Vettel Challenge

You golded all three with glitches? Was this pre or post 1.11?
I was only able to do the Suzuka one but settled for bronze on the other 2 (I problabley saved at least 5 years of my life by not going for gold). I'll have to read all the new stuff in this thread and see how to do Monza and Nurburgring. Although it might take a while to sift through all the clutter that the haters littered this thread with...

I glitched 'em on patch 1.10 and used less than 1 hour to glitch 3 accounts.

Why do it like this?
Just do it the hard way, like it is meant to be...
If everyone continues to use or search for glitches real updates will take a while.

But that's the thing. You're not cheating anyone. You can't cheat the game. It's not a person. Cheating requires a victim.

If you're not being dishonest and you're not gaining an unfair advantage, you're not cheating.

What's the advantage in that? Single player can't be cheated. Online has car restrictions.

They're called cheat codes because misnomers exist.

Some people talk as if airfoils and wings are the same thing. They aren't. Cheat codes aren't always forms of cheating. Entering a cheat code that unlocks all GT5 cars isn't cheating. A cheat code that allows you to beat the AI with a button press isn't cheating. A cheat code that allows you to beat other players with a button press is cheating.

Again, the word cheat is not being used properly.

I'm a glitcher too!! But lol you r wrong dude.
Go google the definition of cheat. Many example in the dictionaries "she cheated death in a spectacular crash" "He cheated the law by suicide" "I had to cheat in order to solve the puzzle" all not involving human victim.

Stop being so stubborn. Nothing wrong with admitting it's cheating.
Or just get that stick out of your ass.

Hey guys, I am currently stuck in the 24h Nürb & I want to glitch later the 4hr Nürb as well.

The new patch v1.11 is up now & I haven't downloaded it till now.

So my question is: have they patched the glitch?

I tried Nürb 24H. I can still get out of the track, but I got reseted back to track very quickly even before I can go under it.
Do the 4hr Nürb before you update to 1.11 :(

Again, cheating VC isn't really possible. Cheating death is an entirely different definition. In fact, it's only an expression - one that doesn't even make sense if taken literally.

Thanks, mate. :D:tup:

Now that's bad. But great for online, hehe. 4hr Nürb is done, attacking now the LagunaSeca & 2x the LaSarthe endurance races the next days. Then I am done & ready for GT5 v1.11.

Thanks to GSD for the awesome vids. :dopey:👍

ZeGermanBastorD I am starting to regret going to 1.11. Unless they let Bob run our endurance races I will never finish them. Great find on the Laguna Seca though!

Cool story...

-sigh- Another guy who fails to understand what cheating means. If you complete gold on the Vettel Challenge by exploiting a glitch and "cheating", meaning doing it other than the way the challenge was designed to be completed, (I.e driving around the track and not through it) then you are cheating.

Nope. No one's been cheated.

Gsus, you failed. Cheating & glitching are 2 different shoes. :sly:

I requote it & underline the important sentences for you (in case you are too lazy to click the links):

Cheating:

"Cheating in video games involves a video game player using non-standard methods for creating an advantage beyond normal gameplay, usually to make the game easier, or may also create unusual effects which do not necessarily make the game easier to play, such as giving characters different appearances, such as large heads. Cheats sometimes may take the form of "secrets" placed by game developers themselves.

Cheats may be activated from within the game itself (a cheat code implemented by the original game developers); or created by third-party software (a game trainer) or hardware (a cheat cartridge)."

Glitching:

"Glitching is an activity in which a person finds and exploits flaws or glitches in video games to achieve something that was not intended by the game designers. Gamers who engage in this practice are known as glitchers. Glitches can help or disable the player.

"Glitching" is also used to describe the state of a video game undergoing a glitch. The frequency in which a game undergoes glitching is often used by reviewers when examining the overall gameplay,[1] or specific game aspects such as graphics.[2] Some games such as Metroid have lower review scores today because in retrospect, the game may be very prone to glitches and be below what would be acceptable today.

Video game glitches that go to "out of bounds" areas are mostly performed by either moving through walls or corners or jumping to places in the map that don't have invisible walls. For example, in Tony Hawk's Underground 2, in the Los Angeles level there is a glitch that can allow players to leave the proper play area and enter the background.[clarification needed]

In "out of bounds" areas, many maps have hollow objects that the player can move through freely. These objects usually are in the distance and are for decoration. The floor or terrain can also be hollow. The floor can appear the same as a normal floor but moving over it will cause the player to fall as if it doesn't exist. Depending on the game, after falling a certain distance the player will freeze, die, respawn on the map again or just keep falling. A good example is in the Nintendo 64 game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time there is a section of "wall" at the entrance to the water temple that will allow players to fall through the ground. Eventually players respawn rather than the game crashing.

Many other glitches may also include background music being played at the time it was not intended to play, such as the Western Super Mario Bros. 2 (based upon the Japanese-only game Doki Doki Panic) has a major glitch where the Subspace music (the Overworld background music from original Super Mario Bros.) can be played outside of Subspace after the player becomes invincible and enters Subspace and leaves before invincibility drains away (this glitch was fixed up for Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario Advance so that Subspace music can only be played in Subspace)."

Get your facts straight. :D:tup:

Get your facts straight. :D:tup:

Try reading my previous post again and understanding it first before quoting from Wikipedia, which is not factual information, just people's opinions.

I said "exploiting" a glitch to cheat.

You can glitch and take a closer look at the scenery lol That has no effect on the time trial challenge.

A warped understanding you have I must say, as simple logic would suggest otherwise.

By your own simple logic, you're cheating yourself/have cheated yourself by not glitching for the car. Why? I approve of glitching.

You don't get a say on my preferences. The idea that people have "cheated" themselves by making the game more enjoyable really can't be defended. Simple logic says cheating one self in this context is impossible, but go ahead and explain if you're still not convinced.

"Cheating death is an entirely different definition"??? This eg came from the same definition of cheat in the dictionary dude.
What about "He cheated the law by suicide" "I had to cheat in order to solve the puzzle" and the other egs. in the dictionaries?
Wait dont answer. Go create your own dictionary.

"Cheating in video games involves a video game player using non-standard methods for creating an advantage beyond normal gameplay, usually to make the game easier"
As Caz says you are contradicting yourself. Thats exactly what glitching VC is doing. You trying to act smart but you looking stupid bro.

reminder: Im a glitcher myself!! Dont live in denial man. It is cheating.

Ever heard of a figure of speech? Plenty of people have rocked the world, but I didn't feel it shake.

"I had to cheat in order to solve the puzzle" dont seem like a figure of speech bro. but okok man FIGURATIVELY YOU CHEATED!! happy now?
wow what a pain you are. seriously bro, who put a stick in ur behind.

"I had to cheat in order to solve the puzzle"

You could only cheat the puzzle if there was a victim. If you challenged someone to solve a puzzle, you could cheat. If it was just you, you could not cheat. The VC is a single player activity, so it's not cheating, literally or figuratively.

Why don't we all agree to disagree and each to their own?

That's boring.

Now, ridestormer, I will give you that ZeGermanBastorD, who posted a definition does have one that classifies the VC as cheating, but only if you ignore the first half of the definition.

You could only cheat the puzzle if there was a victim.
Again man, which brings to my post yesterday. Dictionary dont say victim is required.
isildur is right we should disagree. but know that its not my opinion. its a fact from the dictionary, and also wikipedia as that bastord guy posted.

You never posted a definition. Z did, and the first half can't apply unless there is a victim. If you're alone, who do you have an advantage against?

Agree, disagree, whatever. It's just a forum argument. Nothing to get worked up over.

EDIT - so I decided to google "cheat definition". You didn't give one, but you did say to so this. Closest I got was

To violate rules deliberately, as in a game: was accused of cheating at cards.
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/cheat
But again, without a victim it's meaningless. Single player is defined by the rules of the one playing. You can't cheat. And notice how cheating death has a separate definition.

Ever heard of a figure of speech? Plenty of people have rocked the world, but I didn't feel it shake.

Probably due to self-absorbed ignorance would such a statement reflect.

Single player is defined by the rules of the one playing. You can't cheat.

Not true. Single player is defined by the rules of the game design. It is clearly outlined in the challenge description if you're not sure.

I don't need convincing from someone who approves glitching to cheat. The notion that I am cheating for not using a glitch and thus voiding the purpose of the Vettel Challenge is simply flawed.

Yeah, PD intended for players to go about things a certain way. It's up to the player to follow it or not.

The notion that I am cheating for not using a glitch and thus voiding the purpose of the Vettel Challenge is simply flawed.

No, you're cheating because you're not getting the car ASAP, as I would do. You disagree with me, so you're wrong.

That is flawed. And it's why I keep disagreeing with you, it's your own line of reasoning. The only justification you have for saying that glitching is wrong is because you don't do it. What PD intended is not the correct way of doing things. It's merely what they intended.

There is also no purpose to the VC, besides whatever purpose the player decides to give it, by the way. If that purpose turns out to be a means to getting the car, then that is the purpose.
