Dave, there are more racing series which feature tyres with partly painted sidewalls, even yellow ones.....

I'm sure there are. I was just saying what they reminded me of. When I see yellow goodyear eagle tires. I think nascar for some reason.

I wonder which car was in 1st that entire race. Because the driver/gamer in the Spec-V was really good.

ZR1? SLR McLaren? Viper ACR?

He passed the F1, and if you look a the 4s mark, the car ahead of the Lotus looks like the SLR, or SLS, or a nissan altima.

I saw the Tuned Tuscan and its tires were much thinner than NASCAR tires. Plus the wording on them was white, not yellow.

EDIT: after watching it again, they where yellow eagles, but still far to thin. They look remarkably like the ones on the Ford GT Spec III Test car from Prologue

they look yellow in the closer shots but white in some others. They might just be what you said or the eagle nascar road tires they sell at stores.

He's quick, but he's not that quick...

Don't forget the GTR does the 'Ring in 7:20 ish... that's 'kin fast!

Also, I think the problem with the runaway leader is the AI's general inability to make progress in traffic - cars ahead are slowed down by being "defensive", whilst cars behind just pussyfoot around the rear bumper of the snail in front. Anyway, the huge advantage that is an open track makes it easier to gain a lead off the start (from the front) in The Real World™, but only if your car is actually fast enough. :(

7:26ish officially...there are a few cars that have run faster official times at the 'Ring...

ZR1
Enzo
Pagani Zonda F
MC12
Viper ACR (fastest REAL production car lap) 7:22

As a NASCAR fan I know what NASCAR tires looks like. That's why I was questioning you.

The tires on the Tuscan are not even slicks, and even if they were, they doesn't necessarily need to be NASCAR tires.

More speculation from "journalists" about GT5 / 3D connection.

Here is the list of games getting 3D updates so far, according to the Qore video:

Gran Turismo 5
Killzone 2
LittleBigPlanet
WipEout Fury
Super Stardust HD
Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han

Sony said to expect to hear more announcements about other titles going 3D soon. It's worth pointing out that Gran Turismo 5 may be set for release this summer if Sony is already highlighting the game as one of its big 3D titles for when the firmware update goes live.

Sony did confirm at GDC that Gran Turismo 5 will be released this calendar year but did not specify what quarter.

We can only hope it will be released this summer, isn't the only "credible" source who mentioned it will probably/possibly be released in Q4 that Portugese whatshisname?

I see, sorries! I just saw the yellow lettering and the profile of them looked high to me as well so I assumed they were. Hey, next time explain yourself better!:)

I'm sorry too, I realised you had already been informed after I posted. :P

EDIT: BTW, look att the reflections on the screen I posted! It's like a freakin real life photo!

I'm quite surprised how decidedly uneventful and serene is this footage of the fastest production car lap around the 'ring. I almost fell asleep there. I'm guessing it's down to the car being practically a racecar with a license plate?

We're all a bit autosexual, as in automobiles, well...and, you know...ya.

You know, since prologue was missing some shift animations I always suspected that it was difficult to implement. After watching the GT-R on the Ring video I must say things are looking alright...BUT, the way his thumbs go through the steering wheel is very bad...same goes for the GT-R500 where his left hand goes through the steering wheel.

I know it is difficult to achieve what they have already achieved; I simply hope they'll be able to sort this out. I know it's superficial, but hey, I think it would add somewhat to the realism if the morphing did not happen; moreso because everything else looks so darn good.

Here's hoping PD rectify this.

Maybe the guy just isn't driving flat out, plus he has ABS and Traction control
watch this, and he's working hard, especially when he oversteers going over the curbs :)
So who has the record?

Anyway GT5's Ring looks pretty much like the one shown here. Hoping for dynamic time of day, so you can get the sun low like this

if you want to call that a "production" car...then be my guest lol

They make it and sell it to people, and they can drive it home from the factory. Gumpert drove that very car from the factory to the 'Ring, set the time and drove it back home.

Good enough?

So who has the record?

Gumpert, because mostly everyone outside of UK doesn't acknowledge Radical being a production, road legal car. I mean, look at it!;)
btw. even the "official" records are kinda unofficial, it's just a matter of image and prestige, it's not like it's institutionalized with judges and everything...:P

 holy crap.....

That tuscan really looks epic, if we can mod the cars like that I really won't know what to do first in the game when I get my hands on it.

I hope to God Gumpert is another new manufacturer we'll see some time soon. What a cool-looking car (Apollo). Fast as heck, too.

Wow, every time I dare to say that, a legion comes to me and say that the Apollo is ugly as hell. Honestly I think it looks bad-ass.

@Pat_F40 - The glass wheels you posted are road legal? I mean, can you use them on your normal road car? I used to think that a wheel has strong security tests and reliability procedures before being available to retail.

If you didn't post the picture I would never believe you. ;)
