Hi,

thought I'd share my findings.

Patch 1.11 and New seasonal events were fresh with new events to race.
After completing few Nascar events I desided to try the Drift Trials and Time trials.

Rally Time Trial was different and nice change from tarmac races.
I have this Peugeot 205 ' 85 I have shared on my GTP account.
I then used it on my other account to do the drift trials rally time trial.

Then the 2nd car I have for share is Nissan PENNZOIL Nismo GT-R '99 which I again borrowed to complete the Fuju Time Trial.
After completing that I started thinking about using some other car to improve my time at Fuji.

So I returned to Seasonal Events Time Trial 17 screen with the and accidently tried to enter the Rally Time Trial with the PENNZOIL.
To my suprize the game was showing that I could not enter the Time Trial because I had too mutch power (BHP).

But the game was telling the PENNZOIL Nismo GT-R '99 would be otherwice able to enter the Rally Time Trial ???

What the.. Well why not I thought , so I went to garage tuning options screen and there was no Dirt Tyres on my car , nor could it be fitted with them.

Detuning , using power limiter I got the PENNZOIL Nismo GT-R '99 down to 294 BHP (at 50% limiter).
After this I was able to Enter the Rally Time Trial :D

My thoughts were , "please don't crash , please don't crash.."
The game didn't crash .. phewh , If I'm able to get a replay of this it's going to look awesome!

I did some laps arounf the Eiger W Trail and got the replay saved.
My time was not great , but I had the replay I needed to be able to prove this.

So , I exited the stint and went to tuning screen , The game was telling me I have Sports Medium tyres currently installed , even thought in the other menu it says I have Dirt Tyres on.

All the other tyre choises were checked off.

I did some more laps and watched the replay ,
It was saying , I was driving on Sports Medium tyres at a Rally Track.
Then I exited the time trial , saved game and went to watch the replay I had in Replay Theatre.

It was great , RWD Skyline and Dirt track , what can I say?

This is when I thought , that maybe other (normally non rallyable) cars would be able to access the Rally Time Trial.

So I searched my cars in garage for one that could not get Dirt Tyres fitted in tuning menu.
And I came across with a Ford GT '06
This would be really nice car on Rally Track , just like the Ford GT40 in GT2.
After detuning I got back to Time Trial and got in with no problems..

Then I tested if this Ford GT that was at Eiger could enter Rally events in A-spec mode.
And it could get into Dirt Rally events , but not Snow Rally events.
So , there is no indication of Dirt Tyres in tuning menu but you can enter dirt tracks.

After switching to few other cars and picking these Free , but invisible dirt tyres I went back To Ford GT '06 to test if the tyres had stayed on the car.
They had , which is nice.

Free Dirt tyres = 3,000 Cr. / set
Which Means max 6 million credit savings for full garage of cars , heh.

The requirements for free Dirf Tyres (before detuning) are : minimum of 1000kg and max 592 BHP

Using those numbers I was able to write a list of cars that are normally not able to get Dirt Tyres , but will be (Dirt) Rallyable after collecting the Dirt Tyres.

It took me roughly 3 days to complete that list , enjoy the new Dirt Racers :D

55456457.jpg

There may be few cars I mistakenly left out of this list , because not owning them or being too tired when checking the cars.

Anyone with "special" not availeble to everybody cars , feel free to post in if they are Able to enter the Rally Time Trial and get (invisible) Dirt Tyres .

Sources I used to create this list:
Mostly my own garage :sly:

GT5 Prize Car List/Unlockables by OkeyD - (for those few prize only cars)
GT5 Complete Car Database by Famine (For the 0km car specs when I didn't have at 0km , but with broken in engine)
Racing Modification/ Race Modified Cars by Panavia > joe8

Special thanks to:

nick6raphael for the Chevrolet C2 Race Car '63
w-g-e for convincing me that posting this thread is for the greater good.
Inferno251 for posting info about the Chrome Line and Stealth Model cars
Sjaak for sharing his 6 GT Academy 370Z's
grog for confirming , that engine wear down makes it possible to use certain normally too powerfull cars 👍

That's awesome. I recall GT4 had a similar glitch, but most of the time it just crashed the game rather than let you on the track.

It's not working for me :\

You need to enter the Time Trial to get the tyres for starters.

Most of the cars need to be ballasted and detuned by removing all possible power upgrades.
Plus detuned by power limiter. (easyest to just put it at 50%)

Many of the cars are 0km driven and no oil change (mainly premiums)

Some cars are very tricky/difficult to get down to low enought BHP.
(those few need to have engine that isn't alredy broken in / slightly broken in at maximum)

Car bought from OCD have their engine alredy broken in :grumpy:

Lexus IS F , when Racing Modified loses all eguipped parts , including the Dirt Tyres.
So it needs to get the tyres after Racing Modifying

EDIT:
Man, I really hope this works online.:) That would be awesome.

Yes , they work online.

This is actually a good glitch. Rallying Ferrari's will be fun. It's just a shame there is a HP and weight limit, the FGT would make an interesting rally car

Edit: I've tried the 512bb and the Alfa Touring car and noticed that neither car left a dust trail behind them during the time trial.

Would love to see some photos of that.

I've added 2 pictures in the OP.

So would an F1, or a NASCAR, or a Super GT which I drove :) the Raybrig NSX

From those the Raybrig can be used for rallying.

Oh right , I just noticed all cars that have the Dirt Tyres installed in that Rally Time Trial ,
have visul for having the tyres bought at the Tuning Shop

It also seems like that tyres eguipped (before entering rally) , N1s or R3s change the driveability of car in Dirt Rally Conditions.

Do R3s provide more grip? GT5 might translate that into slicks on dirt, and that might not work:dunce:

Thanks for the great find Madmax. I tried a few cars on the track for the past few hours with various drivetrains and unsurprisingly, 4WD cars (such as the Audi R8 and Lamborghini Gallardo) were good on the dirt roads.

And it could get into Dirt Rally events , but not Snow Rally events.

Maybe try it on the next snow event available on the seasonal time trial.

Also, you can use the following Chromeline models:

  • Shelby Cobra
  • Mercedes 300SL Coupe
  • BMW M3
  • Audi R8 (V10)
And the following Stealth models:

  • Honda NSX GT500
  • Nissan GT-R GT500
Not too sure if you can use the Edge Camaro or the Nissan GT-R GT Academy special cars (I don't have these cars as I have a PAL PS3 :grumpy:), and would like for someone to confirm this.

I bet the old video from Gamestop of the Ford GT Mclaren F1 was a accident then. This may have been there since release. Good find!
I guess we will get patch 1.13 earlier than expected now. :)

Sweet, made it work :D
My main problem was that I was confusing the time trial with the drift trial :ouch:
Anyway, thanks for the help and for the heads up on this glitch :)

I spent a good amount of time at the Toscana Drift Trial in Blitz ER34 '04 and could clearly tell the difference between N1's and R3's
R3's gave better handling - for drifting :odd:
No difference in points thought.

The cars are really running on Street/Track tyres and the dirt tyres only seem to act like an access key.

I've updated the OP with Stealth + Chrome Line info and added Fairlady Z Concept LM Race Car to the list.

MadMax

Cool find.
I hope they don't fix it, in the future why don't they let us take any car anywhere, with any tires (even if it handles like crap or the tires wear out quickly), even online. :D
