I had great fun, some awesome racing going on yesterday. Needed some time to adjust to the new track/ car. The track has some tricky blind corners and the 512 is a hand full, but when the night progressed I could keep up better with the front runners.

@spy, The tyres hold up good for the 5 lap race we did, maybe later this week we can double up the laps?!:mischievous:

Be back tonight.:)

I did 10 laps in the lounge free run I'm not the quickest by any stretch of the imagination but was hitting 1'16.8 and .7 in the first 5 laps. Next 5 laps were still in the 1'17.xxx and 1'18.xxx

You can add a second a lap to these time for me in a race, but in free run the tyres were still quite good for the 10 laps. :sly:

Phillip.

Ok,this sounds good !!

So the sport soft tires are much less weary than the racing soft tires it seems....

This is a good job by PD than,as this is also the case in real life!!

Agree Phil, easily good for 10 laps, maybe more ;)
The laps are only 1.16, so 10 laps makes the race 13 minutes long.

BTW how did you like the Senna movie/doc Alexi ??

spy.

Thought it was amazing. It must have been a nightmare to put everything together, but it seems to go from different types of video quality seamlessly. I guess it being a film/doc helps it get away with that, but thought it had a great narrative, although a bit over the top with the Prost stuff. Prost is a bit of a ****, but it painted him as a super villain!

Would it have made as good a film if he went fishing with the medic?

👍

Room open: 1472-6118-3701-4254-5717

I'll only be around for an hour or so, but maybe someone will keep it going, either way, we'll update the thread.

EDIT:
Right, I'm off out now, but the room is still open with Tony, Bart, Wes, Magic Noir and Phenicks.

Hopefully it will stay open, but Cobani, Phil, Captain, etc feel free to open a room if it closes.

👍

Tonight we had a special feature race where I would pick my favorite shot.

I wanted to go for a shot of our guest ampj6, who had to get to grips with a very difficult car and al lot of fast drivers ...

...but then Phil decided to spin out of the lead ...

... giving Wes and Bart a chance to make a run for it ...

... only for Wes to lose it on the straight ...

In the end: Great race for a photoshoot and thanks for everybody involved. 👍

Not to take any spot light away from Cobani, but I thought I'd show you the car in full movement on a particularly amazing corner on one of Joylords latest.

Track Creator Racing - ALL WELCOME!

Picking up from the post by ampj6 where is TCR heading and what is its main aim, we get great custom made tracks from Alexi & Jonathan with a car choice to suit for very close racing by all levels.

But we only get 2 or 3 days in which to learn the track before racing begins in earnest, were as GT5 tracks from the game we can still be learning them 12 months on.

I’ve noticed over the last few days from opening a room that a number of guests join and leave due to not being able to get to grips (sorry pun) with the track and car combo to really be able to enjoy all the hard work Alexi & Jonathan put into it, what we must remember if we wish to make full grids is not everyone is as proficient at playing the game as Noss, Tiggles, Alexi, Jon, Cobani, Mr D and many others.

So I propose that when making a room available to others as we do, we turn on some of the aids in the hope of helping others enjoy TCR more, things like driving line will help guests learn the track quicker, TC will help members using the DS3, like Jonathan maybe forced to use it after years on the wheel, how he manages to stay on track is beyond me 10/10, I couldn’t.

We all know that the aids are not an advantage to many of the fast guys, this you can test yourselves by running a few laps with aids on and aids off, we also know that each individual can turn the aids off if they wish in options.

When I open a room for TCR and follow the room setup set by Alexi or Jonathan I still can’t get past the feeling of arrogance some time, when guests come in and leave due to not being able to control the combo, aids could be on for two days, or every other day, what every helps to fill the grids with good clean racing and make TCR more popular.

Food for thought.

I do understand your point Phil and I do agree to being able to use some selected driving aids to hold a bigger crowd.
I'm thinking down the line of driving line (is that a pun?), TC and ABS. No spin recovery and so.

But I must insist that I feel I'm in no position to vote for this change, because I'm still a very fresh member of TCR and that I would not want to take anything away from Alexi and Joylord, for they have created a fantastic place in GT and I'm loving every minute of it.

Wow, great photos guys. Looks like I missed a great night.

Good point Phil. I think you're right and we should try to be as inclusive as possible. Driving line, tc and abs will be available from now on, but the other aids could be a step too far. I think we have to be careful with the amount of aids available as this could be as much of a turn off as no aids.

As always it's a tricky balancing act that makes it impossible to please all the people all the, but we should never forget it's all about having fun.

However, it might not be the aids that put people off. It could be the track, car, tyres or they might just be popping in for a quick nose.

Great feedback Phil. Everyone's opinion is always appreciated.

Off out today, but I should be able to get back for a late session.

👍

I totally agree Phillip as racing line and TC must be able to be used at own discretion, there was one other one but can’t think of it now.

TCR is for everybody that wants to run the combo for that week, if you would like to run the combo and there is no room open then open it under TCR and then post the room number on the thread. It is that easy. We have managed to bring track creator to people that would have probably never even thought about joining or even looked at online track creations. So don’t forget that. The only gripe I have this week is that there was no track testing as this gives you the chance to show off your track.

I haven’t enjoyed the combo this week as every corner I’m coming out of it seems to be sideways and there is nothing challenging about the track for me.
Another thing that I would like to raise is why are there such a sort amount of laps, it’s like sprint racing you can’t get into a grove, I mean ten laps is only fifteen minutes of you waiting for the next race, Also reverse grids is a no no, the guys that are fast need to be battling out in front. I may not be fast but I would at least like to drive a track that is challenging even if I’m all by myself and I’ll find my battles along the way while racing. And I think what Alexi doesn’t get is that you guys that are fast are having fun up front racing each other but what do the guys at the back have? So this is why I look for challenging tracks where there is a corner or part of the track that gets you wanting to keep going round and round.

Now I know what tracks are good for racing and I think I have proven that with the tracks I have created.

Thanks

This is what I like to see good discussion about things that would help Alexi & Jonathan move their event forward, your points are as valuable as any others Cobani, and I’m not saying they should allow aids.

But as the title says all welcome we wouldn’t want to become elitist would we, take disabled members like myself, although I have both feet, some may just have one leg, you try doing five laps with just your left foot and you’ll see were my thoughts were aimed.

Which if any aids are allowed is down to Alexi & Jonathan, I don’t mind if any or none myself, I’m just trying to find ways of building the client base as to speak. I would love to see full grids and people knocking at the door to get in, if preferred to leave it no aids, maybe change the title to all welcome no aids racing, then we won’t be asked to turn on this and that.

Enjoy your day Alexi, I’ll open a room later unless someone beats me to it.

Phillip.

Sorry Jon about the lap count in my lounge, I was just following Alexi & yourself as it was set at five when I joined in, I posted earlier I tried 10 laps and even for me it was still doable, but I'm old school I wouldn't change anything in your event without asking first.

Ok, looks like that track has run it's course ...Ba dum chisssss!
I downloaded your new track yesterday, but haven't managed to give it a go yet.
Let's use it tonight with the extra aids and hopefully it will improve the racing.

👍

I just want to thank all of you guys, as I have said in the past and I’ll say it again “it’s just a track, it’s you guys that make it fun”.

...Ba dum chisssss!👍
lol Alexi. Sorry man it wasn't meant to be harsh. Like you have said if it's not your cup of tea..... then there is always next week. And it hasn't been my cuppa this week. But I know that the guys have enjoyed your track. Just giving feedback thats all.

I haven't shared a track. The track I had shared is not a good track for racing. It's nice to drive but more for time trial. I still think you should run your track for the week. That's the combo for the week.

My wife (Angela) calls me a windup merchant too.
Phillip
We need feedback and this is healthy. we are all men and only human at the end of the day. There are things that we could still work on. But it's all about fun at the end of the day

Edit: Actually thinking about it the other night when I joined I did feel rushed and wasn’t given the chance to learn the track before racing, so I guess I got a bit frustrated and I’m not saying it’s anybody’s fault its just food for thought. We have to take into consideration laps and what is comfortable time between races, so we need to think about this as criteria for the future and make it as pleasant to join the room. Any suggestions welcome.

TCR needs a template. I have a job at TCR, track creator and selector. Alexi does brilliantly at the post and room host, Phillip your also brilliant at this, Cobani and Tiggs brilliant photographers…..anybody else want to add to TCR?

Drift I talked up a while ago, and you get to see my lines!

I drive my little wipper snapper with a brake bias of 4 Front 7 Rear. I think it compromises my exit speed on curtain corners, but it does really help me on entry as it seems to suite my run and slide driving style.

For anyone other DS3 users, my controller setup goes like this.

R2/L2- accel/brake
R1/L1- shift up, down
L3- steering, press to toggle lights
R3- look around, press for rear view
X + directional pad- Live adjustments, TC, ABS etc
O- handbrake
Triangle- reverse
square- highbeams

sensitivity is set to 3

Question for thought, am I to aggressive and random when I battle you or fair and predictable (to an extent). Open for honesty there. Thanks

Allready wishing every one here at TCR a happy new year and please be safe tonight with the fire works... :)

I will be going into town here in Rome dodging all explosives the drunk Italians will throw at us... :nervous:

They are notorious for setting off home made bombs wich kill and injure several people each year :scared:

But usually there are great parties on the streets and the champagne will taste good as allways... :sly:

Ciao, and see you all next week!!

p.s. Sam i never had any problems racing with you,so all 👍👍 from my part there!!
