Yep. Maybe an hour earlier would be a good time or something :P

I got all day tommorow and the next day, though.

Stock tonight. We will be limiting HP i'm pretty sure.

Please, limit with ballast/aero.

If I can make it on tonight, I'll join you. I know most of you are interested in the open class, where there are a lot more cars. I'm interested in the lower class. :)

I'd like to run the Mazda6. I know its in the lower class but as long as there are a few others in that low class to race with I think it will be fun.

Also, I'm curious as to whether the Camaro Z28 RM '69 would qualify. mgt.net says it is 322hp / 1085kg. It should fit with the lower class. I'll grab one for tonight. The Lancer Evolution IX GSR RM '05 and IMPREZA Sedan WRX STI spec C Type RA RM '05 are right around 320/1050 as well.

I was also curious about an RM Sylvia at this level, though I'll probably just go with the Integra TCs.

It's missing about 40hp but is 50-100kg lighter. It might perform well on twisty tracks once tire wear becomes a factor, but it probably won't qualify or run quick enough to keep opponents behind.

I was imagining that it would need a part or two to get it up to the same PP level. It is my understanding that fully blown it will reach the upper 500s, closer to the PP level of the open class.

I imagine most of the RMs, with just the right combination of parts, would be able to get into the low range and a few would be able to get into the high range.

Is this going to be on Wednesday night?

I am hoping for Mondays (though I can probably do either).

I can only do Mondays. So im hoping as well

Testing was fun! Looks like the lower class cars are fairly even at 500pp. Well, the Camaro might need +5pp or so, but the group was sticking together pretty well aside from mistakes. Was draft on strong or weak? Are you going to allow LM cars in as well (S2000)? It seemed just a bit quicker than the others... might need -5pp.

Do you have an idea of pp for the Open Class so I can go ahead and get them refreshed and tweaked?

Oh man, and the new cars are coming out next week. There are too many choices! I'm not good at making decisions. :)

I really was enjoying driving that RM Sylvia. And I have to say I liked the RM Camaros, if for no other reason but they were all painted differently. The RM NSX comes in just under 500 PP, too. I think the rest of the RMs are too low to get up to 500 or to much higher that they'd need a bit of limiting.

I got to thinking that this could just be sort of like the 450 PP club, but... anti. The 450 PP club is no RC, RM, Tuners. This could be only RC, RM (and maybe Tuners). Then you just pick two PP levels (500 and 575?) and people run any race car they want at those levels. The idea has its drawbacks, though.

All in all, I have to say there aren't enough crappy drivers. I was able to keep up as long as I didn't make a mistake (so for about three laps at a time). I also used the RM Sylvia most of the time, and I suspect that if anyone else drove it, it would've been faster at 500 than most of the other cars that were on the track. I think that is the only reason I was able to keep up.

I would like to go ahead and credit myself for making the Camaro competitive :P

Was fun last night, the Silvia RM just has too much grip, I was cruising behind chuyler at Laguna last night. I started drifting and finally made my car not hook last turn and gave it away. This looks like a fun series, I won't be joining you all, but I did like the test session, so if you don't mind I might hop in from time to time.

I was thinking the same thing, but would limiting power and weight be more effective? I'm guessing not, but there has to be some way to get some parity outside of testing every damn car, right?

Limiting power/weight will do the same.

I guess limit power/weight and no more than X% engine limiting where X is something relatively small like 2.

So crappy drivers like me, racing touring cars at around 8-10pm EST/EDT on Monday or Wednesday nights?

Count me in! I'll also be happy to help with testing, I'm usually online 8-9 EST/EDT

Hey dabney (and anyone else who is doing the testing) Add me: PSN ID: Freakyweakywoo.

It looks like everyone wants Monday, so it'll be on Monday once everything gets nailed down. Probably more like 9:45-11:30 though.

I strayed from your changes once I figured out the car was on SH tires. I don't know why it leaves those tires on when you RM it. I think the Camaro will work fine for the series if it is limited to just the RM parts. It puts it around 515 with stock downforce and that should allow it to race competitively (assuming you put the right tires on it :dopey:)

We had slipstream on low the entire time. I think it was more realistic. You could recover from minor mistakes at HSR but if you spun out and lost the draft entirely you probably won't make it back to the front. In the camaro, I tagged the outside curb and had to lift off on lap 2. I fell back to last place but was able to draft to a few car lengths on the last lap. From there I was in the right position to miss the final turn mayhem.

At Laguna, I felt the Camaro could use those extra PPs. I was still at 500 and it just felt slow. If I caught Bowtie, I wasn't able to pass. I lingered about 5 10ths back for a lap and a half and I wasn't really gaining any time despite being in his draft on multiple occasions.

Do you have a definition for "lower skilled drivers"?

Can not join this, time with CET is not really realistic.

If you crash and lose a lot, you're a 'lower skilled driver.'

We have to choose between making things work for Europeans or for North Americans when it comes to picking a time. North America wins simply because we experience much less lag versus Europe.

If it isn't between 9:30PM-12:00AM Eastern Time on a week night, I won't be making it. That's the only time I race. Sun, Mon, Weds, Thurs are all open for me.

I'm in the same boat, which drastically limits my choice of racing series, have to get my daughter off to bed before the wheel comes out.

Mon, Wed, Thurs, Sun all work for me. In the Capp Cup I also race in they run three race slots a week, it is more work for the organizer (or use sub hosts), but it allows far more people the chance to get a race in, if you race in more than one race that week, your top finish is used for the standings.

I updated the first post, but just so there aren't any more questions, we are going to be running on Monday nights from 9:30 until 11:30. Like the Lemons series and the 450PP tuners club, the room will open at 9:30 PM EST, qualifying at 9:50, and race start at 10PM. Objections?

I may be into this too. Thanks for setting it up.

Are we gonna need to select 1 car or class to run? It's fun mixing it up with different rides.

It's actually weird. Even though these cars are faster, they are actually easier to drive than our typical 450 cars. I guess the sticky tires, new physics, and downforce more than make up for the 50 extra performance points. However, it does change the way I attack the tracks. My lines and braking points are Laguna were very different.

Mondays are fine with me.

On an unrelated note. Huyler, I was looking at your youtube and it's weird how much we have in common. I marched trumpet in high school, have an old greyhound, have a nice mountain bike (fisher cake), have a computer job, and enjoy racing in GT5.

But my dog is brindle, not black. I work in training/support. Haven't been on my bike in ages. I have zero cats. And you're actually quick in GT5. So I guess it's not too creepy. :)
