Another great looking grid.

Great timing on this photo. Pretty clear how I ended up at the rear of the field...

Event #2 / Race #1 Recap

Preamble:
The grid for Event #2 is set. The only change to the driver roster from Event #1 is @Fudman420 is out due to a schedule conflict. He was replaced by @THMP

Qualifying Table:

@Bologna_Duc took pole position with a blistering 1:51.974. Considering he came into the event with a neutral PP of 650.00 on RH tires, that's a crazy fast time. I spent some time with other drivers in practice lobbies in the weeks leading up to the event and haven't seen a 1:51 until about an hour prior to @llNovall 's lobby opening up where I believe I saw @radliffracing put one up on the board. My jaw dropped when I saw that 1:51`s were reachable.

Well done @Bologna_Duc on getting your best lap when it mattered most.

Event #2 / Race #1
And they're off!! - A great T1 by @radliffracing allows him to take the lead from @Bologna_Duc . Another great looking grid.

Lap #1:
As expected, the 1st time through the Bus-Stop was very congested. I got on my brakes a tad late, touched the wall made light contact with @Noob01_lmdead and pushed him wide. I waited briefly and we were both able to get back into it with only a few dropped spots.
View attachment 1413445

Lap #1:
@radliffracing and @Bologna_Duc running 1st and 2nd a little out of this picture. @Mac1032763 , @JDMKING13 @socalnatv , @Kgffy and @DublDee are running nose-to-tail entering Sector 3.
View attachment 1413446

Lap #4:
@Bologna_Duc has regained his lead. He's leading a still tight pack a few turns from the end of lap #4.
View attachment 1413447

Lap #5:
Some slight contact at T1 between @THMP and @Bologna_Duc caused @Bologna_Duc to go a tad wide. He'd re-enter in 5th position. @THMP is leading and there appears to be a little more space between the cars at this point. In the background, @llNovall and @Worst_Driver are engaged in a battle that lasted several laps.
View attachment 1413448

Lap #5:
@socalnatv slightly touched grass on the outside part of the track entering the last turn and caused a spin.
View attachment 1413449

Lap #9:
@THMP led the race from Lap 5 until early Lap 9. Very little daylight is visible between @Bologna_Duc and @THMP in this pic that captures the moment @Bologna_Duc recaptured his lead.
View attachment 1413450

Lap #10:
@DublDee was running in 7th when he lost control at the Bus-Stop. Replay shows that he also got T-Boned by @Worst_Driver during his spin. He'd fall to 15th before he would gather himself.
View attachment 1413451

Lap #11:
An unforced error by @llNovall as he cuts into the Bus-Stop a little too early and touches the wall. He also would lose control would drop to 14th where he'd find @DublDee .
View attachment 1413452

Lap #12:
The Bus-Stop is clearly angry today and claims another victim. This time it's @radliffracing , who is having a great race and just moved into 3rd before getting the Bus-Stop wrong. Being a true gentleman, he let all traffic go by before re-entering the track way back in 16th spot.
View attachment 1413455

Lap#13:
I was going to leave this pic on the cutting room floor but I got a laugh out of it. After their mishaps, @llNovall and @DublDee found each other at the back of the grid and seemed to have a fun couple laps together. But @DublDee came out of the last turn too hot and clipped the outside wall which sent him for a spin down the pit entry l lane. I'm guessing he was a mere couple feet from triggering the pit-entry sequence and had to get creative to maneuver his way out.
View attachment 1413457

Lap #16:
By this time, most groups were a little more dispersed. But there's still some head-to-head battles going on.
@JDMKING13 and @Kgffy are battling for 4th
@Noob01_lmdead and @CodeRedR51 are battling for 8th
And @CdnSweetTee and @llNovall are battling for 11th as shown below.

@llNovall actually passed @CdnSweetTee on the following straight but gave her the spot back before the finish line. My guess is to atone for them having a coming together in an early part of the race. It's stuff like this that I like about SNAIL.
View attachment 1413459

Lap #17:
@THMP was running in 3rd but @JDMKING13 and @Kgffy were right there to take his place if he made a slight mistake. @JDMKING13 was in 4th but @Kgffy (and his controller) put together a fantastic last sector to pass him before the finish line.
View attachment 1413460

Lap #17:
@Mac1032763 always kept himself visible to @Bologna_Duc but in the end, @Bologna_Duc was just too much and never gave up the lead he earned in Lap #9.

Event #2 / Race #1 Broadcast:

Final Thoughts:
  • I'll try to get the Race #2 recap done sometimes in the next several days. It is pretty time consuming.
  • For those that take a peek at the Race Broadcast through the link above, I'm pretty new to that, they should get better with time.
  • Looking for more racing action as we await Event #3 of this series? Look no further than Snail's Sunday Night Spec League.
  • It is best to scroll through these with a tablet or laptop.
That's how I interpreted Race #1
-Niagara

Great Job again! Love seeing these photos and vids. Just wish I had bit better showing in race 1.
Keep up the good work!

Lap #9:
@THMP led the race from Lap 5 until early Lap 9. Very little daylight is visible between @Bologna_Duc and @THMP in this pic that captures the moment @Bologna_Duc recaptured his lead.

Fantastic recap!

I think Duc's mirror even went under mine

Yep, especially if one car doesn't turn with the others.
That’s the risk….cold tires, 3 wide and nobody was willing to back out on turn 1 of lap 1 in a 17 lap race. 🤔
A driver gets caught off guard with the cold tires or brakes just a touch too late and misses his mark.
Mistakes happen at all levels, all you can really do is be super aware of your surroundings and try to predict the possible mistakes opponents could make, and hopefully avoid incidents like this.

It started with giving what I thought was plenty of room. Apparently not enough. All good.

I know how frustrating it can be, trust me!
Next round should be a lot of good racing again, and I’m guessing Laguna Seca is going to be a lot more suited to that BMW, I mean Toyota Supra lol

Post Race Report and Scoring
Event #2 at Watkins Glen International

Watkins Glen!! Some great battles on this one. The racing was close and intense. Qualifying and fast laps were very close across the field, and are only expected to get closer as each event passes. I had some amazing battles with @DublDee , @Kgffy , @Worst_Driver , and @JDMKING13 across both races. Too much to highlight, but take a look at the replays...certainly worth the watches.
Race broadcasts and race re-caps are in processing, compliments of @Buffalo_DRD , and will be available for viewing soon, but for now you can view the actual in-game replays through the search tag: snailmpc. Feel free to elaborate on any battles/exchanges you may have shared for this event.
Despite a few incidents, overall it was a great night of racing.

Minimal lag/jittering was present across the field, but was overall manageable.

Now for Scoring:
Congratulations to @Bologna_Duc on the Overall Win on the night. Great pace all around with that Corvette at Watkin Glen! Great work!!

Also, Congratulations to our Top 3 Overall:
1st: @Bologna_Duc
2nd: @THMP / Thumpleton
3rd: @JDMKING13

Awards:
@Bologna_Duc , please apply the checkered flag decal linked below in recognition of your Race 1 win, and also apply a "white" track map decal of Watkins Glen to your driver side quarter window in recognition of your overall Event #2 win.
@DublDee , please apply the checkered flag decal linked below in recognition of your Race 2 win to your driver side quarter window. >>>> Awards Link for Details and Decals

If in doubt, simply remove the numbers before the event. See the Spoiler tab below:
Driver Standings Recognition
Drivers will be encouraged, not required, to display their current driver standing going into each event after Event #1, though there will be a few rules and requirements.
Drivers who are interested in diplaying their current standing, should collect the following green digital numbers 0-9.

After scoring is finalized and Post Race report issued, drivers will be cleared to edit their driver standing on their number board along with any award tags. Drivers should apply their Standing on both side's boards and be sure their number is in line with their actual standing in the Championship.
Should look like this:

Rules and requirements:
To maintain accuracy and integrity to this recognition, drivers who choose to add their standing to their car will be required to submit an updated profile picture before each event with their scrutineering tuning sheet. Submissions will be reviewed post event just as I do for the driver regulations.
If a driver forgets to submit the car picture with a standing displayed or has the wrong standing placement displayed , it will result in a 5 point penalty against the overall event score. This has to be in place to ensure that those who want to display their standing, maintains the attention and accuracy for it to be credible.
If choosing to display, be sure your edited livery is correct, accurate, and saved prior to each event. If unsure or not interested in displaying your standing, simply leave it blank or just apply double zeros.
The profile pictures will not be used for the Driver profile page, only for scrutineering to maintain the integrity of this recognition.
Again, this is optional, but if done correctly, it will be a great way to know who is where in the standings as the season unfolds.
