Fantastic racing tonight guys, not been on in a bit but tonight made up for that. Great battles with everyone else learning the track.

Apologies from Alexi and myself as there hasn’t been much response from us but TCR is undergoing a bit of maintenance. We are once again trying to be more inclusive. Watch this space.

Sam nice idea and don’t give up on the idea. And I hope you can also accept my apology.

Thanks Davinci for the feedback. I think the combo works pretty well and there are a verity of cars to choose from but they might not be the fastest by a few tenths but definitely race competitive. I’m really enjoying the WRX and running power distribution 38 front and 52 rear which helps get the car turned in, and when the fingers are all working properly I break into the low 1:31.

Thanks

As there's not been much 4WD action, we thought it was about time there was. We're looking at the supercar end of the 4WD spectrum, so the grids are one of the best looking we've ever had.

See you guys on track!

Indeed Jon.
I'll do my best to update the thread with our new format for the New Year.
It's not a radical change, more tidying up what we already have.

The main changes are
1. More member participation.
Members will be asked to submit a combo idea during testing (not obligatory). Testing may last for 2-3 days. All members vote on which combo is best.
2. Monthly event in any race car that uses the favourite track of the month, voted by members. PP to suit track.

More detail to follow.

Thanks for trying Phillip. I think everybody may be doing some bspec as I for one think it's brilliant what PD have offered. The credits you can earn.... man it's so worth doing.

Video to show the track.

I’ll try my hand at helping these busy guys out with a little input, I’ve designed a 3 section track which is downloadable from me, track name Eriba Eifel (for want of a better name)

I’ve tried to make a complex first section but with camber, so if your brave you may like to try hanging on the outside, this is to help the FF, which has a tendency to pull you off the track as we know.

Car I tested is the Nissan March 12SR ’07 with full tune buy everything you can, I’ve tried to stick to the same length track as TCR and lap time of around the 1’30 to 1’35.

As we’ve had FR, MR, TC, MR and now AWD maybe this will make a change for some whippet type racing for next week, I picked full tune so guys can show off their tuning skills with what should be a very equal car.

I ran with Sport Soft’s because of the tendency of the FF to pull you off track with 234hp and only 849Kg we don’t want to be spending more time on the grass than the track.

I’ll put this combo forward for testing as we normally do.

Phillip.

Thanks for the fun races tonight guys, shame i had to leave but the missus wanted to watch a movie...sooo...well you know.

Looks great Phil, looking foreward to test it!

Room is now closed.
Great turnout tonight gentlemen and absolutely fantastic side by side racing!
Unbelievable racing skills were shown all down the grid.

Alexi, you were spot on with your advertisement for the Audi.
Fastest overall car, PB on the second lap! 👍

Track is now shared, the little car looks lonely all by its self on track testing, I’ve tried to come up with a combo where by passing is made easy, I did testing with the ghost and was able to undercut on corner, out brake or try to be brave and go round the outside (yeah like I’m that good not)

The March 12SR ’07 is only 17,830 from the dealership so everyone could afford to buy a new model, kit it out, custom wheels and paint job for Cobani’s fantastic Kodak moment.

Phillip I absolutely smiled when I saw your post. You get it.

I don’t want to say to much as Alexi is working hard on trying to explain a new proposal. But I would also like for you to think about laps and any other requirements for your event (Weather and so on, I was hoping to copy online lounge settings) as when people run your event on your behalf at least there is a criteria to meet…. all within reason. Or do you think this is too much?

Teamwork is also encouraged maybe there is a good tuner for a car that they would like to share for a track.

And the feature photo thing is just brilliant, I think guys would drive around just for that, I know I’m one of them.

Thanks

Wasn’t trying to take onboard any organizing Jon, this is why when I posted the video I said I’ve tried to keep it to what TCR already has ie 3 sector around the 2.5 mile / kilometer and about the 1’30 1’35 per lap.

I know how hard it is to hold down a full job and try to find the time up put together and organize events, I read the post were by plans for change are a foot so I was just trying to help out if the combo is acceptable in the normal form for TCR after testing.

But I’m always willing to help Alexi and yourself out any time you wish.

Phillip.

Sorry if it came across as pushing people to organise events. It’s not what I intended. I’ll wait for Alexi as he’s better at all the explaining and writing up. I seem to just put my foot in it lately. I need to keep my mouth shut. We are just trying to make it that anybody can have a chance.

But you can still count on Alexi and myself to offer events.

You can count on me Jon, as you know i'm here most of the day if you both need help with anything just say. 👍

I'm loving your thinking Phil.
This is exactly the type of thing we're after.

I've just sent the proposal to Jon, once he is ok with it, I'll post it on the thread later this evening. I have incorporated some of the recent ideas people have come up with, but it will probably need refining as time goes on.

Will be online in 30 minutes to open a room, but you've probably got that covered already.
Where would TCR be without you Phil?

Think my connection is struggerling tonight, only normal have to many computers, ipad and phone on the go at moment.

Ok, I've been threatening to do this for a while, so here goes...
...put the kettle on, this may take some time.

TCR 2.0

Here at TCR, we are committed to providing you with the highest quality racing the online world has to offer and endeavour to constantly improve and refine our format in order to achieve this excellence.

2012 brings TCR's first monthly event and will have more participation from it's members, here's how it will work from now on.

TESTING - Monday to Wednesday

Each week, testing will be running for 2-3 days and will be held in a private room. Any of the regulars can open a testing room, but post this in the thread when you do. This is so it's easy to share tracks, so make sure you're a friend of room owner to join.

Members will be invited to present an idea for a combo. Only 1 track and 1 car per member per week (but people can work in pairs if they wish). Each track will have approximately 15 minutes practice and a couple of 5 lap races. This means we'll spend around 30-60 minutes per combo. Jon and I will always have a couple of options to present, but I will probably reserve mine for when we don't have many ideas.

The track must be a 3 sector track. There will be a mix of levels, so please don't make a 5 mile track with complexity 10. Another thing to bare in mind is the placement of rumble strips. It may sound silly, but it makes a big difference to the racing. We're not expecting many tracks per week, so take your time as we will probably only want to test around 5 tracks per week maximum. Also, don't forget we can experiment with weather and time etc...

The car (if single make race), must be available in the premium dealership or online dealership, in order to make it easy for people to join, but there is the odd acceptation to the rule. Again, remember there will be a mix of levels, so 500hp on comfort softs will probably scare most off. I also prefer it when you can modify the look of your car for a unique look. Makes the pictures look better and you can spot your nemesis easier.

Once we have tested all combos, members will be asked to post their vote on the thread. Before voting can begin, I will post the options to choose from on the thread. Deadline would be the afternoon of the first evening of racing. In the event of a draw, we will either keep one of the tracks for the following week or Jon and I will cast the final vote.

If we realise that "member A's" track, goes well with "member B's" car, we will do the obvious thing and mash it up!

Once the vote has been decided, I will posting the event details for all to see.

RACING - Wednesday to Sunday

Anyone can open a racing room, but they must always be in an open lobby so anyone can join and please remember to post the room number. Plus they must use the track and car combo that was voted for.

The regulations are as follows.

START - Grid with false start check
TYRE WEAR - ON
FUEL DEPLETION - ON
GRIP OFF TRACK - Real
SLIP STREAM - Weak
PENALTY - Strong
DAMAGE - Light
ASM - Not allowed
SKID RECOVERY - Not allowed
ACTIVE STEERING - Not allowed
TRACTION CONTROL - Allowed
DRIVING LINE - Allowed
ABS - Allowed

Here are some suggestions for the racing.

I like to start the racing with 5 laps, then build it up to 10, 15 and maybe 20+ with pitstops as the week goes on.

Ideally we'll have a 5 minute gap between races on autostart, but this is not always ideal when waiting for members to join.

Watch out for the punters. There will always be accidents, but I think I can spot the difference between clumsy driving and a ram instantly. I always thinks it's best to give the benefit of the doubt and to give them a warning, but if it's blatant, kick them.

Also, don't forget, we race for fun!

WEEKLY TIMETABLE

These aren't set in stone, but is a rough guide to our weekly timetable.
When we've opened a lounge, we'll post the Room Number

Monday: 20.00 - 00.00 GMT / TESTING

Tuesday: 20.00 - 00.00 GMT / TESTING

Wednesday: 20.00 - 00.00 GMT / TESTING

Thursday: 20.00 - 00.00 GMT / RACING

Friday: 20.00 - 00.00 GMT / RACING

Saturday: 20.00 - 00.00 GMT / RACING

Sunday: 20.00 - 00.00 GMT / RACING

MONTHLY EVENT

As you have read above, TCR will be introducing a monthly event which will be ANY RACE CAR, at a PP to suit the track we use and will be decided by Jon, I and the regulars.

The track will be decided by voting for your favourite track from the previous 3 weeks of racing. Before voting can begin, I will post the options to choose from on the thread. Voting will take place during the 3rd week of racing.
Once the vote has been decided, I will posting the event details for all to see.

Because of the wide range of cars to choose and the fact that the track will be different every month, it will be interesting to see which race car comes out on top at each PP value. Plus, there will be limited testing as we will be familiar with the track already.

MONTHLY TIMETABLE

TCR will operate on a 4 weekly cycle.

Week 1: Track 1, Car 1

Week 2: Track 2, Car 2

Week 3: Track 3, Car 3

Week 4: Track to be decided by vote from previous 3 weeks, Any race car within specified PP

Ok, I think that's everything, but I'm sure this will need refining somewhat. Then I'll update the 1st post if the thread.
Feedback welcome from all, but I would prefer it if you said it was brilliant and you want to have my babies.

Still awake?

👍

Very interesting Alex and John, I do hope you guys are not putting too much effort into this as you both have lifes to live as we all do. Never the less I enjoy the TCR racing alot and not many if any other series comes close that I have found.
I like all the ideas you both have set bar one and that is the 3 sector track. As you know you ahve been creating three sector curcuits for some time and I believe relaxing that rule a little could help with some track ideas. For example a 5 sector track does not have to be anylonger than a three but it does leave more options as in terms of fast sections to very slow and technical turns. Something like the Korean F1 track.
Anyway thats my (2cents) thoughts and your guys do a great job.

Ps, Alex I most definitely don't want your babies haha :)

Alexi " Also, don't forget, we race for fun "!

I'll have a Tenner on that. :)

Phillip

Alexi,i DO think you are brilliant, but how are we going to make any babies technically?... :scared:

Seriously,great stuff and read! 👍

TCR is getting better and better because of all the hard work you and Jon put in 👍👍👍

TCR 2.0 ...

Good stuff Alexi and Jon. Just be as inviting as possible for newcomers in your 'Welcome-post', for we all want to have a fun night of close clean racing with a full room. 👍

Now as for the ...
TCR_Header_Photorace.jpg

I wanted a shot of Phillip in his Rocket Car, but being a 'standard' I was kinda searching for a shot that wasn't there. So with a very small field off depth and an overcorrection on the lighting, my PS3 popped this out ...

Nice Cobani, brilliant capture with body roll.

And thanks Alexi.

I just want to touch on the three sector thing, There is reasoning behind it...firstly I think it would offer a challenge for the track creators and I think I have proven that you can make beautiful three sectors. And in my opinion I think it's easier to make a good three sector track then four or more, I mean I have long four+ mile and small 2 mile circuits and you can find technical bits as well as, I was hoping that one day if Kevin (WRS) would ever like to use one of our tracks we could maybe ask if we could use fetchbot thats the idea just another thing that I think would add for enjoyment and to challenge you guys as racing enthusiast. I mean what an honour. And I don't have the skills to create such a thing that can record sector times. (Praying)

I have always enjoyed racing circuits and not much of a fan of street circuits but maybe you're good at creating tascana, mnt or gravel tracks there's nothing wrong with variety.

Thanks
