To be honest, I'm thinking about cancelling tonight, it's just not popular anymore, no point spending the time to arrange races when I'm only attracting 3 racers....so thanks to everyone who has wanted to participate in the TRIDENT, it may return in the future...

Sorry to hear it mate but i understand where you're coming from, must take up a good bit of your spare time.
Thanks for the effort you've put in over last few months though:tup:👍,really enjoyed the clean, competative nature of it all.

So,anyone know of another friday night league? Im at a GT loose end now and Its the only night of the week i can guarantee getting on.

very sorry to hear this :ill:
spent ages getting the right cars .
might be able to bring another racer tonight if its still on.

I know I've always been able to count on the *true* regulars...shame its come to this, and I've tried to 'advertise' the TRIDENT in as many places as possible, I've just not attracted any new people....and its a bit of a kick in the teeth after a break to give people time to rest from the weekly GT'ing, but to only have 3 people ready for the first race of the season, it kind of makes you feel like you've wasted your time to organise event after event....

Thanks for the racing. I know the numbers were down, but they will go up again. There will soon be new GTers wanting to join 👍

good racing all round. thought i should of been more prepared for the first race, second race was very close and the third was for me a shambles in first two laps (where i am very sorry to ade cause of couple of overtakes by me were a bit shoddy on my part).

can't wait for next week if it's still going :D

Just done the Spa B spec race. If you put bob in the Mobil 1 NSX (available in the OCD), you dont need to babysit him at all. Just put the car on sports soft tyres, engine tune stage 3 and enter the race. 4 million credits(if your on 200% log in bonus) for a 30 minute race. So I got him doing it again now.

I've tried to get back into the zone, but after Friday's event, my head just isn't in it at the moment, I just can't focus on setting anything up. Like I said, it's felt like a waste of time.

I still think I've got something to offer, I've spent about 3 hours today trying to keep it going, in the end I scrapped it as I just felt it wasn't what people were looking for anymore. Back to the drawing board?

If I get any inspiration across the week, I'll update page 1 (giving you enough time to get sorted - if not, I'll not be back on here this week until I can re-create a weekly series that I feel people want to race in.

Hopefully the TRIDENT will live on....

This is a shame:grumpy: I hope that Trident returns.

Omnius,

I knew you weren't sure what direction you wanted to go - especially as I never got a reply off you to the message I sent on PSN. Could tell you were confused.

I could just as easily put this in a private message and let you know my thoughts but I'd like everyone to see this.

Me and Ade were PM'ing a few weeks back about the SC and how I would participate as much as I could when my church life and work didn't get in the way. I also commended Ade on this new venture and how much I admired him taking on something like the SC, coz I understand how much time and behind-the-scenes work takes place setting this stuff up. I have nothing but respect for all you guys that do this - you, Warrius, and now Ade.

Advance apologies for the double (and possible triple lol) posting here - I dropped my iPhone and that message above sent before I had finished lol.

More to come. Sorry.

Now I'll try again. Had message wrote and all last night on my iPhone then it crashed and I hadn't saved a draft and I had stuff to do for work...

I think it's fair to say, Omnius, that you have the heaviest workload out of the three I mentioned. You select three different car regulations every week - some more comprehensive than others with PP, BHP, drivetrain, aero allowed, even make/model specific. You create a track every week, then you test drive it. If it isn't quite right, then you go back and change it, then it needs tested again. Goodness only knows how many laps and hours you put in in a week doing that. Post-race, you probably watch the replays from every drivers' own angle to get the highlight reel prepared in case you miss something exciting - 20 or 30 minutes multiplied by X amount of racers. And you're always a total gent on the track.

I feel very humble sharing a track or a lounge with you, almost to the point of feeling bad. And - being brutally frank here - of late I have been feeling that I should be donating toward the work that you do, coz I know that I dont give you half the gratitude that you fully deserve. You spend all that time all week preparing an incredible night of racing - all I do is wait for 830pm to come along on a Friday evening, turn on the PS3 and take my place on the grid that has so patiently been prepared for me.

I will be gutted to see the end of Trident as I have a love for it and for all those who compete in it. I wanna make a few suggestions - you can discard them as you wish, but I will be burdened until I speak.

We need to reduce your workload.
Do something like what Warrius does in the ZC and use one car for all races in a week, or what Ade has lined up in the SC for the whole season - all tuned to the exact same spec. It would make for closer, more exciting racing - in the past before I have seen races and positions won or lost due to having a car more suited to a track, regardless of PP or BHP values. In my first ever Trident on the small 'Ring, I had an RM'd TVR and BUCHAN had an old Charger or something. He never left me alone the entire race and the only thing that kept me ahead of him at the end was that my car had more torque out of the corners than his did. Also one week where Jamesy had an MR-S round Trial Mountain (I think) and he decimated all of us with his lap times. And do I need to remind anyone about the Gixxer battle between me and BUCHAN.....?

Use the tracks provided in the game - I have merely dabbled in the track creator and have learned that it is monotonous, frustrating and it does nothing you want it to. Ever. That said, you created some masterpieces. But ignore that last remark - we're trying to reduce your workload, not increase it!

Delegate - the Trident has more than enough names on its roster that could take a more active role. I'm not saying kidnap your baby, merely babysit for you once in a while and let you put the feet up for a well-earned break. I, for one, wouldn't mind in the slightest taking a week here and there to organise a weeks races. I might even bring you all over to a track I create myself set in the beauty of the Northern Irish countryside.....!

When I first started to show an interest in online racing and started my own thread, I had a few responses before Ade pointed me in the direction of the Trident. If you like, I could ask them same guys would they be interested in taking part? Also - you only have to look at Page One of this thread to see at least half a dozen names that I myself have never saw on a Trident grid. We could follow up them and see if they are also interested.

* * * *

I'll be sad to see the end of Trident if it gets to that, as I had some good times in good races with good friends. In the same breath, I fully understand and appreciate any decision you make, Omnius ;) 👍

RACE 2
The winner of race 1 picks a car from the recommended list.
2nd place from the first race picks the track.
3rd place from the first race picks the tyres(no race tyres except racing hard when cars are over 550pp)

if all goes well is should be fun

(let me know what you think)

With that said, Jamesy, would it be worth their while for all participants to familiarise themselves with the recommended list, to try and get a few ideas? Wouldn't be much point throwing a rip of NASCARs into Kart Space lol. Or have I just influenced the decisions.......? lol

nice idea for a race:lol:

but it's more like .
say i win and pick a tvr tamora from the recommended .
the person picking the track might think hmmm i like that car and go well at cape ring so i have a chance for a win .
and the person picking the tyres also thinks he has a chance so picks what he thinks the best tyres are for him.

what the aim of this challenge is to see who can adapt to the new car/track/tyres the quickest.
it makes it far more spontaneous and exciting as you just don't know what will happen.

Calling all clean GT5 racers!!!

Work has been happening in the background to improve and attract new keen drivers to the CORE GT Series.

Last Friday's TRIDENT GT has be made a 'pre-season' warm-up using the original layout. A new 'tighter' layout has been adopted, each season will last for 12 weeks (1 event per week = 12 'races')

All I can say at the moment is Season 2 will only feature 12 races (each one being slightly longer) instead of 27+4

The 'Trident' moniker will remain (3 groups of 3 + 3....all will be revealed ;))

Custom tracks will still be apart of the TRIDENT GT (Northumberland Park Series)

Only 4 cars will be required per season, one of which will be 'fixed' i.e. this will be known as the 'Season Car'

The full Season details will replace page 1 with only the track being released on the Sunday for the following Friday (again all will be explained and will become clear ;))

Hopefully, this re-boot will encourage more new racers to try out our weekly event.

👍

Thats all for now, and I'd like to take this oppourtunity to thank all the positive words of encouragement from the CORE faithfull who have helped greatly in understanding where I was coming from and allowing me time to 'get sorted'. Season 2 is not far away!

S
:bowdown::cheers:

Im well pleased, dont know how long I could have kept Monaco Mini Madness going for(I dont know how to change the thread title). Looking forward to the new improved Trident. Will you join us on Friday Omnius?

AWESOME!!!!

(if I could use bold, italics, underlining, red text, and a totally-uncalled-for size of text on my iPhone for the above word.......I would)

;)
