gyles when he had made a mistake. I got passed LewyOs with a daring but clean move at the chicane and from there tried to catch Gyles and Shaggy but they were too fast and too consistent.
Congrats on your win Fishfash!

I finished 6th Kakuundo. A medicore start as i got passed 2 cars i got rear wheeled by a BMW i guess. Had this great battle with Sureshot for like 4 laps and i got punted afterwards. After that that i only drove in no mans land and i think i ruined the race for Shaggy, sorry bro:(

Not much 2 stay about my race. Started 6th on the grid got spun on turn 1 (know ones fault). So i was last then appie and Sureshot must of had a collision on lap 3 so went past them. Tom D went in the pits early lap 4 i think so i was 5th and just drove it home from there.

Good qualy, did a 1:14.5xx but was still 3 tenths shy of Gyles' best.

Wow incredible racing! I managed to nudge past Gyles into turn 2 and stayed ahead until the final corner of lap 2 where he overtook me but I sat in his slipstream and retook him at turn 1 on lap 3. From there on in I stayed in the lead, resisting Gyles a couple of times and managed to stay a couple of seconds in front after the first pit stop, I'm assuming he either botched his or ran into traffic. Things were going sweet till my in-lap where I came across my team mate Appie who I assume didn't realise I was lapping him and made life rather difficult in trying to pass him, no hard feelings. This wouldn't matter if he had've held up Gyles in the same manner but Gyles just sailed straight on by him after Appie and I had a small colision and he was now right on my tail.

What's worse, Gyles somehow had 2 extra laps of fuel on board, despite me pitting as late as I could both times and on my outlap I ran into Sureshot who again didn't make life easy on me trying to lap him and we colided with him spinning off the track (lag bubble), I would normally have waited but since I was lapping him there was no sense in doing so as that would just have held us both up. As a result of all this Gyles emerged about 2 seconds in front of me from the pits with 3 laps to go, game over.

Still an incredible race and highly stressful! My pace was decent in relation to Gyles, managing a best of 1:14.4xx compared to his incredible 1:13.6xx. Finishing 3 seconds behind him isn't an embarrassment, infact that was probably my best race to date despite not winning it. I didn't make any serious errors, no spins or penalties. That amazed me considering how I was basically ******** my pants the whole way with Gyles in my rearview

Makes it sound more vindictive than it was, going along the straight up to the turn you were in-front of me by a good few car lengths, then you just disappeared. I felt the crash, as I went off too, though not quite as bad as you, so apologies for that, but I genuinely had no idea where you were. I even took that corner in high 5th, but we still collided.

I drove through the pits likewise, mis-heard the blokey on the radio.

Shaggy

Yes, not fussed about you not waiting for me, as you were lapping me, nor did you just drive through me. I did try to give you a wide berth into turn 2, was surprised you were that wide.

Had a great battle with Appie, we've had this before mate :) Great fun.

Where did you come off?

Yeah apologies again about that, just that's my racing line however and I was going hell for leather trying to stay infront of Gyles. I def would have waited for you though if we were racing for position :indiff:

No worries. You're racing line definitely threw me, though it's been noted, seeming you're a tad quicker than me ;)

First time in 8 races that Agurri has had both drivers racing.

It's just one of those corners where if you enter it more deeply it gives you an easier time taking the remainder of it and the following corners at full throttle. That and it also makes it the fastest way to go when you use manual gears. I think most manual users will know what I mean.

Unfortunately not had the time since I got the game to experiment with different lines. Hopefully, this race will be my last with the pad, getting used to the DFGT quite quickly.

Now that that race is over. It will be Istanbul next. Which in my experience is a tough track and very technical, I haven't raced there in a while, but I almost won my first online race there, until someone smashed me off. So I hope to try and be competitive for the next race. Although it will be VERY tough as Shaggy and Fishfash both use manual, which is quicker and from what Sureboss just said, he could be someone up front as well.

Why don't you switch? It's definitely faster, no doubt about it. Notice the way me and Gyles blitzed the rest of the field when the lights went out? That was no accident and I think Gyles must have been using the same trick as I was 💡

Yeah I will have to give it a go. It has come to the point in the championship where it has to be all or nothing. Of course I will still have to use the pad as I don't have the G25, DFGT or the DFP and don't have the money to buy any of them.
A lot of practice will need to be put in on the corners. I have tried manual before and got similar times, but I find it hard to do the corners and change gears at the same time.

Flattery will get you everywhere, just wish the opposite sex would think the same ;)

Istanbul has one very tough corner, though it's not really a corner, is it? More like several apex's in succession. I may have a couple of 12+ hour days at the start of the week, so I don't think I'll be getting much practice.:nervous:

Yes, I noticed this, why didn't he? If he had've done so I'm pretty sure I could have won that race despite the problems I ran into later on. I had the pace to keep Gyles at bay.

What a race !!! Shaggy has improved vastly since we last raced and I put my money on him for the title 👍

In qualy my first 2 laps were very slow and on my final run I was about to put in a mid 1:13, but a few meters before the start line I think somebody connected/disconnected from the lobby and I lagged. I was lucky to get the pole.

At the start I ran wide into turn 1 and Shaggy made a good move down the inside. I got the lead back on the last corner on the next lap. On the next lap going into turn 1 I was defending the line and cut the corner and got an 8 second penalty :nervous: Third place driver actually caught up with me and went through me as I was coming out of the penalty, which I thought was quite amusing.

I then started to play catch up and was lapping in the high 1:13's low 1:14's and eventually caught Shaggy. I tried to pull a move on the outside of turn 1 but got it wrong and ended up spinning. Back to catch up mode then...lol...Going into the first round of stops I ended up with another 8 second penalty.

Eventually just before the second round of pitstops I found myself right behing Shaggy, but lucky for me he went into the pits. I had an extra 2 laps worth of fuel and managed to take the lead during the pitstop. 👍

It was a very tough race for me and I was playing catch up throughout the entire race. Judging by Shaggy's pace I was probably only 0.5-0.6 seconds per lap faster.

Yeah, he's incredible. He was relentless in that race, like a bloody machine! I found consistent race pace that I didn't think I had but he still blew me away. Still, at Bahrain this season for instance he was about 2-2.5 seconds per lap faster than me and I was the second fastest driver on the track

Ah, it goes to show Shaggy, you have improved immensely in a very short space of time. It's not easy driving on the limit all the time, and especially with a wheel, it's very hard work. :)

Shaggy has improved because he is now on manual lol. If you can get that right, then it does make you about a second quicker, which was how much faster Shaggy was than me. I am definitly going to have to make the switchover to manual otherwise I might as well kiss my Championship hopes goodbye.

Yep manual is the only way to play this game. Having said that I honestly now believe the wheel is also faster than a controller. I have always said the controller is faster, but after our race at Imola this season where I used Auto gears and a wheel, I was only half a second slower.

I suppose it depends on the track, the next race at Istanbul is a wheel + manual gears track, or at least a manual gears track. :ill:

The DFP wheel will give you another half a second over the G25. :nervous:

I think we are talking about the same moment here, at turn 3?

I saw gyles was slow so took the inside, he then popped out of his penalty and zipped on past, I didn't have a chance to get past without risking my own race and also gyles by running wide through him whilst his car was flashing about to resume.

Also I'm sure a wheel is alot faster over a controller, however using auto or manual gears with a controller doesn't really give much of an advantage I don't think, certainly not a second.
It did back in F1 2005 for the ps2, that's were I learnt manual gears with the controller since there was a big difference in lap times.

The DFP wheel will give you another half a second over the G25. :nervous:

I'm thinking of picking up a second hand one for whenever F1 09 comes out. The G25 is a blast but I would I like a smaller wheel for my F1 games.

Quick question, do you bang the rev limiter a little before upshifting or not Gyles? I do and I think it gives you a couple of tenths per lap although I'm not sure.
