Here are some more pictures for volunteers to transcribe. This data goes right after what's in ajns73's file (post #1315), in other words the bottom right car in picture 002.jpg is car #8440 in master list #1.

An FGT finally showed up! It's towards the end of the sequence. There are 93 pictures, which means 186 days. I suggest to work on pictures 20 at a time. I'll take the first batch, so pictures 002 to 021. If someone else wants to work on them, post it here. First person would specify they'll work on pictures 022 to 041, for example, and so on.

Edit: A Nismo GT-R LM Road Going Version '95 also shows up, it's on picture 042.jpg.

I've got some other real life things going on at the moment, but I will try to get in on this before they're all transcribed.

Ok, I'll take on pics 022 - 041.

Am I right in thinking bottom-right car of 022.jpg would be #8560 (in day 1427) on ML1?

Edit: Wooo! I spy an R390 Road car on pic 017.jpg :D Not (too...) long to go, yay!!

I think it's #8680, since it's 20 pictures later at 12 cars per picture (8440 + 12x20 = 8680).

Also, I wanted to say that I had this crazy idea to try to advance the number of days "artificially" to see how many days there was in the cycle and also to see where the two lists merged, if they do. So I looked at my saved game files, one before and one after advancing only one day (and doing nothing else). Comparing them is impossible, they are totally different. I thought there was going to be only a couple of bytes that would be different, telling me where the day information was stored, but I guess the files are encrypted, so it does not seem like it's going to be possible, unfortunately. Ah well...

I am having quite a bit of trouble locating my UCD day. Maybe I just don't get it.

Here are two pics

Day 207 of my main driving account
Yes, I am only on day 207.

Day 1 on another PS3 account to show you guys what I start with.

lil help?

Your day 1 is day 42 on master list #1. The top six cars of your day 1 UCD are cars 249 to 254. So add 41 days plus 2 cars to find your spot in the list.

By the way, are the Buick Special, Jaguar XFR and the HPA R32 missing in ML#1 too?

Yes they are. Does anyone know for certain they will never appear in the UCD? I know they are prize cars, but all of the other (standard) ones appear in the UCD at some point.

I think it's #8680, since it's 20 pictures later at 12 cars per picture (8440 + 12x20 = 8680).

You're quite right - yet another dunce moment for me... been a bit mad around here and at work, so I've got an excuse :sly:

Made it through 10 pics last night though, going's quicker than I thought even when including mileage / cost / pp. Should get another 10 pics done by week's end 👍

And looking at the save file was a nice idea... shame though

Also, I gather from reading this thread that at least a few people here are quite advanced in their number of game days. Your contributions to the UCD database would be very appreciated and very valuable (see link in my sig).

Day 2762 here which seems a lot to me so if i can help out at all i will

Thanks! If you're on list #1, you are probably right in the major gap. If you could start a new game and see what's in your UCD on day 1, that would be great.

Edit: Just posted this poll, trying to generate a bit more interest in the UCD database...

Right, have finished my first group of 20 pics... They cover cars #8680 to #8919 (days 1447 to 1487).

Will therefore take on the next batch of pics, 042 to 061, but I will be leaving out the mileage etc to speed things

Edit : Just seen I had days shifted by one row - I had assumed car# was referring to row number on master list, now I see otherwise !! Attachment updated.

 Evidence required methinks, easily the rarest car if it is in there :D

Also, done those 20 pics... took a little over 40 mins just listing the car name, including distractions (tv!) lol

I set up a quick reference table to enable drop down menus with just cars from that manufacturer in. Much quicker now :D Added in attachments if you want to try it/extend it.

Edit: removed template attachment, see post #1335

I was just wondering how to do that! I'm using openoffice, however, so I cannot see what your code looks like. If you don't mind explaining it a bit, or if you could just provide pseudo-code, I would appreciate it!

Not much in the way of coding/pseudo-coding, just making use of Excel's native features... mainly Data Validation and some reference/lookup formulae.

Don't use OpenOffice much (as I have a basic Microsoft Office package) - I think it'll struggle to replicate what I've done in Excel, but will have a rummage around.

Edit: From a quick attempt, problem is that when using data validation from a list, I can't find a way of using a formula in the lookup/source entry ...

Not sure how you have yours set up, but I use a macro to auto-complete. It's a bit of a hack, but it works. Check my last upload if you want to see what I use.

I'd already had a look at your upload (I've been using it to see what I need to buy in the UCD as I'm going throught those days now :D), but can't see the macro information in it... Get a warning saying there is macro content, but none are listed.

Probably still get tedious running through the skylines !!

Next step would be to merge the two methods I guess  I'm pretty sure a macro can be used to more efficiently cover most of what I've been utilising haha.

Edit: Updated template, may help reading links/formulae

Take a look at this: http://www.contextures.com/xldataval10.html

You'll have to change the parameter names to fit your UCD file, but it works pretty well. The double clicking is a bit of a pain, but I have yet to find a better solution given the size of the validation list we're working with. This is the best system I have found for entering cars from pictures as quickly as possible.

I'm already using data validation, which makes things a lot easier, I would just have liked to figure out how to limit the list of valid models once the make has been chosen -- that would make it even faster.

Thanks for the link ajns, cleared something up for me :) Have now got autofill + dropdown lists :D

Have got dependent drop down lists to work in openoffice, but macros look like they may need a fairly extensive rewrite to get the autofill to work.

Are you able to take further photos seg? Or is it a bit of hassle...?

No hassle, but kind of boring... but it's for a good cause! So expect a few more very soon.

EDIT: here are 40 fresh pictures that go right after the previous ones. If my computations are correct, it would start at car #9556.

Sorry they wouldn't work "out of the box" in OO. At least you got autofill going, which is a huge help to get you in the neighborhood of the car.

Here are cars #9160 to 9555 in spreadsheet form, from the previous batch of pictures.

I mentioned before that there's an FGT in this batch, but I don't know if I already said that there is a Nissan - 350Z Concept LM Race Car also! TornadoAlley, I guess this brings your list down to one car! Although we might have to add the Buick Special to it...

Anyone know if the Sauber Mercedes C9 Race Car '89, BMW V12 LMR Race Car '99 or Tommykaira ZZII '00 appear after day 1000 on ML1?

Had a quick look (through latest data too), doesn't look like the le mans cars have been seen past day 500 unfortunately. Bit late, but the BMW and Sauber have both been in the OCD recently (sauber at least once).

edit: ninja'd lol

Hoping to get onto those latest pics later; will post if I do get round to it ;)

OK, will jump onto those latest piccies.
Done something silly to my elbow (dunno what lol), so laying off the steering wheel for the night :D

Edit : Didn't take so long lol... ML1 days 1593-1633 (cars #9556-#9795)

The UCD car selection is the same regardless of level, however you can drive faster cars as you level up (level required is indicated beside each car).

So yes, you do seem to end up with a dozen skylines and mx-5's every time you look in, whatever level you are at :D

From what you wrote there, it sounded like you did only half of the pictures... but looking at the file, you actually did all 40 pictures (up to day 1673 and car 10035)!

I guess I'll start working on some more pictures, then. I deleted a lot of cars from my garage, hoping this would reduce the time it takes for saving the file each time I advance the UCD (by using the license tests trick). But I just realized that I could just turn off the auto-save feature :dunce: :dunce: That should accelerate things quite a bit!

EDIT: looks like it cannot be turned off, after all...

Oh well, at least I labelled the file correctly :D

Am considering progressing another gamesave to catch up... but it's only on day 32 :sly: So would take rather a long time :ouch:

Probably almost as quick to type in the cars as it is to take a pic and upload it haha....

Also, you could turn off net connection if you haven't already... often do that when I'm not racing online, as it slows the game down waaaaay too much ...
