I think this kind of design, strapped to the leg, would work better as a handgun alternative. A small piece of steel or brass attached to the leg between the gun and leg would work a a guard. Weapon could have a short enough barrel to keep above the ground. Simpler mechanisms like revolvers could work like this.
I could see this sort of device being used in a western shootout, with fancy scrollwork on the brass shield and the blued, revolver-chambered weapon. Not sure how they'd draw...I guess with both hooves on the ground, pull up, and fire...
I was thinking similar, but it would work with SMGs. Also remember, given that there would be no stock, a rifle would be much shorter and therefore more compact.
Snipers and such use a shoulder mounted system with a targeter linked to the helmet.
Then I started posting pictures that only two people who visit this thread would actually get.
As in that awesomely cute image of Midnight and her incredibly confusing family?
Also I finished my fanfic! *Private cheer.* Packaged off to my pre-readers now, but I'm really scared this one'll fall flat. The other ones aren't exactly that great, and I ventured into uncharted territory with this new one.
In other news, that Friendship is Universal image makes me feel fuzzy inside.
Also what's the official moniker for Trixie/Pinkie shipping?
