Hey Everyone,

Currently the registration for the North American Gran Turismo Academy is open and our members are anxiously registering and practicing for this event for prizes including your chance to become a professional race car driver. Since we have had some requests regarding setting up practice times for our members on the West Coast. I thought it would be appropriate to set up a thread where we could setup times to practice, as well as answer any question and answers anyone might have. I wish the best of luck to everyone who is competing from our community. Hopefully west or east coast, someone from GTPlanet will take home the crown. 👍

Practice Session Schedule

12/09/2010 at 6:00pm - Whenever.
Track - Tsukuba / Forward / Sunny
Car - 370z Stock (Comfort Medium / Comfort Medium)

Tonight we will have 2 session's so to speak. At 6:15pm, we will have a 5 lap warm up session. Followed by a 20 lap battle, although you won't have anyone on the track when Round 1 starts. This should be good practice for those who aren't used to driving a stock Nissan 370z.

got any idea of what track or cars will be used?? im registered btw, so im down to practice, ill send u a friend invite. asap mines importknight
 
According to the GT Academy page, Nissan's will be used. So I am pretty sure the 370z and GTR will be used once again like during the European Academy. As for tracks, no one knows yet.
 
Great idea, we should take a few (new model) Nissan's around the tracks in free run online. We could mix in some races too, but free run may be enough to chat and talk racing lines, etc. I get online usually before 5pm most days 👍 Maybe we can make a standard online lobby name like W.C.G.T.A (West Coast GT Academy) that way any of us can start it if there isn't one already? Just an idea.

I will send you a invite later tonight. Although the title of the thread is west, anyone is more then welcome to join us. I think some of the west coast players are shy, or don't want to practice. Either way, doesn't matter.

Roger that. 👍 The wife is out tonight so I'll have plenty of time to race. I have a headset I'll use rather than a keyboard. Did the 1.03 update give us a password option when setting up a room? I think it would be a good idea to keep 'the non-gtp'ers' out.

That is a good question, when 1.03 I was still grinding. Although I hit 28, I am getting lazy to push for 30 haha. I will confirm this when I get off work around 6pm.

I am from the Midwest category, and would be down as well. I just got a 370z GT Academy tune. Do you all think we should post the specs if they are unposted? I guess it really isn't anything super special, nevermind. 6 speed transmission and a fixed suspension kit and sport exhaust. I am going to try and mirror the build so I don't jack the other one up by accident.

I am also open to any ideas the community might have for the next event. I am thinking maybe Saturday afternoon, or Sunday from 5:00pm to 9:00pm PST.
 
Well ill bring some chips and dip if anyone else wants to bring some drink, that would be great. Nothing with alcohol though, thank god I'm herbal, don't know how a drinker plays GT lol.
 
I'm assuming this is a car we can buy from the New Dealership lot? I don't yet have a 370z.

No big deal. Dealing with the finals/GT5 balance right now myself. It is definitely hard. Worst of all the last final is next Friday.

Sounds great, only question/concern that I have is the tires... is that what they did for the euro time trials, if so that stinks cause I suk at comfort lol...Practice should help my driving, especially if it puts me out of my comfort zone, like in disc golf lol.
 
Well from the last GT Academy event, I believe they were using N3 tires. Although the tires have changed since Prologue, I was reading a thread earlier this week. And people were talking about how close Comfort Medium Tires were to the tires used in the TT demo. We can change the tires if need be, its just data that I gathered and though would be good for our practice sessions.
