As far as I'm concerned, it's 15-16 or not.

If I'm correct, with Biffy included, we are at 14 now.

When we get to the lobby, we can always ask anyone on our FR list to jump in for a bit.
Hopefully that fills the room if we are short drivers.

Dang, well no one I race with regularly is available right now, some of them are in a GT event run through the Playstation forums. If say it gets to around 6 pm est and we still don't have enough drivers, do I have permission to send anyone a message who is still online to join for the test?

edit: nvm just saw Hydro's post.

There are 5 other guys in the 3D3 lounge right now. I'll see if any are available... how many are we short?

GTP_RacingWorld is coming... he's sending a FR now.

GTP_Hasslemoff is a maybe.

Darn cable guy isn't here... watch him show up just as we start which means my internet will be shut down for a bit.

Would you like me to use my headset bluetooth or my eyetoy camera USB? Im a pad user

Either will do.
It's the bandwidth that is the issue, not the microphone device.

You still need me to join i see 15 in the lobby at the moment

There's 16 now, if we need you I'll PM you on PSN.

Sorry I couldn't do it guys. I'll be keeping my eye on the thread to see what results you find 👍

Well, seems we couldn't quite get 16 racers for a single race so hopefully you guys got enough data to form any kind of conclusion from tonight. Thanks for letting me participate, although in the future any instructions that could be texted out before the race would be helpful. Other than that, thanks for letting me race guys.

Sorry I didn't participate like I said I was. I had a series racein today and something came up personally and I wasn't able to log on. Hopefully things are workings out and go as planned

Results:

Getting 16 people in the lounge didn't work but that could have been an issue on those users' end. + Not having enough reserve drivers to try and get in the lounge. So we drove with 15.

We ran a couple of test races on the Daytona Oval.
All races had mics enabled as that seemed to work ATM. Except for the last race on Daytona, we disabled visible damage.
As for the usual car to car lag here and there everything seemed to work out fine.
No grip reduction lag and viewing the replays, the clock wasn't off aswell.
Although one person did notice some grip reduction.

Being pretty close together in a straight line, all went considerably well.
In the turns, much more lag was noticed which caused several collisions.
Also as soon as one car started skidding and popping up smoke, other cars around that one car instantly started lagging much more.

Our opinion on running bigger grids remains the same as before unfortunately.
For grids of 15 or 16, disable mics (from lobby settings), use standard race quality, visible damage set to off.

Keeping in mind we did complete a 14 grid race successfully.
Being with race quality standard, visible damage off and mics enabled.

Don't know if you guys are doing this again. If you are, and I'm around, I wouldn't mind helping out.

Thanks for the offer to help out in future tests, however until there is a significant update to the GT5 online service we will not be conducting further tests.

Of course it does, the faster the cars, the worse the lag, you won't get lag in fiat 500s that's for sure

I've seen lag, invisible car problems, and everything else in kei cars & very low power vintage. Fiat 500 is possibly the severe end of that. But I've seen it in very slow cars.

Someone once reported loss of grip in a race with unmodified Lotus Elans.

Why just the other day we had a HUGE lag start in the Autozam cup race, on an eifel kart with just 6-7 cars on the track. A car went shooting into the air & made a firework & poofs of smoke.

A few days before that, in another Autozam race, there was lag halfway through.

Most people did NOT see this in THEIR replay. :boggled:

If you don't know, the Autozam has less than 70hp.

Anyway, bottom line, I think someone who thinks that fractions of a second don't count in slower cars... doesn't realize that every fraction of a second actually means more in slower cars.

Thanks for the input guys, but this thread was created solely for the purpose of organizing and completing our online test.
If you have anything to add, please post in the original online bug thread found here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=237539
It is a much better place for an on going discussion 👍

The issues watermelonpunch explains are well documented and really aren't the issues we were investigating. They have more to do with an individuals router setup (invisible cars / flying cars / replay differences).

Thanks again to eveyone that was able to participate in, and / or contribute to the Online bug test.
