What we did yesterday, in spite of hiccups, was far and away better than some other online experiences I've had. Everyone seemed to have the right mindset in terms of trying to work together and to work within the parameters.

A smooth online experience combined with fast clean GTPers makes great races 👍

Def post next time you all race. Provided its at night EST, I'm all over it. Just did 2 30 lappers this afrernoon and loved it. Looking forward to the Scana event tomorrow night.

I liked the pic where the safety car was on the grass. Also, shouldn't the safety car be something slower than the racecars?

Ideally it should be, but it was just a car he picked quickly so we could have a second go at getting the race under way. Our first attempt didn't really work out, so we abandoned that 3 laps in, and our original pace car/steward TommyWizard kept getting disconnected, so Evision stepped in quickly just in time for our second go. (Youll notice that he stops being the safety car about halfway through the replay, and just focuses on being the race steward. We managed to sort ourselves out for caution and restarts).

The second to last worries me!
If I needed to pit for fuel thats where I was going to remain posted till the next caution!

You should be fine if you stay on the bit of tarmac at the bottom of the shot. 👍 That caution was caused by someone being spun going across the line while three wide. Three wide online pretty much ALWAYS results in a caution :sly: When we did spin, we span pretty much everywhere possible, I got spun and carried on spinning all the way into the pits. :P

Yeah the problem is sometimes you shoot the gap and end up stuck in the gap lol. Near impossible to hold 3 wide in the turns top guy always gets pushed into the wall... When you spin I found just Slam the brakes on is best because you try to correct it and the car just spins more lol.

Also if you get spun out onto the grass next to the finish the pit menu comes up.. LOL

Having trouble making this work. Any pointers? I've gotten a WhiteSmokeWriter file and a JDMsetup file from trying to get to the video file. Both the ones I got are application files. Thanks in advance for the tips.

Edit: Got the file downloaded to my laptop. But, what to do with it now? It's a bunch of files numbered 1-71 with "Replay" as the file prefix plus a handful of other files.

Videos are coming. There will be 5 parts. Almost 1 hour long. No sound.

Here is one I thought was impressive. I was last place, and drove the front.

wow, I just bought a HD capture unit. Forget this recording thing with my Logitech HD cam. So all my races will be captured professionally from now on.

I have 6 videos waiting for YouTube to upload and process. I will post them in morning, when they are done.

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Part 5

Part 6

For the most part, I took out cautions. Saved over an hour of film that way :)

Those files are in a folder.
Locate the folder (usually above the files in the list) and just drag it to a USB drive.
It will create a PS3/SAVEDATA folder for you.
Put the USB into your PS3, locate the file in the game menu of the XMB (in game data utility (I think it's called) it looks like a picture of a film negative) and copy it.
You can then go to replay theater and view it.

I'm pretty sure anyone with an NTSC disc will not be able to view it, though, as Joe probably uses an PAL disc, we'll see.
I copied it to the PS3 but did not try to view it yet.

Thanks to Joe and Chad for the files, photos and videos. 👍

8pm start is good for me, see you there.

P.S, if I do leave early it will be due to the kids, not me quitting. I would like to race to the end.

Can we use our own cars or just the 2 in the online garage?

We ran the event on Sunday.

Also thanks to Joe and Chad for footage, good stuff. 👍

If we run this event again, can it be on a saturday instead of a sunday? I'm usually always round my grandparents' on sundays from about midday to 8:30 PM, and would therefore miss out on it. 👎

Also, the mechanical damage update will add to our experience if Fuzzy (or whoever is hosting) sets it to heavy (the highest setting):

"“Heavy” – Mechanical damage will be more severe, and can only be repaired by making a pit stop. Damaged parts will be indicated with on-screen icons."

finially here guys. fuzzy thx alot for holding this event had a blast running it. As a former orginizer of races of nascar events i know how frustrating it can be to have to deal with all the issues for these events (ex. bad internet connects new guys not knowing rules and so on.) but i still had a blast, i knew it was gonna take almost 3 hours to run the event as any datona or talladega race will be filled with cautions. I hope ya set more of these events up and PD will ad a few other nascar events like BRISTOL now there is a track that we can have some fun at. and big congrats to joe for the win

Thanks for the pointer 01(I've been spelling your name wrong lol). And, thanks for posting the vids Chad. I'll check them out tonight if I can't get the file transfer to work. My silly work network doesn't allow viewing of Youtube.

I can't wait to get this game for XMas so I can race these events with you guys.

I just wish PD wouldn't have made it so 4 Dale Jr cars are in the race....

Thanks for posting the vids I can see myself getting spun a lot. nice! 👍

Mechanical damage = 👍

Very impressive, just tested it online and my whole setup was shaking, couldnt make it back to pits.

^ Ihonestly thought you had the #20 GS special.

I retract that statement and change it to "It takes 5+ Dale Juniors to win a race" LOL

If you want exact numbers, it takes 6 Dale Juniors to win a race. :D

The #88 seemed the popular choice for us, when the race started there were 6 #88 cars, 1 #42 car, 3 #24 cars, 1 #11 car, 1 #20 GameStop car, and 1 pace car.

I've been watching the replay with the full track map displayed, and I've noticed a few times where there's been a spinner at the back of the pack and a caution wasn't called. We could do with a seperate steward and pace car so things like this don't happen, or the pace car driver having the full track map displayed.

^ That was the orignal plan that Fuzzy and I had put together. I'd be sitting watching the full map and a spin or that, throw the caution. Until my internet decided to throw the toys out of the pram!

Does anyone have any suggestions for a possible date that we could do this event again? (I can't actually do sundays, as I'm usually round my grandparents' all day and would get home too late for the start). Perhaps a saturday?
