This thread is to gauge interest in a two-class touring car series run on Monday nights. The room will open at 21:30 EST, qualifying will start at 21:45, and the race will begin at 22:00. This is still in the development phase; we are still locking down car classes. Feel free to contribute.

Here's the class specifications under consideration.

Just an FYI, the Altezza will murder all the other Lower Class cars. The BMW 130i(I think) touring car would be a better match.

We tuned them down to 500pp, and they were within a second of each other.

I'm interested...since I'm not classifed as "lower skilled" I'll let someone else pick the car I have to drive. I don't have time to test all these anyway.

I'm seriously considering doing what you suggested and put faster drivers on a harder tire compound, but I don't want to put anyone at a disadvantage for the whole season, even you Huyler.

I'm going to run some more testing tonight in my lounge, so join me anytime.

I'm interested, I'll see if I can commit to two nights a week. In the meantime, I found this: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=5154844#post5154844

Some random thoughts:

* I'm a big fan of not allowing any parts to be added.
* I am not fan of limiting by PP. Some cars with less PP will still be powerful in their class. Again, I point out the NSXs in JGTC500 and the SC430s. The PP system just isn't that good.
* One of the cars I was testing last night, the C-West Silvia, was actually JGTC 300. You've got one of the GT 500 430s listed in the open class. I don't know how competitive all of the 300s will be in the lower class, but it is something to consider. They should be, I believe, all limited to 276 HP.
* If there is the need to limit by PP, then please do it with ballast and aerodynamics. In most cases, a car with power limiting down to the same level as another car will be notable faster because of its better torque curve.

There is a touring car B-Spec race available. I ran about 14 or 15 of those races today. The numbers are slightly skewed because it is on Madrid, not a good circuit for really winding out these cars, and it includes the R8s, which are much faster. They always win, so when I say the average place that cars finished, keep in mind that positions 1-3 were always an R8 (depending on how many R8s were seeded).

Abt Audi TT-R Touring Car '02 average finish: 7
M3 GTR Race Car '01 average finish: 7
CLK Touring Car '00 average finish: 8
Calibra Super Touring Car '94 average finish: 8

So, do you think that the DTM cars in the top class and the concept touring cars in the lower class would work?

Possibly.

I think the concept Super Touring cars should go into the open. And I think you might be able to put in the SC430s from the GT 500 class into the open, if you want. And I think you might be able to put the front-engine GT 300s into the lower class with the concept tourers. Would take some testing.

I'd love to help you test, but I need to do some forum work for the Lemons series.

I guess that should go in the open, then.

Wow, thanks Garris! (Or Vol. I don't know what to call you.) That list is awesome. We're going to have to do some testing next week after the DLC drops and I'm going to have to do some UCD grinding for cars.

Just learned that Gillette offered promo codes to download a touring version of the 2010 Camaro. It has expired. :(

Don't cry about it, it wasn't that good. It was a stock 2010 camaro with a weird chin spoiler and side skirts, and this color shift paintjob that you couldn't change. It wasn't very exciting, but it was free.

Yeah, I got one of those. It's nothing special. Probably wouldn't even be competitive.

And I guess we're on hold another week awaiting the dlc. :/

Sadly, yes.

Are you surprised? I'm not. It could take another 6 years to get it so don't hold your breath.

Can't blame PD for this one though. It seems that Kaz was as surprised as we were when Sony announced the delay for North America.

That just means that the special bonus will be coming from Sony and not PD, meaning it likely won't be related to GT5. Probably a free XMB theme or some nonesuch.

It'd be nice if the pack was discounted for the first week or so.

I'm in, I have a few cars and some time to decide :P

The specs of DLC Cars that are unknown (according to mygrantruismo.net) (hp/torque/kg)

SRT8: 602/698/1285
CR-Z: 200/243/910
MX-5: 207/204/795
RX-7: 482/526/975
Lancer X: 432/521/1115
GT-R: 653/709/1215 (needs to be downtuned big time)
R34: 607/807/1130
R33: 569/746/1115 (THE TORQUE!)
R32: 507/629/1145
Impreza: 462/590/1140
Prius: 203/259/1035

I don't know if these can be modified yet :P I don't have the pack, I live in Canada.

If you want a GTR in the series, the Schulze may be more appropriate:
486/594/1505

The cars I might choose:
FTO Super Touring (most likely)
ISF RM
Integra RM

If you need any more help with cars, just ask.

Yo man, (hahahah)

Thanks for posting that. It looks like we can put the CR-Z, MX-5, and the Prius in the lower class.

Yeah, I think we should do some testing or something sometime, see if the cars work out together.

I think a maximum of 8 cars per class would be good.

That's the plan, but the delay of the DLC has pushed everything back. But add me as a friend on PSN anyway, I'm sure we'll be on testing what we can this week.

Should we have some exhibition races tonight? I think I've got a few TCs already. I'll just run what I have and see how they perform. While searching for lemons cars, I forgot I should be looking for touring cars too.

We can use HSR to test since that will reveal the fastest straight line runners. After that, maybe try a technical track like Laguna to see how that works.

my skill level is average and i would like to join.
the FTO is my first choice or i will take the toyota altezza touring car

Crap, that's late over here...

We get the NSX GT500, and the GTR GT500 stealths, so I think one of those should be added, preferably the GTR since all the other GTR's are too high performance, and the GTR is free.
